I sold my 2011 ram 2500 cummins to downsize to a half ton. I spent 6 months researching trucks that would work for me. I never even considered the titan until i read the specs on them. I got a 2009 with 198,xxx mi last year and its been awesome. My favorite part is how freakin fast they are. The fastest vehicle ive ever owned. Amazing ride quality and for the prices you get a lot of "new vehicle" features in an older truck. Honestly the most underrated vehicle ive ever seen. Truck guys that don't know about them will bash them but the guys that do know about them will understand how great these trucks really are. Only issue ive had is having to replace exhaust manifolds but theres plenty of parts out there. Also parts are NOT expensive for these great trucks too. Cannot go wrong with a first gen titan. Id suggest 2008 and up if you look to get one. 2008-2015 had least amount of known problems and they are damn good looking in my opinion. Thanks for reading this whole post if you got to the end haha

I've had to use the 4wd system many times in all types of weather and terrain. (Family farm where I grew up.) No issues as all with this truck. I bought my 1st Gen 2004 Titan for $19,500 OTD in Sept of 2004, when Ford and Chevy wouldn't let a basic model out for $24K. When I fired it up for a test drive, the motor instantly reminded me of my 1968 Chevelle SS with the 396BB and the L88 Camshaft. I Replaced the Tranny at 246K miles, just changed the differential fluid for the 1ST TIME at 278K miles and found very little metal and the gears looked perfect. I am just now replacing the 2 front wheel hubs because I am hearing a growl on the road after changing some 6 year old tires and thought the tires may be the culprit. Yesterday I changed the driver's seat bottom cushion (swapped it with the passenger cushion since it was barely used. My Titan has been BULLET PROOF. I have never babied it or abused it but I swear by this Truck. BTW, Bought my son a used one with 321K miles on it (back in 2016) and it purred like a kitten.

I am the proud owner of a 2016 Titan XD Platinum Reserve model. So far, apart from regular oil changes I haven’t had any major mechanical expenses. I replaced the original stock tires and am expecting to have to do a brake job one of these days but that is just part of vehicle ownership. The 5.6 litre Endurance V8 has gobs of power and the interior is roomy with the most comfy seats of any I have ever sat in. The overall fit and finish is beyond that of any comparable Ford or Chevy, in my opinion and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Nissan Titan to anyone who is contemplating purchasing a full sized pickup.

I appreciate the depth and detail of this vid, but have to disagree on the decision.. I debated for several months between the Titan and Tundra, but in the end I preferred the Titans I test drove. Nissan's handling is smoother and the ride seemed softer (regardless of TRD or Pro4x). Also, the crew cab Tundras are simply excessive compared to the Titans. I can sleep comfortably in the back seat of the Titan, but the back row of the Tundra goes too far beyond what is necessary and simply detracts from the "truck" use of the vehicle. After driving a few of each, I would say the Titan is more of a daily use truck, whereas the Tundra is a family SUV with a bit of bonus bed space... Icing on the cake was the Titan's motor, what a beautiful sound! I would take a Tundra over American trucks anyday, but the Titan is still #1 best value in my book. By far the smoothest and best designed truck I've driven.

Hi Bill. I just found your channel and am enjoying it. One thing I've done in the past to measure vehicle reliability is to ask an auto dismantler about their replacement prices for the major powertrain components. The way dismantlers price their parts is by use of a computerized supply and demand algorithm. More reliable parts are comparatively less expensive because the demand is less and visa versa. I learned about this from my brother who runs a dismantling yard. He's the guy I call to find out which models and powertrain combinations are less prone to failure. Thanks for your videos !!!

