@@romeoromero808what’s cap about it ? I’ve lost that amount of weight in similar time. Lost 20 in about 3.5-4 months. Takes nothing but pure dedication to a routine that works for you. Weight falls off you when you cut out all the bs processed foods and sugary foods. 80% of weight loss is simply dietary change.
@@TaeLS430 Yessir. Say that louder for the trolls in the back! Dietary change, putting in the work + some motivation is all it takes. People assume way too much nowadays. #realtalk
That’s a perfect comparison. He would’ve been a champ. Olympic gold wrestlers, honestly it might be a 100% conversion rate of them becoming ufc champions. Only other one I know of is Henry
I think people forget how good DC actually is. He only has three losses, one of which was to Jon and the next 2 were to Stipe who is arguably one of the greatest heavyweights in UFC history. I personally think he’s the second or third best UFC fighter ever either behind Jones as the second or Jones, Khabib then DC.
They approached Kurt back in '97 but as he says the money wasn't there yet as it was a brand new sport. Had he taken that offer, he may have never stepped into the squared circle.
I'm really digging these wrestlers coming out and sharing their stories. Brings back so many good memories from a time when I did not understand the human element of the show. Now getting to see behind the scenes a bit, I have so much more respect for these guys and gals for what they went through just to entertain us.
How hasn't a movie been made about Kurt Angle yet?? His story is just unbelievable and he is an incredible person all round, and succeeded in everything he went for.
Kurt Angle is one of those guys who was a pure alpha athlete through and through. Doesn't matter what sport or endeavor he did, he would've molded his training regiment and routine around it and been successful. His life story is amazing and utterly fascinating.
What's that got to do with eating steroids? You can do steroids and never win the lottery either...doesn't change the fact he still did roids to get ahead of the competition
I like Joe and I like attitude era Wrestling but I haven't been liking these episodes, It's all stuff I've heard before and Joe's not a fan so their kind of milktoast interviews.
@@jim1631 You speak like you are always in the room with Rogan... very cringe. Also, if Joe wasn't a fan he wouldn't have wasted his time having DDP or Taker or Flair on the show
I remember when Kurt first arrived at WWF he was so hated. Rock and Austin were his opponents and they made him look corny, but he overcame the image and became a huge name in the business. Got love for all those wrestlers I grew up on
Yeah I still remember seeing him the first time as a kid when he was introduced lol. He was pretty corny but he had some fun/cool moments with the Rock and other big names
It was during the time when steph and triple h first got married and were running smackdown. I remember steph was pushing Kurt and would have wrestlers interfere on his behalf to keep him undefeated. Once triple h asked her "why do you like this guy?" Lol
I will never forget seeing Kurt Angle moonsault off the steel cage against Chris Benoit. He is a legend and quickly became one of my favorites. Very happy to see Joe bring him onto the podcast.
That’s because Vince loved making some people heels and he knew how to make you hate a guy from a storyteller point of view. I agree. I hated Kurt Angle as a kid. Now, as an adult, I realize how amazing the dude is.
For a long while Joe didn't want to have wrestlers on the show and time and time again they prove to be the best guests. It's great seeing the human side of folks I watched growing up. And they're incredible storytellers.
@@maxtor6416 This episode was BS though. Barely even talked about Kurt’s WWE career. None of his classic moments. Not really any cool behind the scenes stories, except his wrestling match with Brock. Like always, Joe just starts talking about MMA/UFC and it took up the entire second half of the episode
@@SeniorJr815I thought the same. Such a shame. I haven’t been as pumped for an episode in long time. Is it because Joe felt the conversation became boring? He must have the self-awareness to understand that he makes the conversation about his interests.
@@SeniorJr815@lemonz1128 But I love it, though. I already know most of his pro wrestling stories, but he fought Mike Kerr etc, and his thought on if he went to MMA and fought legit. It's real. And kurt my hero forever.
