hot (/s) take, "stereotypical angry trans woman" is a trope meant to silence people who are upset about being harmed. Being trans shouldn't preclude you from being angry any more than it should anyone else--which, is, of course, demonstrated in other areas too like the "angry black woman" stereotype
I'm not sure if it was deliberately intended as such form that start, but yes, a lot of the time when a trans woman shows genuine anger, there's an immediate ' SEE?! SEE?! IT'S JUST AN ANGRY MAN' backlash. ... and if they don't, they're 'overperfoming femininity and being fake.'
As an AFAB non-binary person who frequently gets asked, “To give people patience,” when they first find out about my pronouns (including by people who clearly don’t mean anything by it) and has made the mistake of being upset publicly, it applies to trans guys and AFAB non-binary people too and just closes peoples ears to the thought that we might have a reason to be upset with their behavior.
When people can merely identify as a victim class, and victimization is empowerment then asserting victimhood is enforcing oppresive tolerance. "I've been victimized so I'm not responsible for my actions and can have a lower standard than everyone else when it comes to anything in life."
Kind of ironic to invite trans people under false pretenses to make a film that complains about people who, according to him, are misrepresenting themselves.

@@sylvainmichaud2262 Sorry, not to defend Walsh, but I've seen quite a few people do this. I find it a bit sus to insinuate that he's a PDF file with little to no evidence. From what I've seen of him, it seems like he just... resents children and sees them as little more than a nuisance, which makes it more bizarre that he has four of them. I'm actually more worried that he abuses his own kids (either physically or through neglect)

Fun fact because I find this fascinating: there’s modern forensic science techniques specifically for identifying gnc and trans individuals from heavily decomposed or skeletonized remains, since not recognizing those factors makes identifying a victim extremely difficult. Though the most obvious signs are considered facial reconstruction surgery, if someone’s been taking hormones long enough their muscle structure changes, which shows up on their bones! And, speaking from an archeological perspective, though we can no longer ask them who they where or how they identified, remains have been found that did not present as their assigned gender. Furthermore, sex traits on skeletons, especially the skull, can sometimes get extremely fiddly! Even a cis skull, modern or ancient can be misidentified.

Matt Walsh so clearly has a wallet where most people have a soul and it shines in the way he tries to both weaponize and MONETIZE innocent children while being so throughly uninterested in the performance he’s forcing himself to put on. Even a cashier can fake more soul.
That's because cashiers often have kind nurturing souls that are slowly strangled whenever they're at work. Walsh is a man who bricked up his soul inside a wall cask of emantiado style and never lets it out, ever.
@@jamiehopkins3796 Wrong. Teaching kids about LGBTQ topics and exposing them to LGBTQ topics does not turn them gay or trans, because conversion therapy does not work. Study after study has thoroughly refuted the idea that a person's sexuality or gender identity can be forcibly changed through outside influence. If you think merely hearing about trans issues will turn people trans, that says more about you than it does about anyone else. Also, you're misreading the study, probably on purpose. The "resolution" of gender dysphoria was based on misdiagnoses, so that doesn't count. The suicide rate post-transition did in fact decrease, but was still higher than the general population due to discrimination from transphobes, like you. And for someone so concerned about messing with children's brains, nothing does that more so than your pushing trans kids back into the closet and forcing them to live out their assigned gender role.
Matt Walsh was irrationally angry over a book that teaches kids about consent and that they’re allowed to say no. I already felt a certain way about him and his anger at that book verified what I thought about him…
I think a more accurate explanation can be found by watching the “I hate mondays” video in the alt right playbook series. Basically right wingers are subsceptible to a form of magical thinking of “talking about a thing is what makes it happen, we agree in pure theory that people getting hurt is bad but there’s no way to fully eliminate it so talking about it beyond thoughts and prayers is sinister”. So a conservative getting mad about talking about consent doesn’t necessarily mean he’s an abuser (though he may well be), just that the logical fallacies ingrained in his brain lead him to advocate for just shutting up about abuse

