HOW LONG DOES PLASTI DIP LAST

In this video we review how long does plasti dip last after several months of plastidipping a car with almost 50 cans of plastidip. The plastidip did not hold up well at all under the sun and has faded very rapidly. Also any bugs, road grime, or tar that has stuck to the plastidip coating is now nearly impossible to remove without compromising the plasti dip coating. Hand prints and grease are also an issue and are hard to keep the plasti dip clean. This was a fun project but I would not recommend going through this hassle as it is very time consuming and doesn't not endure the elements well. The car is stored inside most of the time and has only been in outdoors for several events during the day.
Check out the video where we plastidipped the whole car HERE 👇

Sorry to hear that John. My cousin has done a lot with crazy colors in plastidip, even Tiffany blue on his mustang, but not sure about how he is maintaining the vehicles. Going to do the wrap yourself or have a shop do it?

Appreciate the update man I've been thinking about plasti dip but where I live we have snow and salt to deal with too so not sure how long it would last especially when winter hits.

Yeah check out Charlie’s comment here apparently he didn’t have good results with plasti dip and winter either!

Look into dip coat. The top coating will protect it. There's a ceramic coating for it too. But do it right not like how this ghetto kid did it.

Do you think the plasti dip would've last longer if you used the spray gun instead of using rattle cans?

I love how everyone that disses plasti dip uses cans to paint their car. That's the number one rule. DON'T SPRAY CAN YOUR CAR! 🤣SMH.

Exactly, you wouldn’t factory’s paint a car with cans, the same goes for plasti dip.
@sokoow6530
@sokoow6530 3 года назад
True. If you read about how to dip your car the number one rule is to not use cans for the body. Wheels and emblems are fine with aerosol but the body has to be painted properly with a sprayer.

Not sure, but I know plasti dip does make a clear coat spray. Maybe redo it and try the clear which may give longevity to the plasti dip
@BoostedMotorsports
@BoostedMotorsports 5 лет назад
I’ve heard about the clear also. Only thing is that I’ve also heard that this fluorescent color doesn’t handle sun very well and the yellow hasn’t been wearing off but your idea may at least help with the stains and marks. I still don’t think it’s worth the hassle lol

I’ve tried the clear coat plastidip but it peels fast and also leaves a haze. Long story short I still have half the can I’ll never use.

Plasti Dip Fluorescent colours meaning the Blaze Plasti Dip range by their very nature will fade and not retain its colour as it does state this on the web site. I myself live in Europe and I went with the cheaper Full Dip that product is the same if not better than Plasti Dip through my own personal experience and is exclusively made in Spain considering the price it works out much cheaper per can. As regards to longevity use a Plasti Dip Primer then after you have Plasti Dipped your car or Full Dip it like I did use K1 glossifier it makes the Plasti Dip semi-permanent. If you do that it will resist petroleum or any other solvents and stand up to a lot of abuse contrary to what Fonzy says about using a glossifier over palsti dip being non removable he is wrong as I have done it myself and was able to remove the product if you apply 10 coats. My car has been done with the stuff well over two years and still looks as good as the day it was originally sprayed painted.

1 thats a terrible color. 2 you should be using large batches for a car and not 50 cans 😂 3 was a sealer used afterwards? Because cars have a clear coat. It's not color on the top layer

Crap in, crap out. You did shitty job putting it on. You need several mils of thickness. For the S you should have used 4 gallons. Good luck getting that itty-bit of plastic off.