Pro wrestlers are a gold mine for incredible road and life stories. I am so glad the door is open for them on JRE. Kurt Angle is one of the best of all time
Kurt is a really nice guy I met him as a kid. He was grinning from ear to ear to make a kids day and gave me an autograph and free tickets to the show that night
Kurt is such a legend and did so much for the business that fans understand he doesnt need 1 more match, his heath is the #1 concern but he would be great as a producer or help the next generation of wrestlers.
I can completely relate to his loss of strength. Last summer I was hit by a drunk driver and broke my neck. Prior to the accident I was bench pressing 415lbs for 12-15 reps. Now I’m struggling with 135lbs.
@@jefflawson3574 I used to lift 6 days/week before the accident. I’m a former fullback and heavyweight wrestler. I actually got a lot stronger as I got older.
Hang in there buddy. Stay away from Fentanyl. That shit is the fucking devil. I had a broken back and got prescriptions for oxys and that damn patch. Nearly died multiple times on that thing. Stay strong man
Kurt's opponent in the Olympic final knew his neck was broken and kept targeting it throughout the match. Kurt may not have felt anything at that moment, but you can only imagine how he felt afterwards.
As a person with herniated cervical discs that cause excruciating pain, let me disabuse y'all of the notion that pills take all the pain away. They do not, they may numb it some to the point of being functional, but they only work so well.
Kurt Angle. 1 time Olympian 1 time gold medalist Many time pro wrestling champion 5 time broken neck survivor. As well as considered one of the greatest all around wrestlers of all time, be it collegiate, national, Olympic, or "professional". It's a miracle he's still around and amazing he's done all this in a single life time, most of it was done within 10 years of the first time his neck broke.
Kurt is a proper badass. Great confidence crossed with Humility. Also, impossible not to respect the engagement Joe has with his guests, really is great at what he does.
Man this podcast with Kurt has been so interesting I just love these intimate talks about the business and Kurts injuries and stuff it's sooo intriguing.
If you didn’t like him when you were a kid, then he was doing his job perfectly 👌🏻 He’s up there with Austin, HBK, Undertaker and Rock as generational talents.
I hated mark Henry he scared tf out of me just to find out he a big teddy bear 😂😂😂😂😂😂 yall remember he tossed that guy in the shadow relam I was terrified even when he knew it was a act
I saw him before he turned heel. I always thought it sucked that all the fans basically hated him after but I kinda get that it was best for his character so that he didnt become to cheesy over time. Mad respect to him just a genuinely great wrestler he was great at what he did.
Kurt Angle is a legend. Hearing his theme song growing up always brought a smile to my face. Me & my little bro used to yell out "You Suck", but low-key, we were fans of Kurt Angle, ha. Everyone at school used to copy Cena's F-U & the Angle Lock. Aww, good times.
That’s crazy. I remember we had posters of Kurt in our high school wrestling room in the late 90s with his gold medal, and later when I heard about the neck I couldn’t believe it. Always thought it was a myth or something. Wow
To compensate the upper body Angle has freakishly strong legs and glutes. I remember how he was effortlessly throwing guys almost twice his size in WWE, that was incredible. One of my favorite wrestlers along with Shawn Michaels
God I know what Kurt is going through. Spinal cord injury blows. It’s incredible he’s still walking. The Dr that saved my best friends life invented those artificial disks. If I’m not mistaken it was initially for top tier military cases right after invasion of Afghanistan. All I got to say is Kurt has to be insanely mentally strong, and a bit crazy lol
I have multiple bulging discs in each part of my spine not just one part all 3 parts can someone tell me is that pretty bad as im only 23 never been hurt before and had to leave my job and now I’m stuck trying figure out how fix the pain in my back just had epidural in my cervical spine that didn’t do much but a tiny bit of help.
Always been a fan. I respect the relentless nature of Angle. Who can say they won a GOLD medal, let alone with a broken neck?! Not too many I assure you.
