Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s standing as one of the greatest basketball players ever to grace the hardwood is unquestionable, six MVP awards, six championships, and the NBA’s all-time leading scorer. But off the court his activism and using his voice for social justice has made him an icon in other ways.
This is a brief history of why Lew Alcindor changed his name to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who he fought for justice alongside, and the impact he has today on not just the NBA but on the USA.

Kareem still writes with eloquence and poignancy all the time on his newsletter. While others might argue about who's the GOAT, there's no question about his place as the most influential activist in the history of basletball. (edits for grammar and spelling.)

Tifo! I tip my hat to you. So happy to see a video on Kareem which focuses on his beliefs and values and his struggles against oppression of African-Americans. Even though he won 6x NBA championships, his achievements as a an activist for civil rights are infinitely greater! Great portrait of a great figure! Well done indeed!

Don't know why people put lebron over him. Right now lebron does not pass kareem in anything significant e.g.(MVPS, Final MVP's, Rings). The only thing you can give lebron is the all time leading score title. Kareem won a chip in his second year. The only who legitimately competes with jordan