It does need the exhaust gaskets replaced, but runs like a top and has zero issues. It has a performance chip, dual exhaust, and a 2.5” lift with 295-70-18 tires. I would highly recommend picking a decent used one up as they are easy to maintain, have relatively few issues, a ton of power and space. Pathfinders (older 90s chassis) are lovely off road, the Frontier, Xtrail, XTerra are all also really good vehicles that you see sitting in the same drive way for years because these vehicles refuse to fail the driver. Nissan has dropped the ball a few times over the last 2 decades but when it comes to rough and rugged they work really great and well as much as people rag on the Altima, that car proves that they build things that should really exist (imagine any other Japanese sedan passing you doing 20-50 more than you on a high way with a ton of body damage but still driving straight)

I own a 2012 Nissan Titan Pro4x 160k I've owned the truck for a little over 5 years. The only issue I've had was the battery terminal became corroded and broke. I lost all power. I had changed all fluids as needed. The truck is great, plenty of power. I towed a 25 foot Bennington tritoon from Illinois to Hot Springs Ar. No issues at all. I've driven to Florida 2 times, Louisiana, Missouri. The truck continues to impress me. If you have any doubts, DON'T.... These trucks are made to last. Maintenance, is key.

Front wheel hub assemblies have been replaced (TIMKEN) at 144K. Entire rear differential and axle assembly replaced under warranty at 56K. Issues with starting solved with a $5 ignition relay. AC recharged 10 years ago. Transmission cooler hoses replaced due to failure at about 140K. 08 with 180K here, no oil leaks, tiny power steering leak, climate control, diverter clicks and my replacement. It must have been in the wrong position when I did it because it still happens and now the climate control dash module unit needs replacement. Windows got stuck so I had to replace those but that's an easy job. I just bought the entire unit with both rails and motor, bushings need replaced at this point and the rear axle did build up too much pressure causing a leak that led to needing to replace half the rear axle, which wasn't too complicated but I recommend the modification where you go through the closed port on the passenger side of the rear axle with a tube routed up into the tail light with a filter on the end like some have done to allow for expansion and contraction when heat builds up, I tow heavy loads. I have added the Triton load. Leveling gigantic bushings to replace the normal bump stops in the back as an alternative to air shocks because these will never fail and never require maintenance and they have eliminated squat when I am at the limit of what the Titan can hold and the ride is nice too. I did replace all shocks and struts a couple years ago. I used the heavy duty rancho adjustables but I just leave them on the roughest ride. I forget what I used in front. This thing has run like a champ. Oh yeah the third overhead brake light leaked and got all my seats wet so that needed attention as well. But considering almost 200,000 mi you can't complain. Everything under the hood has remained rock solid and leak proof except for the power steering leak which has made a mess everywhere but it's not bad enough to have to keep an eye on the level for some reason. I really need to address that when you have the money. You don't have the time and when you have the time you don't have the money...

I'm only at 80,000 on a 2010 king cab. The only problems I have had was 1- The climate control actuators, but because they are buried behind the dash the labor is over $1000 (Parts and labor). 2- a little rust over rear wheel well which is common on any pickup over 10 years old and 3- a corroded steering pump cooler line ($400 parts and labor). Minor issues have been... Rear sonar speaker ($10 fix, no skill required) and the tailgate lever linkage disconnecting (free fix, minor skill required). Never had a check engine light and I love it and will hopefully keep it for another 10 years. I'm not light footed either... 😎

2005 Nissan Titan owner. Mine's got far few miles on it (165,000) because she's not driven all the time, but I love that truck. 165,000 miles and she starts immediately, purrs like a cat and will still spin tires all day if I punch the gas. She's quiet inside when driving; no rattles, dings, squeaks or other noises that suggest things are coming loose. And I get way better gas mileage than most other people I know who have trucks of a similar configuration. Only complaint I have is the catalectic converters went out and those aren't cheap to replace.

I've got to weigh in on this because I am the worst owner a vehicle ever had. I'm on my second Titan bought my first in 05 new, put 270,000 miles on it. I changed the oil every 12 to 15,000 miles drove it everyday as a work , a rear end in at 180000. Brakes and Tires were the only other expenses. I bought an 08 in 2015 and I still drive it same situation, I treat trucks like crap. Start every time and has never let me down. 240000 still going strong. But there are two issues about these trucks pre 2009, the cats clogged up at a hundred and seventy-five thousand miles in both trucks and the rear end leaks in both trucks I replaced the one as I described above but not the 2008. I'm in the market for a 2015 Titan with less than a hundred thousand miles so I can beat the hell out of it too. It is the perfect work truck