@@raynwolfsbane2084 Mick Foley was a wild man. Feel so bad for him nowadays always talks about how he’s in constant pain and fear he won’t be able to walk soon. Same as Kurt. These guys don’t get enough credit
Kurt I feel for ya my brother..it's absolutely mind boggling to hear your story I was the same way..if I was out of pills and if I knew I could not get anything for a few day's I was not even get out of bed...I'm still in the struggle would latterly give my left arm for a treatment center..stay good bro
So wild seeing Kurt on Joe Rogan. Love all his interviews and this one just adds to the list. Total class act. One of my all time favorites growing up watching WWE. No matter the "angle" he portrayed.
Watch Kurt’s interview after winning the gold. They went right to an interview as he left the mat. He gave the most emotional, open hearted speech that I have ever seen. I got a chill thinking of it now as I type this. When he says (I’m paraphrasing) he can die now and he’d be fine with it.
Angle is a bonafide BEAST! An absolute legend! Still remember the Austin Vs. Angle rivalry as one of the best and most underrated programs in wrestling.
I have 7 herniated discs from a bicycle/car accident. Kurt Angle has always been my inspiration to keep training in the gym, even when I know how much pain it is going to cause me, I am going to feel pain either way. I got a really awkward photo with Kurt in 2004 :)
What I love about this interview is the exchange of knowledge and information between Kurt and Joe. Kurt knew a few things Joe didn’t and vice versa. Awesome respect for this conversation
I had three level fusion done on my lower neck. While it releaved some of the pressure on my nerves, overall it sucks. It gets stiff and siezes a lot. When it's inflamed, I have severe numbness in my arms and hands. If anyone else is facing surgery and disc replacement is an option I highly recommend looking into that.
My uncle broke his neck when he was like 12 and it was bad enough that at the time the Dr said he'd never walk again. They fused his neck up and had him in a halo brace, he fully recovered and has been a roofer most his life. When I was a kid he was always shredded and looked like he was made of granite (from labor). I will say that he can't really turn his neck. If he wants to look at something or someone to the side of him, he does have to kinda turn his body with his neck. Other than that he's been good his whole life with a fused neck. No atrophy or anything because like I said, as a kid I always admired how well built and athletic looking he was. I wonder if him being young helped him heal, if his Dr was great, or even some spirit/mentality and luck that helped significantly, because I see fighters get the atrophy from neck injuries and it sucks. He did say while he was in the hospital laying in bed not able to move, he just listened to music he liked and kept saying to himself f that, I'm coming back. He did say he was in a dark place though and like really angry about it.
I fell upside down off a second floor roof while working and landed on my head back in the mid 2000's and was hospitalized for almost 3 weeks. Paralyzed from the neck down until I finally started getting feeling back. Scariest moment of my life. 2 discs dislodged and pinned a cluster of nerves against my spine which caused me to lose feeling in my arms about 10 times a day if I turned my head a certain way. They wanted to cut me open and remove the discs, take bone from my pelvis and replace them with that then put a titanium plate in with bolts and screws and sow me back up. I was 28 yrs old with a 3yr old son and I knew if I got that surgery it was all downhill from there. Instead I opted for an epidural steroid injection in the back of my neck with a gel that made it's way to the nerves and push them out from being stuck from the slipped discs to alleviate pressure. Although today, 20yrs later I still have issues from it. I can tell you when it's about to rain because when the barometric pressure drops outside, my neck stiffens and it's hard to turn right or left. I'll take that discomfort any day because I've still been able to work after all these years and take care my children by opting out of that surgery.
Correction, Joe. He won a gold medal with a BROKEN FREAKIN' NECK. I got a spinal fusion n 2008 that fused L2-L4. While the fusion did help to a certain extent, they told me before the surgery, that once you get the surgery, the discs above and below the fusion, will become weaker over time. They can start to slip, herniate etc., and you may need more surgery, even another fusion 10-20+ yrs down the road. I've already hit 12 yrs and my lower back, L4--S1 is causes so much pain and muscle spasms, it's debilitating AF.
