Now that you mention it, i’m curious as to which production year it is. I genuinely never knew that Firebird’s came with a bonnet/hood mounted rev counter/tachometer.I know that certain Goat’s did. I’m now desperately scrutinising the video looking to see if there are giveaways as to which production year it is. With a gearbox/transmission like that could it possibly be a HO or Super Duty??

Tell me the benefits of having a manual valve body on this set up compared to not. 67 fairlane here with Windsor based stoker and years spent on the track. Trust me a regular flow auto will shift just fine when told to manually. Yet a manual valve body simply eliminates the possibility to run auto has he stated you can do both with this set up. A Hurst quarter stick will run on an auto c4 transmission just fine and let you go into D and shift for you. Why eliminate that to just say you did. I know 1000hp drag cars that can go into d for dumb.

I've been spending hours each day trying to find a way to get an overdrive gear with a Lenco. I found an article that GearVendors partnered with them but can't find any hard info or ordering info about it. I'm thinking about sticking a ST1200 in my Jeep project.
@trunkmonkey9417
@trunkmonkey9417 Год назад
Yes, you can get a gear vendors with the LENCO adapters. Contact GV and they will be happy to assist you with information you may need. Be mindful the overall length of a LENCO ST100 5 speed with reverser and GV hanging off the back is gonna be as long as a freight train... (front of bell to GV yoke is gonna be between 6 and 7 feet) But a lot of guys running LENCOs with tons of power, run GV with no issues.

Do you need to have a cluch to shift with that system. With you shifting the gears without pushing a clutch and another video I saw with a similar setup in action makes me think you don't.
@Shutterfuel

No clutch on this setup, it’s basically an automatic with shifters for each gear. So instead of PRND21 all on one stalk, it’s separated into a stick for each gear basically.

@finck9226
@finck9226 3 года назад
so whats the point in these? im guessing for drag racing? is there a clutch peddle?
@Shutterfuel
@Shutterfuel 3 года назад
Mainly for drag racing, yes. Some people installed them to get more control over shift points in their automatics so they could have a more sportier driving experience. Because it’s just a shifter mounted to an automatic transmission, there is no clutch pedal.

Can someone explain the benefit of this compared to just using a standard shifter to switch between 1,2,3 and 4? Mines already got 1,2,3 and D so this just seems like an auto with extra steps? I can't see it being faster as more hand movement is required compared to clicking the gears one notch higher to go up/down? And it doesn't give you the control of a manual clutch.
@Crlarl
@Crlarl 3 года назад
Usually, the 1/2/3/D selection (on an automatic) doesn't have anything to stop you from moving the shifter past the next gear position. Eg. Unless you're careful, when shifting from 1 to 2, you could push too much and go past and get to 3 or higher. This type of shifter is intended for the amateur drag racing people (or wannabe racers).
@Raz_Tactical
@Raz_Tactical 3 года назад
@@Crlarl fair enough but i can get my car in right gear while bouncing around off-road. (Including quickly switching into reverse to avoid doing back flip) so someone going in a straight line should not have an issue putting it a notch up/down. If you really want speed and are going to be changing the transmission anyway you're much better off with a sequential box. Other than aesthetic purposes i really don't see the benefit.
@Crlarl
@Crlarl 3 года назад
@@Raz_Tactical This is an automatic. The shifter is the biggest thing changed.
@Raz_Tactical
