How KR Challengers Use Smolder

I just played a game few minutes ago, that i playing tf against this smolder on midlane, with same build and runes. Is so Strong, i cannot dodge his W because of my range, i got bullied. It's a strong pick that i'll play tomorrow.

@@nuclearisok3353 But unlike most casting adcs, Smolder has absolutely no abilities in his kit that change his autos, such as Lucians passive, MF's W, Ezreals Passive/E, or Jhins passive. He's kind of the only casting ADC like this as well.

Same with being able to build him Bruiser/Off-Tank. The hybrid scaling and ramping damage means he can abuse items like Shojin and Titanic really easily.

It's funny how this always happen whenever they give the ADC a good long range poke that also hit the entire wave, serving as a strong wave clear that bypass any early game weaknesses. A lot of Smolder kit has the same playstyle as Kog'maw so it also has the same oversight lmao.

I mean, Smolder's W is basically just Kog'maws E, but without the trail lol

Yep, personally I labbed out that you just accept that this isn't a champ that exists before 225 stacks. Going DRing start, Triforce/ER into Shojin, then Black Cleaver puts your CDs as low as Navori anyway, makes you bulkier to account for the fact that your range is so low, and you just bait fights. Once you hit lategame, the bulk helps you apply burn and stay alive. I think the regular build works well on pros who farm better on average and spike earlier, but for average players who have trouble playing around Smolder's weaknesses and farm less efficiently due to their own mistakes and team macro, it's way easier to use a bruiser build.

The Blitz preemptive flash was CLEAN. The emote spam after hooking the enemy under tower was just icing on the cake.

That's basically Smolder's win condition. If teams are somewhat equal it's gg. Also it could very well be a staged game to promote yet another bullshit meme build.

ER is basically a requirement. He's such a spammy champion that you'll be permanently OOM. The moment you get ER you're always as max mana.

@@sauvagess ER is not necessary if you take POM and/or Bisquits, and after 25 stacks you can shove waves with W-Q easily, which then gives u a free back. And if you build Stormrazor 1st, ur Q with it's proc hurts quite a lot so you can use less spells in lane and still harras ur opponent's out, esp since Stormrazor's damage is also applied on the Q explosion, while Sheen only applies to the primary target, meaning that Stormrazor also allows you to one-shot casters when they're grouped up. I've been playing Smolder with this setup since his release and had no mana issues, since I could conserve my mana more and still burn enemy hp bars and shove in when needed.

@@sauvagess that's the point of the Stormrazor bulid, you don't bulid ER at all bcs you don't need the mana, and if you really want the Sheen proc, you can go Trinity after your Stormrazor-Navori-LDR core. Ofc LDR vs squishier teams is a waste, in which case you can go either Trinity, Collector (which is not the best option bcs of Smolder's built in late game execute on Q), RFC, BT, Maw or Shieldbow, or anything you need depending on the situation.

@@mattphyx It's still less efficient than stormrazor if you're already going Fleet. By the time stormrazor would outperform ER, which is about 4 items in, you'd already be building stormrazor as a 5th item anyway. Additionally, PoM does nothing if you can't hit anybody in lane, as people are already picking long-range high mobility options like Ezreal and Karma, so you'll have to back off and recall for mana due to no regen in the face of hard pushing, while ER will keep you topped off at all times and make it much easier to stack with your Q.

You aren't suppose to be wave clearing with W. The 3 points into W is for harass and softening the wave for your Q. If you're clearing the waves themselves with W, then you're just playing wrong and making it take longer to reach 225.
