Today we test and time how long it takes to cross the US Canada Border into Canada when you are prepared with all documents and questions. I have crossed the border in both directions a thousand times with little issues. Post your comments.

HEY BIG A! Thanks for the back home video. It brought back so many memories of in my High School days in Flint, Michigan. Every chance I'd get I'd hop in my Hillman Minx convertable and drive into Windsor Ontario over the Ambassador Bridge to meet with friends at the Elias Brothers Big Boy burger housel! I have always loved Canada and it's people and it always brought back memories when I'd sit and chat with families from Canada who used to frequent my shows in Waikiki. Unfortunately Andrew those days of performing have long since past. In June of 2023, 2 months before my 77th Birthday I was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. After several months of the first chemo sessions they took me off the meds because it failed, and changed to a new med., which also failed. and now to this day, they have me on a 6 chemo pill a day regimen. I love it when you have more of your updated travel vids. I always refer back to the videos we made when the four of us met in Waikiki. The video makes me smile big time! Stay safe and healthy good bud! Aloha!

The only thing about both crossings at Blaine is that they can be too busy on weekends, so I tend to avoid them.

I probably mentioned this before but anyway I visited a friend in Windsor, Canada going over the bridge. Canada customs had me park to check my rental car from Detroit and had me go into the building. I probably looked tired because I had flown in from Oregon on a red eye. No problems. On the way back to USA US Customs had a couple people walk the car line and ask questions. The one guy told me to take my sunglasses off. When I got to the gate the customs guy checked my trunk. He came back and asked me where was the person listed on the luggage which happened to be my wife. I told him she stayed back in Oregon. Of course I wanted to say something else but knew that wasn’t wise. After he was done off I went.

When I was young and had long hair and computers didn't really exist to screen people, US Customs main job was to "judge you" and decide if you were "worthy" of being let into the USA. Just as in today, they are just doing their job. If you give any border guard attitude, in any country they may mess with you. You did the right thing. Now that I am older, US Customs and Border security are very nice to me. LOL.

I guess it helps a lot if, when asked, you can remember the address, city and state, that you have chosen for your official domicile. 😂 Oh the hardships of being a full time nomad.

HA! If when asked, "where do you live?", and you hesitate and say "Denver...errr, no Cleveland", you will be sent inside for intense questioning! LOL. (they have your border crossing history, passport info and car registration info all on their computer, so why get caught in a lie??

Last time Carolyn came to Canada, she crossed at this exact border crossing and it took her over an hour because she gave them attitude.

@@Linescrew1Canada I watched that fiasco as she got the first 3 or 4 questions wrong. Then she complained they were picking on her and the only reason was because she was female. She’s lucky it only took 1 hour!

I wonder if it's that easy at the border between the USA and Mexico. For the last few years the only borders I've crossed are between counties here in California. (I have to travel through three counties every time I go grocery shopping.)

If it were not for human instituted procedures the time it would take for the crossing beginning with one's first body molecule to one's last body molecule would be dependent upon body size and velocity.

Ha! There was a time in human history where borders did not exist. Lol.

@@Linescrew1Canada interesting. Volumes could be written about the history, function and fluctuating nature of borders. In a sense what we have today may be a macro development arising from animal territorial instinct.

Is that true that Canadians have to pay 800 dollars in insurance in order to travel in the US for a few months?
@Linescrew1Canada
@Linescrew1Canada 4 месяца назад
Canadian don't "have to pay" anything to cross the border. If you are referring to purchasing travel medical insurance, most of us do that because Canadians don't want to pay out of pocket for medical emergencies. US health care is extremely expensive. The amount you pay is based on gender, age, and preexisting conditions. I am nearly 60 and I pay about $150 a year.

You should give me a heads up. I would like to meet you. I am in Vancouver, WA. I have a truck camper and have access to Thousand Trails which has ONE campground in the CA. There are many in WA but probably more out of your way. I used to go to Vancouver BC for trade shows and supporting customers. It was always a pain in the ass. BTW, I thought you were moving to the Philippines. I am planning to move to Panama this year. I took a Panama Relocation Tour at the beginning of March.

I was a Thousand Trails member for several years and stayed at the only Canadian location in British Columbia many times. I am now headed to Portugal because it's just a better deal for me with proper health care, as I can qualify for residency in Europe. I have looked at Panama, it does have some advantages in terms of a Pensionista Visa. At least you can bring your car and effects without being taxed, like Costa Rica does. By the way, I like to hit the Del Taco in Vancouver, Washington when I am headed south. We don't have that up here, at least not Del Taco. Best regards from British Columbia.
