Super happy to inform that I got all of them correct, either by knowing the target words or by eliminating the options to arrive at the solution. Thank you, Philip. Keep posting more. 👍

I just found your channel and I’m thrilled!! Your videos have been extraordinarily helpful. I was particularly excited for this video as I have been using the same quiz for practice. It was an excellent mental exercise. (I may be a bit more enthusiastic because it helps me to build my vocabulary skills and I can crochet simultaneously.) Thank you so much for this helpful content!

Probably a silly question, but how do you keep track of all the words you've learned? I know some people do flashcards (but don't know how effective that is), I've been keeping a journal that I add to daily with definitions synonyms and example sentences but don't know how much that's helping. Do you just use the tips from the previous video to associate a word with a nickname and remember in your head? Or do you physically keep a list? Thank you!!
@TheTestedTutor
@TheTestedTutor 5 лет назад
Great question. A journal will help but only if it doesn't slow you down too much. How about trying to retain the definitions in your head during the day and then spending 20 minutes at the end of each day typing up the ones you remember. That would be a good balance. If you just purely copy and paste onto a document you are not giving your brain a chance to stretch itself. I used memory only but a balance is good.
@jenniferzamudio4774
@jenniferzamudio4774 5 лет назад
@@TheTestedTutor That sounds like a good plan! That way I can see what I've retained and what I still need to practice. I do feel as if the journal is holding me back from being able to learn more words, and I practiced your nickname method this morning and had better success remembering than before. Thank you, I appreciate your help! Love the videos by the way, super helpful! ☺️

Lots of fun. Got 2 wrong, immure and antipathy. I was thinking antipathy more in terms of aversion and not deep seated hate. Oh well. Never heard of immure but like your explanation. Think mural or wall. You are by far the best out there!! I might take the GRE for law school. I'm retiring from medicine and might look for something to do just for fun and keep my mind occupied. Maybe do pro bono work for those who need it.

Hey fellow British tutor! Think this is the first time I have ever commented on a RU-vid vid. It's because they're great and you have a real knack for connecting with people. Anyway, I'm currently studying for the GRE. My knowledge of vocab is pretty solid (knew 95% of words on the quiz) but I really struggle on the GRE RC and would love to chat with you regarding a lesson. Would you please ping me your email address?

In the long term by reading lots and lots, stuff such as Economist and New York Times and fiction books, but in the short term by hammering vocab tests such as these.
