I would argue that the “Jump” feature from the map doesn’t count, as it doesn’t use the B button. Otherwise, great video!

yes but there's another reason. the map jump is a superjump the same thing agent 3 performs when touches a launchpad.

The zapfish was always a black colour. I think they were just making the artwork pop by making it blue. The difference in its appearance that Shiver mentioned is that for some reason he now has a funny little strand of hair.

Another way you can complete the 'Enemy Ink Is Lava!' stage without jumping is rapidly going in and out of squid form! If you're patient and don't go too far, squidflopping can *very slowly* spread your ink forward without expending any ink/getting you killed. It's also a pretty popular cheese strat playing it regularly! Banger video, the editing was super good and I can't believe your masochistic self did this so fast after launch. Incredible ♡

Thanks for watching! As I mentioned at the end (while the background music was too loud, editing mistake on my part), I'll be making a follow up video within the next week-ish focused on the extra difficult, 'secret level' of Alterna. Any useful ideas / tips for reducing jumps will be addressed in that one :)

I think this is going to far out of what we're looking at here but I've seen in speedruns that by messing with the menu in some way at a certain point you can create a bugged pause that during the rocket levels or final boas with skip an entire phase just by hitting the + button which could shave off a jump in one of those end sections if done correctly. you'd have to research how its done though

I feel compelled to speak my mind. As an editor I feel that the videos you make are good. Specifically, You sound solid and the way the video is make works well. I find over editing to be distracting at times. So bits and small injections of stuff is fine. This video is riding that line for me of being entertaining but not overly distracting nor annoying. That being said, just know that you are doing good work. You don't have to rely of that stuff too much and I'm perfectly content with the normal gameplay/commentary of the run :) (i bet that muppet part took a hot minute though lol)

Thank you so much for the kind words :D The "muppet bit" is from the Don't Hug Me I'm Scared tv show. It actually was much quicker to edit than, say, the Xenoblade Chronicles bit. I edit in Davinci Resolve, and I used a new(ish) feature called Magic Mask. Made masking out the characters fairly easy.

Never thought someone would make a "minimum jumps" challenge for splatoon since it's usually a useless move. kind of cool to see that there are actually areas that you need to jump for haha (besides the jumps on the final battle of course, since they are really spread out)

@@DPadGamer if you look at the clips you put in the video touching enemy ink doesn't kill you instantly/only touching a little bit doesn't kill you. the ink still stretches if you're standing completely in your ink :)

Hmm could squid rolling help cancel out some jumps? You do it by swimming fast enough to see ink coming up, then flicking the joystick in any other direction. I know it gives a little height, could it be enough? Edit* never mind actually! I forgot you have to press the jump button as well to squid roll 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ Great video as always, looking forward to the next!

I don’t think the Super Jump button in the menu as jumps. Also you could Squid Roll over some ledges if you time it right, meaning some jumps can be shaved off.

Yup! If this mission has gaps of roughly 2.5 squid kids wide, the one i said takes 7 jumps has 3 squid kid wide gaps, if not 3.25.

@@DPadGamer I FOUND A SOLUTION! on Site 5 mission 7, at the very start of the mission, you can hit the 8 balloons as normal, and then press and hold B as you fall down to the first ride rail. you will get a slightly higher jump every time you reach the end of each ride rail resulting in 0 jumps. (hold the B button through the entire level after pressing it down once)

The jump counter was specific to the jumps needed inside the mission itself. TBH I should done it a little differently.

Site 1, Mission 1. You have to jump to get into the kettle, so it displayed an X, as in, not accessible jumpless. The jump counter is "0", because no jumps are necessary to beat that mission.
