I wouldn’t look at kyries last playoff as any significant measure. Last playoffs he came from suspension he had no chance to be in shape and the nets refused to play through him because ownership was angry with him. Thats why Celtics swept them they let Kyrie run point 1 game went down to the final shot after that they went to kd who can’t handle the ball and Celtics bullied him. The season before they were dominating until he got injured. The nets had beat Celtics 4-1 and they were beating bucks pretty bad. His season with Celtics look at any interview all the young players jb/terry/smart had quit on the team because they didn’t like their roles. That Celtics team needed jb/terry to play off the bench and defense. Instead the Celtics had an issue of cluster fck from pg,sg, and sf. The younger players wanted contracts and minutes they didn’t want to play under Gordon and Morris. That caused the team to not have chemistry and they were undersized. I wouldn’t view the last Celtic season or last bk season as meaningful.
Nobody had ire for the coach at that time and Hayward was rushed back too soon and it ruffled feathers in the lockeroom that he was starting 1st game of the season
I really like Gafford and D-Live on the floor, but if we have to go “small” and that means Maxi, PJ, (and then DJJ and Dante), I feel pretty good with that.
Jason Kidd may try to spin the last two games as no-bearing games, but this just shows that the mavs are toast against the clippers without kyrie and luka because the players are unprepared without a game plan and are clueless without the two superstars. The Mavs with their whole crew except for Kye and Luka got spanked by the lowly Pistons (who earlier in the season recorded a historic losing streak), then against OKC got bamboozled big time with two rotation players Tim and Josh not doing anything remotely significant when they have the green light to do anything tonight. Compare that to the Clippers where in their game against PHX, without 6 of their best players (Kawhi, PG, Harden, Westbrook, Powell, Zubac), the Clips LEAD the Suns throughout most of the game until the Suns (playing with their entire roster) mounted a run in the last few minutes of the 4th when the Clippers bench players are already gassed. Bones Hyland (37 games played, 15 mins/game, 7 pts/game - basically their Josh Green) had a career high 37 points. Second to the last game against Utah, Clippers lost by only 1 point behind their bench crew and a few pedestrian minutes from their starters. Today against HOU, lost by only 11 playing without the 6 players AND Hyland. Kidd is actually not joking or being sarcastic when he says that Luka (and Kye) are the system, because in reality, they are.
You obviously didn't see was out. Pistons game we had a couple starters only play the first half. Okc game we literally played the 3rd string. Pj, Daniel Jones, gafford, exum, Hardaway, etc.. were so on the injured list. Not just luka and Kyrie
@aldswin I completely agree!!!! 💯 I wrote a comment identical to yours just 8 hours ago, those last Two Games can not just be brushed aside.... The team is spoiled by Kai and Luka constantly penetrating and creating good shots for everyone around and good Ball movement...when they are on the floor at least 1 of them the offense is flowing because Kai is a passing savant, so is Luka even though they are considered score first bucket getters....you need a minimum of 2-3 forwards a 3 or a 4 forward that can unlock the game for the team when Luka and Kai are not in the game.... Exum is the closest we have to a sound third scorer who can handle penetrate and create for others. If we had added Kuzma before the trade that's a guy that fits that role or....like the Clippers have Powell, we need to get Bruce Brown next year he is that type of guy who is glue and can get his own shot while feeding others occasionally....Deni Avdia from Washington another possibility as a great defender can handle and create for others! Love your comment @aldsdwin cause that is my biggest fear too!!! Anyhow still the best defensive team around Luka with Kyrie having one of his best seasons, and an absolute 💎 of a leader this far, so we got a chance against anyone!! Let's go Mavs!!!!!!!
We know what will be getting from Luka and Kyrie. This series will be decided by whether or not the Mavs role players can hit their open shots through committee. Unfortunately, we don't have a single reliable 3rd scorer on this team.
The Mavs need to go big by placing Gafford and Lively as long as possible to punish the smaller 5-out clippers and control the rebounds in the paint area. Small ball line-up (Maxi as 5) is only used as transition time or a desperate period. There is no point in giving up the Mavs' height advantage to play small against the Clippers.
Except the Mavs small ball lineup still has a significant size advantage over the Clippers small ball unit. I think both strategies can work for Dallas, but playing small for stretches might work even better. Good news is that they have options now.
Yeah, so they can get roasted to oblivion by all the open 3s that the clippers will get by having 2 centers that can barely guard the perimeter? Good thing you're not the coach cause you're already cooking a recipe for disaster, if the Mavs wanna go big, they'll be putting Maxi at PF and either Gafford or Lively at center because Maxi is versatile enough to guard quick forwards like Kawhi and PG unlike Gafford and Lively
Yeah I was thinking either the Lakers or the Pels will beat OKC in a 7 games series. I’d rather see Pels than a desperate Bron and healthy AD. Either way I see Mavs taking it in 6-7
@@BassYakCam I see the lakers losing to the Pels and winning the next game. Which would put them against the Thunder. I think the Lakers would dominate the Thunder
It depends sometimes they can it all depends but hopefully they can pj THJ and maxi have good Shooting games but usually one has a good shooting game the other doesn't it's like they can't shoot well at the same time
I think we should try having Gafford and DLive together. Then use Powell, PJ, Maxi, Dante, Green for small ball.. Also really need to give Morris minutes.
