@@DeeEllEffI’ve been following American politics for a while now and she would have to be one of the most incompetent press secretaries I’ve seen in a while. So no, to the competence check box. And disarmingly funny? I think people find her lies laughable because they are so obvious. If that is what you mean by “disarmingly funny” then sure, check that box. Intelligent? Im sure she is but a lot of the press have run rings around her and exposed her lies easily and the administration’s misgivings. The press doesn’t push her as hard as previous administration’s secretaries and STILL she isn’t able to handle them effectively. So she is not intelligent enough I’m afraid. Goes back to incompetence.

Karine's whole demeanour, from her tone to the words she chooses is so calm and reassuring. She reminds me of some of the best teachers I was taught by. Regarding prescribed medication, I think the US should copy the Swiss model. Here, health insurances pay for most of our medication (I'm currently taking 7 different prescribed drugs and only one is not paid for and it's about 30$/month) so all problems of price gouging and the such are negotiated between health insurances and pharmaceuticals. That said, our health insurance is not exactly cheap either but I think it's for the best.

No system is perfect, but while I was in Germany, the cost and type of medication, while generally lower, depended upon your health insurer. Each health insurer determined which medication it's members received. I can't help but think this system is just begging for kickbacks, bribery, etc. to encourage insurers to use a specific pharmaceutical company..

That was way too quick for an interview for the press secretary, but represented the administration so well there and an excellent interview by Colbert as usual. It's why I voted for Biden. The job of Press Secretary is incredibly nerve-wracking. The Press Secretary's role is to disseminate truthful information, deflect or evade answering questions---without lying---where the information is classified, manage the expectations of a sometimes hostile press corps, protect the image of the President, and sell the President's domestic, economic, and foreign policy agendas. These roles are many times not compatible. As a result Press Secretaries usually don't last long because the job has a high burnout rate. Jen Psaki did a superb job in the 2 years she held the post and Karine Jean-Pierre shows every indication of being just as effective.
