This is awesome info you're doing for the people who don't have the money for big names. If I were starting out again, I would be glad to have your videos
Parker squashed the controversy whether gothic 12s can take 1000 watts or more. Great video!! Best one yet in my book. I think you could do a lot of different videos in the budget arena of car audio...maybe even straight up spl system with a lot or mostly cheaper items. Good job dude!
@@SbassLaser idk I have 2 of them for over a year now and they haven't blown . I have a crown xli3500 dj amp in my garage. They're not bad for 100 bucks.
They cant take 1250rms for long at all skar 1200 froze one up asap......if you wanna smell subs allday on half power buy these coils turned black my sundown sa 12s will will take it an never get warm an the sa rated less rms power
@@boostedmk5gti563 I probably would only trust 600 to 900 rms in them for any length of time. Everyone knows they're inflating what they can take; it's just marketing to grab your attention I suppose.
I disagree. Most the time I see them not working. Due to set up and even when set up right they either smoke or max out easy. Skar audio is a better choice get some svr 12 bet that would be louder. There is more brands I would choose over those.
EVERY HUMAN BEING IS BUILT DIFFERENT!! I'm almost 40, been bassin since 15, and competing. I go to the ear doctor every 6 months. Absolutely NO hearing damage or loss. (Not saying won't or will happen) That's also only 55hz and down. That I really expose myself to with 140-168.3. Also never for super long periods of time. So all in all. #BASSATYOUROWNRISK #BUTKEEPBASSIN #BASSHEADFAMILY
Yeah, I have seen plenty that says bass is fine. Hearing is usually damaged around the frequencies of exposure. A bit of hearing loss at 25hz is not going to have a huge impact on life or really even be noticeable in most cases. Its the guys that run all the mids and especially tweeters at ridiculously high power they wind up with issues. I have to do yearly hearing exams for work and mine stays roughly the same, it has actually improved slightly over the last couple of years which I attribute to some diet and exercise changes.
Try the subs facing up and ports facing back but keep space between port and back . Or speakers facing back and ports up. It would be cool to see which way is louder
Power acoustic doesn’t do rated power but damn these things are impressive. Love these videos where underdog subs get the justice they deserve especially for the price
If your learning about car audio its the best sub since its cheap and easily replaced . I have a single gothic on 800w that pulls 130's from the trunk so box matters a lot here .
I've been really impressed with the Gothic subs. I bought a pair for my son's first build. Ran a Autotek mean machine on them. I had the PA amp also, but the Autotek had a little more power.
Use lots of Titebond 3 and clamps. Also Bracing where you can. And keep ports roughly the width of the port away from the back of the box. I love the pa subs
Nice video. I use to run 2 Gothic off of a 4000 watt anarchy and they thumped nice! I was surprised by the quality for the price! When the box breaks before the subs blow its a nice thing! Good job!
@@vaughandieselsweeklyword9331 I’ve never heard of any of that equipment so I think you’re probably right. Based off the name, I’d guess 300 watts. I love when the reviews on Amazon of BOSS amps and subs talk about how hard they hit and how clean it sounds 😂
Nice. I've got to old planet audio bb10d4 in a yaris on a tramps hd3k. Finally 1 of them the glue started coming apart. Rebuilt it and beating it hard again. It's fun to play with the cheaper subs. I've had just about all of them over the years. The box is everything. Keep up coming.
Remove that baffle with those aero ports and run a slot port. Aero ports are the easy way of doing it they are adjustable, but they rattle so it distorts sound. Add bracing to the box and give it 1 last GO. I mentioned a couple videos back To run those Subs on a real amp and you would notice a difference. In a small area when you're in that same spot as the subs and port , *trucks* the space is so small that port and speaker directions only effect the sound minimally. Good video Parker!
I agree the round ports sound the same as when your subs aren't sealed to the baffle correctly. The way the air has to escape sees rough. Like it's forced out rather then flowing out if that makes sense to anyone else.
