I'd say actually a lot of states no longer require the experience before sitting for the exam. I was in the first group in Alabama that could take the exam before experience. I'll meet the experience requirements next month, Lord willing. Edit: and that was in 2019 if I remember.

very informative Antony!!! Is it allowed to take FE/PE exams outside the USA? Or is it possible/worth at all to get PE license for someone living/working outside the USA?
@PassthePEExam
@PassthePEExam 7 месяцев назад
@faridmammadov7464 Taking FE/PE Exams Outside the USA: Yes, it is possible to take both the FE and PE exams outside the USA. The National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES), which administers these exams, has authorized Pearson VUE testing centers in various countries around the world. You can check their website to see if there is a testing center near you: ncees.org/ Getting a PE License Outside the USA: Whether it's possible and worthwhile to get a PE license outside the USA depends on your specific situation and goals. Here are some things to consider: Relevance of the PE license: Does the country/region you work in require or highly value PE licensure for engineers? Is it necessary for the type of work you want to do? Reciprocity agreements: Some countries have agreements with the USA (like the Washington Accord) that recognize each other's engineering qualifications. This can make it easier to get your PE license recognized in another country. You can check with your local engineering governing body if they have any such agreements. Alternative routes to licensure: Many countries have their own systems for licensing engineers. You may be able to get licensed based on your education, experience, and exams specific to that country. Here are some resources that can help you learn more: NCEES International Professionals page: ncees.org/ Engineers Mobility Forum (EMF): www.gsma.com/publicpolicy/gsma-emf-forum-2022-sets-out-the-roadmap-for-emf-policy-harmonisation%EF%BF%BC Washington Accord: www.ieagreements.org/accords/washington/ Ultimately, the decision of whether to pursue a PE license outside the USA is a personal one. You should weigh the costs, benefits, and your specific career goals before making a decision. I hope this information helps!

Do you have any thoughts on companies that provide preparation courses and materials for the PE exam such as PPI to Pass or ASCE? It would be helpful to know your perspective on these avenues of study and if they are good for motivating and holding one accountable to a strict study schedule. And also, if the cost of these prep courses is worth it.

@PassthePEExam Год назад
To be eligible to take the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in the United States, you must have completed at least a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution or be within one academic year of completing such a degree. Since you have already completed your degree in Europe, this requirement should be satisfied.

I passed the Transportation PE this past October. For resources, you definitely need the Green Book, HCM, MUTCD, HSM, and RDG. I wouldn’t worry about any of the concrete/asphalt/culvert/ped books unless you can get them for free. Even then, I wouldn’t bring it unless I felt familiar with it. For the breadth, the School of PE breadth textbook from Amazon was by far my biggest aid. I brought the CERM but didn’t use it. It’s just way too in depth to be useful IMO

Excellent question and the answer is "depends." It depends on the State and the type of work you did and how you present it. I was able to get mine to count, but I would say it a case by case basis.

I am an electrical engineer and have recently moved to the USA, having a professional experience of 27 years in the electrical engineering field. Will I be eligible for the PE exam without passing FE exam?
@PassthePEExam
@PassthePEExam Год назад
In general, to become a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the United States, you need to pass both the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam. However, each state has its own licensing requirements, so it is best to check with the licensing board in the state where you plan to work. Some states may offer exemptions from the FE exam requirement for experienced engineers who meet certain criteria, such as having a certain amount of professional experience or holding a certain degree. However, these exemptions are not universal and vary by state. It is also worth noting that passing the FE exam may help you prepare for the more advanced PE exam, as the two exams cover related topics. Even if you are eligible for an exemption from the FE exam, you may still want to consider taking it to better prepare for the PE exam and demonstrate your competence to potential employers. Ultimately, I would recommend checking with the licensing board in the state where you plan to work for specific guidance on licensing requirements and exemptions.

If you are civil ingeneering from Nicaragua, You can get the licence in florida?
@PassthePEExam
@PassthePEExam Год назад
If you have a civil engineering degree from Nicaragua, you may be able to obtain a PE license in Florida if your degree is from a university that is accredited by an organization recognized by the Florida Board of Professional Engineers. You will also need to take and pass the FE and PE exams, as well as meet other licensing requirements set forth by the board. It is important to note that the licensure requirements for engineers can vary from state to state, so you should check the specific requirements for Florida and make sure that you meet all of the eligibility criteria before applying for a PE license. You may also want to consider consulting with a professional engineer or a licensing specialist to help you navigate the application process.

If I have an M.eng degree, should I be eligible for PE exam?
@PassthePEExam
@PassthePEExam 4 месяца назад
@aunkanmashreky1098 Having an M.Eng degree can make you eligible for the PE exam, but it depends on a few factors: 1. State requirements: Each state in the US has its own engineering licensing board that determines the qualifications for the PE exam. While a Bachelor's degree in engineering is typically the baseline requirement, some states allow a Master's degree in engineering to substitute for a portion of the work experience required to take the PE exam. 2. Content of your M.Eng degree: The specific content of your M.Eng degree might be reviewed by the licensing board. Ideally, your Master's program covered relevant engineering topics that align with the PE exam you plan to take. Here's how a Master's degree can help with PE exam eligibility: **Reduced experience requirement: In some states, having a Master's degree in engineering can reduce the number of years of work experience needed before you can take the PE exam. This can potentially expedite your path to becoming a licensed PE. Here's what to do to confirm your eligibility: 1. Contact your state's engineering licensing board: They can provide the most accurate and up-to-date information on PE exam eligibility requirements in your state. You can find the contact information for your state's board online by searching "[State name] engineering licensing board". 2. Review the board's website: Many state licensing boards have detailed information about PE exam requirements on their websites. Look for sections on eligibility criteria and how a Master's degree can be applied towards experience requirements. By following these steps, you can definitively determine if your M.Eng degree makes you eligible to take the PE exam in your state.