Kai is a playoff Riser Big Time, Big Time, still overall I feel like he has historically been great like KD..... Just because you put up insane numbers does not mean you have to win every series Luka went out to Clips couple of years ago no Mandella Effect I assure you but, Luka lost despite the effort, I don't doubt a second a second that Luka and Kai would raise their game in the Playoffs... They just gotta get the Dune Tribe to follow!!! Kai and Luka are my Muad'dib, now let's show the universe what The Dallas tribe is made of!!!! Let's goooooo Maaaaavs Nation you made a believer out of me!!!! If you don't believe you shouldn't be here!!!😊 Good luck team!!!! 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀
PJ Washinton and Derek Jones defends against Paul George and against Kawhi, Luka and Kyrie defends against James Harden and against Norma Powell. If Gafford starts who will defend against him on the Clippers? Who can Maxie Kilber defend against on the Clippers?
@Nick a racoon squad from PH, can you discuss if it'll matter that we have a different coach compared to the time when we are giving a hard time to the clips series(will it matter?)
Everyone complaining about that last game not realizing the guys about to play are going to be fresh and healthy. Yall acting like they won't be in the gym working their ass off the next 2 weeks. Mavs in 6
REPOST I know human nature and how certain mean spirited or misguided fans carry themselves. I said it on another Dallas thread a couple of days ago that I wonder how many Mavericks fans HATED God Kyrie Andrew Irving JUST eighteen months ago and are now FORCED to root for his success .. you all allowed the media to drive the narrative in your mind about this great specimen of a man. In fairness, I never got into Luka because I don't usually fool with the Western conference and I did not like the comparisons to my all-time favorite Larry Joe Bird when he hasn't won anything and Bird one right away. I thought he may have jerk tendencies as well. But now that I am on board with Dallas because of my boy boy KAI I realize that Luka is a beast and appears to be fun to play with and against, cool spirit.. and because I watched every Larry Bird dribble like he is my first cousin I DEFINITELY see the similarities As it pertains to Kyrie Andrew, Dallas fans who now have got to know him some should really appreciate this goat; major philanthropy and never talks about it, stands up for his beliefs, and ALL of his teammates over the years love him. Think about it, I have NEVER heard any players say anything negative about him and I've been rocking with him since cleveland, hurt my heart he left my team of 30 years Boston SO glad that he seems happy after UNDERSTANDABLY getting the heck out of Dodge away from that weird Brooklyn owner..I'm sure the peace is also from maturity his spiritual walk and more importantly his wife and kid Let's go! Boston Mavericks finals
@@alexyoung808s6Yes Kyrie has to prove it in the playoffs. Just because he’s a former champion 7 years ago means nothing to this Mavs team. Everyone has to prove something.
@@joesutherland9354No, if anything, Luka has to prove to the Mavs. He hasn’t won a championship for this franchise. It’s always the coaches fault and his teammates fault when we lose. No more excuses for him. He has everything he needs to get the job done. It’s all on Luka, not Kyrie.
@@alexyoung808s6 He does. He tries to rewrite history or influence people to observe the game through his perception. Very sneaky 😏. We see you 👀. Carry on!
I'm worried about Russ Westbrook, he's the kind of player who can wake them up if they fall asleep, due to his high energy. And of course I'm also worried about THJ's level... like all the MFFLs I guess.🤨
Look Lebron had a historically Baad series against Mavs, I remember one game he had only 8 points with atrocious shooting numbers throughout the series. You can not convince me Kyrie is not an "ABSOLUTE SCORCHING FLAME THROWER" in the Playoffs, and stats back up the eye test as well. He has absolutely nothing to prove in my mind!!! He's gonna be fired up though so Y'all better watch!!!!
if it wasnt for kyries injury next to Durant they wouldve won and even with the injuries a toe on the line cost them in game 7 just stupid to say kd and Kyrie dont fit together
I hope people saw in this last game what trash players those 2 Hardy and bellowed Timmy are. It is just terrible to watch. And I hope Green although I have nothing against him, will not be playing in playoff, simply because he is a type of player that needs to be in full shape and fully ready. And he has fear, he is a completely different player than before the injury. Plus he will need 3 months to get his shooting form back. And playoff is not a place for experiments and to recover players.
Please try to get someone other than Reggie. I listen to every podcast and honestly he's weakest co-host. I know he speaks a lot but I have never heard him actually say anything useful, like at all. Notice he mostly just adds to whatever point or opinion Nick has. I have yet to hear anything insightful or even interesting about Mavs or NBA basketball from Reggie. His takes on 105.3 are equally very weak.
Maybe it's not appropriate to say that but I think lively will use his situation as fuel and is going to be a different monster after losing his mum....
