This is a crazy-hard test of your English language vocabulary.
If it gets too bamboozling, just sit back and try to learn as many new words as you can. This is a test of your vocab like no other, and particularly useful if you want to learn GRE vocab, learn new words for the GRE, or are just searching for a GRE vocab list.
I offer private GRE / GMAT tutoring online at a fixed rate of $140/hr. Please get in touch via the email below, or through my tutoring website: www.gretutorlondon.com/
Enquiries: philip@gretutorlondon.com If you’re now ready to get into your dream MBA program, my former student, Angel, is offering virtual private Admissions coaching. She was admitted into Harvard Business School, The Wharton School of Business, and Columbia Business School (accepted into every school she interviewed for) after graduating from UCLA with a degree in Communication. She also got 3 perfect scores on the GRE’s Analytical Writing Assessment (99th percentile).
Here is her link - linktr.ee/angel_accel - and you can reach her at angellinzhu@gmail.com with the subject line, “PHILIP SENT ME.”

This game goes on forever. Best is to not look at the top definition and try to guess for all five options and then match with the top. That way you are always refreshing your memory.

Finally finished this video! What would be great is to have a list of frequent prefixes or suffixes, e.g. mono-, dis-, etc. with their signification. These help so much and give indication as to the meaning of a word one might not know. Anyone knows of such a useful sheet?

I know you like etymology. Sycophant comes from the ancient Greek for “showing the fig” like the English: “flipping the bird”. The ancient Greeks, however, did not show the middle finger, but rather would squeeze their thumb between the index and middle fingers, making a shape resembling…well, the vulva. The most widely accepted explanation is that politicians would themselves refrain from using this gesture against their opponents, so as not to be seen stooping. Instead, they would instruct their toadies/henchmen (or sycophants, if you will) to go out and make this slanderous gesture against political enemies!

I know the word "gamete" which is a haploid cell ready to combine with another to become a zygote. To me, gamete is something very young, which relates to the phrase 'gamin' in that it is a kid on the streets.

Maybe you have heard the word "onery" pronounced in many different ways 'onry', 'ornry' 'awnry'. This is when a person (usually a child) is being stubborn and just doing what they want. I believe this has some relation to the word onerous.

Here's a way to remember the word peripatetic; Peri basically sounds like the name Perry, Perry the platypus. Perry the platypus is an agent, and he goes on missions, he is a worker, who travels around.

Hi, can you make a video on how to effectively maintain an error log for verbal questions. Especially the RC questions. Moreover is it better to maintain it in word document or a journal? And how often to review the mistakes?
@TheTestedTutor
@TheTestedTutor 4 года назад
Great idea Tooba. I need to keep a log of all the ideas people suggest! I think either a journal or doc is fine, just the act of writing it down helps the brain solidify the memory. If it's a journal try to keep it neat otherwise it becomes unreadable.

I don't know why English language needs to have so many difficult words which after learning, may not use it as the bulk of the people you interact with also do not know the words.
@TheTestedTutor
@TheTestedTutor 3 года назад
You can express yourself more and more clearly. Think of the difference between knowing just the word 'bad' versus knowing 'noxious, pugnacious, lackadaisical, morose' etc.
