As a young healthy adult should I avoid vitamin C and other antioxidants when using HBOT?

Hi Leon. It’s a tricky question. As a general rule, taking antioxidants with HBOT is not recommended, here is why. HBOT has an oxidative effect that is stimulation a body to produce internal antioxidants. However in the case of people with chronic disease or when other oxidative therapies are being used at the same time, antioxidants might be taken together with a hyperbaric session.

@Hyperbaric Living with Dr. Masha yes that'd what I was thinking. It would appear to hinder hyperbaric effects by taking lots of antioxidants. I'm on week 2 of my 30 sessions in hopes to restore my sudden hearing loss. I wonder what supplements would then increase the effects of hyperbaric for a healthy adult...

I have had an open wound on the bottom of my right foot for 3 months now which will not heal. My doctor tells me it's not healing because of a condition I have called peripheral neuropathy. I am not diabetic. Has anyone out there had a positive experience using Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy to treat such a non-healing wound?

Hi Matt, hyperbaric oxygen is excellent for healing a non-healing wound. Often times these wounds don't heal because of the compromised blood supply and HBOT can correct that.

How do you determine the pressure used?

Based on the diagnosis and overall health status. For example, diabetic wounds require 2.0 and higher.

Hi, it depends on what you will be using this treatment for. Before starting hyperbaric therapy I recommend that you consult with a hyperbaric physician. They will develop a protocol that will work specifically in your situation. Hope this helps