@@sovereignsammy8528if you have removed rear seats you find it best with port forward and sub forward Port back and sub back with seats installed causes it to echo a little bouncing off the trunk lid before reaching the rear deck then your ears. Cars are picky because you're putting sound in a sealed area with very little option for it to escape to be heard. That's why you'll find tons of folks run SUV's for bass vehicles. Just overall best option.
I would have made the port out of wood. Designed the box with one big port. Never have to worry about it breaking or coming loose. This is how my box is designed for my 4 12s. It handkes 4800+ watts all day long. It has a 2 inch thick baffle.
I would love to see a test on those 15's where you run one free air like you did with the Deaf Bonce and the Sundown. I considered buying a pair to try but I don't know if I trust a basically unknown company. If it survived 5 minutes at or slightly above RMS I would for sure pick up a pair to replace my Deaf Bonce 305's.
Wait, unknown company? Lol power acoustik been around prolly longer than you been alive. Not always the best brand but they been around. The bamf and the mofo series arent really that bad . Havent messed with the gothics much but looks like they holding up ok..
That's the main reason I wouldn't want a port like that. The rattle would drive me nuts! Slot port all the way! Great video though Parker. Shows you can have loud bass without breaking the bank.
It's best, to secure the port inside the enclosure as well. Make a brace, and cut a hole in the brace, just like the opening of the enclosure, and secure it to the inside of the box as well. Keeps aero ports secure and braced inside, as well as screwed to the outside.
I'm running six of these power acoustic gothic 12s with 3 of the power acoustic Rzr1-2500 amps and I was very surprised on how they sound.. I've had them for over a year and have been beating on them and I've never had issues.. I have a couple of videos on my page check them out
I appreciate you admitting your mistakes. Everybody does dumb shit. My alternator started making a lot noise so I put my old one back in. I was running a tap through the screw holes just to clean them up a little bit and I accidentally touched the power cable to the battery and damn that scared the hell out of me. It took a big chunk out of the side of the tap. I didn't feel anything and nothing else broke.
Beat da box loose i love my 2 gothics when i had em you jus made me regret sellin em seeing they were the best subs ive ever owned in the almost year i been into thus hobby lol
I been did this years ago to prove to my homeboy who spent thousands on his system.i went to Wal-Mart and killed the whole neighborhood but thanks Parker.
also these subs i've seen in a really low tuned box, just i dont remember the exactly the tuning freq, but it was 25 hz or lower, and they liked that box...
Parker , I’m running 2 of these gothics in a trailblazer on the razor 2500 at 1 ohm, I have a 5 cube box tuned to 30hz, I wish I could SPL it I think I’m close to a 150
Idea for a next video maybe show the guys how much difference some dowels to reinforce the box makes. Maybe a little seal tape on that back window would help too.
Build two different boxes and then face the subs towards each other as well as having the ports on the same side as a sub so everything is facing each other
I have a sa 12 right now just to throw in to my Tahoe why the other big build is coming together I am doing 1 zv6 15 d1 on a tramps 8k just because I plan on doing 2 sooner or later but for the time being it’s gonna be the 1 in a 6th order 2-1 on the tramps with a 370 mechmen and 2 d3100s hope it sounds good
U need to use wood glue on those boxes u make bro.. I've been seeing your past videos of u building boxes and u never use glue. U can't use silicone to hold it together
Ill tell u one thing they may be from walmart but they have taken evetything you have thrown at them not bad at all better than the rockvilkes you tested they would have been gone by now keep bassing great video brother
Now think about it this way Parker, if you took and added up the cost off all these junk 12's and them two razr amps you could've bought a pair of American Bass 15's and been slappin hard!
Not enough power. I had a soundstream that put out legit 2600rms and it made my 4 gothics stink but never blew them. I upgraded to taramps smart 5 bass and its alot harder to make em stink.
@@happyrootsfamily1276 dam! Three more lol thats awesome! Youll be slammin then lol Oh and i meant wire a pair of those subs to 1ohm to one amp and do the same to the other pair. Lol not possible to wire a pair of 4ohm to two ohm my bad
