I decided to set myself the simplest of all challenges. ride at 34kph for as long as I possibly could. The challenge ends the moment my average speed falls below 34kph - here's how I got on!
I stole this idea from GCN, where they rode at 30kph for as long as they could. Check out their video here: • How Long Can We Ride A...

The non stop wind has been driving me crazy. In fact, the weather generally has been driving me crazy. I think I’m now at the point where my bike gets washed more than I do.

If your bike is getting washed while you're riding it, you don't need showers anymore😎

Nice solid and fair challenge. I haven't pushed a pedal in anger in 15 years but I remember my 4-5 hour rides being around 31kph average in the lovely hilly roads of the French Pyrenees. Not easy to keep that speed constantly on your own but I loved it. Makes me want to get the bike out and see how long I can hold 25kph these days😂

I did exactly this kind of challenge with myself, I was trying to stay up the 33.3km/h because I wanted to do a 3h 100km. I barely managed to do that, that was close to my limit

It takes a lot of power to hold 34kph solo outside! On Zwift I'm able to maintain 42kph at 3.5w/kg following the A pace bot.

@@daveh9407 'How Long Can I Drive a Bus at 50mph with Passengers and a Bomb Onboard?' I remember seeing that challenge. Sandra and Keanu were way ahead of their time with these kinds of challenges long before RU-vid existed and over two years before Cameron Jeffers was even born. Imagine this same challenge on a bicycle to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the 'How Long Can I Drive a Bus at 50mph with Passengers and a Bomb Onboard?' challenge.

Is this not a great way to practice break aways, keeping an avg/spd into the wind while managing your effort so you don't blow. New type of training

34km/h probably about 45km/h in a peloton
@veganpotterthevegan
@veganpotterthevegan 2 месяца назад
Depends on how big the group is and how flat. Suck wheel properly and you can do 45kph pushing under 200w. I've done a few very fast road races as a leadout where we held those speeds and I was largely in z1 with my HR under 110bpm for the bulk of the 5hrs.

@@veganpotterthevegan it's crazy comparing solo rides and thoes speeds!
@veganpotterthevegan
@veganpotterthevegan 2 месяца назад
@BikesKomsCRO yup, it's downright hilarious. I can't stand crit racing and stopped after I became a cat 2 and up. But the difficulty of a cat 5, 4 then 3 criterium was tough for me because I'm heavy, started cycling late, and can't do repeated efforts out of corners that many times before I explode. For flat road races at a high level, they really were easy for me until the end of the race unless my team had me chasing breakaways down or trying to start one. It was really nice to move up in category and actually be able to relax, despite the speeds being similar but for much longer distances😂 I was always on edge crit racing. I've done some 100mile races in stage races where my HR didn't get over 140(180max) until the last 10min and since I had nothing to do for my team and can't sprint anyway, I just rolled across the line like I was dilly dallying with my girlfriend with a tailwind.

@veganpotterthevegan
@veganpotterthevegan Месяц назад
@user-vm1gq5vg4q it's just from drafting. It's like being behind a semitruck with a big enough peloton in front of you. You only need a lot of power if you lose the group for losing focus or needing to go to the team car

The 'How Long Can I Ride At 21.1266mph?' challenge. I assume he was thinking of doing 20mph (32kph) but realized it wasn't challenging enough. He and other RU-vidrs seem unsure of what measures to use for their audience. It's a tricky one, but miles would be good for UK and USA. Younger generations in UK seem to learn more metric though. He should give both figures to acknowledge and suit everyone.