@@c3ramics Yeah. I was fine until a roofing accident. Slid off a 24ft high roof. Hit the ground basically feet first w most of the weight on my left side. Outside of all the other injuries I sustained, I had a compression fracture of my L3. Did years of PT, but the pain just kept getting worse. Finally got the fusion at the Hospital of Special Surgery in NYC, by the head of their spine Dept. and the the best spinal surgeon in the US. Fusion was successful, but as I noted, the discs above and below become weaker and they start giving you problems. 24/7 for years I deal w/ constant muscle spasms and tightness in my lower back and on each side of my spine, bc the muscles are trying to protect my spine from getting worse. PT only helps to an extent. Pain meds barely help and muscles relaxers don't do shit. So it's basically, suck it up, until you pretty much collapse. lol
@@GoGetYourShinebox Evidently as a youth I never paid attention, they introduced him as an Olympic gold medalist and I recall him wearing his medals. Yet I never ever recall them talking about this injury on the shows unless it was in his documentary which I never watch... "lol".
@@GoGetYourShinebox I heard a lot of crazy remarks from wrestlers during those days as a youth, never researched or took it literally. Your memory must be better than mines, older, or done your research during those times. Lol
Dude i have artificial implants in my neck at c5 and c7.... i just had the surgery july 12. And when he was talking about all of his symptoms he still deals with i felt for the first time ever finally... someone who understands it....but at the same time inspired because it didnt stop him. I have a new found view of kurt angle. I have worked 50-60 hrs a week since my son was born. He is now 13. And im still pushing. I hope angle gets these implants. They are life changing for mobility. Not so much for sensation though. But then again nerves take up to a year to heal. Also joe. If you read this. I would absolutely love to talk about the surgery with you if you ever found a need for a session about it. That would be probably the coolest experience of my life. Big fan lol
Did you feel those symptoms after the surgery or before? How are you healing up? I pinched a nerve in my neck last November and am still recovering. Lost lots of strength in my left arm/shoulder, and I dealt with a chest muscle injury too. All of it is getting much better, but scary stuff. I saw three doctors, and they didn't seem concerned!
@@PowersBenzoCoaching I fell 30 ft off of a roof I thought I was just fine and went right back to work until two weeks later I couldn't lift my arm pass my belly button started feeling like I had hot LED moving through both arms and my neck constantly ached. Physical therapy helped a great deal at first and then certain chiropractors were very helpful my advice would be to see a chiropractor before I go into surgery. Try and seek a holistic chiropractor to be perfectly honest with you they seem to help me a lot more as far as adjustments and things like that but I don't know what kind of insurance you're working with my insurance wasn't that great at the time. Post-surgery I deal with some muscle tightness in the throatmy pain level is out of this world better I have no more issues as far as the hot LED feeling or losing control of my legs I highly recommend implants if you get a fusion it will screw up everyone I've met has regretted getting a fusion so talk to the surgeon and if they recommend an implant do it while you can I was down for about 3-4 days before I could go to the grocery store and buy week for I put a new battery and alternator in my car now I'm back to work after I think it was five weeks I went right back to work it's a slow-healing after that with building strength and things like that. But if you need surgery to get rid of your issue I highly recommend the implant over the fusion. But at least try a holistic chiropractor the one that I seen adjusted my vertebrae in my neck and had me pain-free for 8-years with management until it advanced and started to push further into my spinal cord and that's when I had to get it done. Any questions I can answer I'd be happy to do so just reach out if I didn't touch on something P.s. sry for the typos and run ons. Used tall to text
My favorite wrestler of all time. One of my favorite athletes of all-time. Thank you so much for everything Kurt. Live safe and healthy brother! Much love and respect always!!!!
Replacement discs can sometimes end up fusing solid so they aren’t guaranteed to work but when they hey do they are fantastic. I had one it was great but bone ended growing around it and it essentially fused the vertebrae above and below but I’ve also have had a straight up fusion and it wasn’t bad. Sure I can’t swivel it 360 but it was better than having my spinal cord compressed so much that I literally wanted to cut my right arm off because of the pain.
One of the most underrated wrestlers of all times.... the obstacles he over came. Both in the ring and out of the ring. As when most ppl complain and throw in the towel with the slightest discomfort. Broken neck and all and rose thru the ranks like a champ. I hope from the bottom of my bottomless heart he lives a long beautiful, hopeful, colorful life.