I really connected with the moment where the little tiny sweetie-pie child walks up to the bad book man and says, "So what's this thing doing on the floor, though?" First, thanks to that child for neither eating that unidentified object, nor forcing it into his or anyone else's orifices. Second, that kind of thing happens a lot to us uncharismatic teachers who can't engage a class even at the bast of times for more than a few seconds. It was so reassuring to see a confident white man endure that while he tries to both do them harm and use them as pawns harming other people. When kids start picking stuff up off the floor, it's well past song and game time, but aren't we all glad we didn't have to see the bad book man sing a song or play a game with little tiny ones? @@calvinwhite8231 You know? If someone says "I have a hard time understanding that" on an explanation about gender dysphoria, that's OK. I get that, it's how most people have never had that second thought about how their body looks and why that doesn't looks what they feel inside that trans people usually will have had, sometimes from a very young age onwards. That's not transphobia, that's someone who tried their best to be genuinely curious and acknowledges that taking time to understand something might be needed, or that it might not ever land with someone, but who is a person with basic respect in trying to understand you. Matt Walsh however is someone who thinks it needs to be perfectly fine that, as an ADULT male, it needs to be normalized to hate a very particular group of children, and stoke his "fans" to bomb-threat a children's hospital for spreading the lie about what that hospital supposedly was doing to transchildren (surgeries performed on children below 16, which is not true), with his fans being just stupid and angry and especially fearful enough for not realizing that that hospital also has OTHER forms of medical care in wards all across the building. So when he viciously shouts we need to be "protecting children": maybe do that, maybe do that by NOT hating a particular group of children as an adult man, maybe not incite violence against a complete CHILDREN's hospital just because you ignore the fact that there are other wards than a gender clinic in there. Maybe not attack transchildren if you are so concerned with their wellbeing as an ADULT. THAT's when and why we call someone transphobic, not someone not being unable to understand a single thing, but when it's someone's mere goal to get legislation to pass based on lies, fear and a vicious hatred of transpeople and ALSO likes to monetize off of these viewpoints, and does it's ABSOLUTE best to visit meetings he should not be capable of speaking at (for not being a parent or citizen of a city or state of the school that the meeting is for). Next to this: he makes absolutely sure to call us groomers, rapists (and shooting himself in the foot with that one, according to him transwomen are all just men wanting to rape women, so that includes him ;) ), brings up the supposed brainwashing that we do ALL the time. That's when and why we call someone transphobic. The mere fact you fail to see this distinction ALONG with the fact that the trans community has been surprisingly resilient AND composed in responding to these deranged individuals who are spewing so much hate, is really worrying.

There is something I can’t stand about the whole “if they found your bones they would classify you as the sex you’re born with, so why should we respect your gender identity?” argument: For one, archaeological digs can also uncover items and clothing with the remains which might indicate more about who the person was and how they might have identified or been seen in their time. Even then, it will likely be very different to contemporary notions of gender identity or roles. Furthermore, and this is more personal, it doesn’t matter what people initially think of my bone structure or whatever if they found my body hundreds to thousands of years in the future! I will be too dead to care by then! It’s more important that people recognize and respect my identity and personhood HERE AND NOW while I’m alive, and whatever physical features I or anyone else might have is not going to stop that, because the internal sense of self is not bound by the constraints of the body. This is not to say that one shouldn’t make whatever actions for their body to fit their internal self, just that the physical body should not be the arbiter of whether the internal self is recognized. It’s not hard to treat someone with dignity, even when their experience in and of the world is different from yours
He isn't even telling the truth about the archaeologists in the future being able to tell your gender. The skeletons with distinct gender characteristics are rare. @@pilomalik9696 TLDR: Matt influences people to be openly transphobic, something that can literally be a death sentence to queer folks as people get killed and no one bats an eye, and both issues are equally as important since we need to solve BOTH of them if we want to live peacefully. Obviously war is a more urgent matter, but let's not pretend that queer people aren't affected by war and in different ways, as I am mentioning later on. We are murdered in the streets and no one bats an eye, in what is supposed to be a civilized society. Matt Walsh's rhetoric IS dangerous and deadly. The fact that other things can be dangerous and deadly doesn't negate this situation's danger and deadliness. The fact that you are so quick to dismiss people's suffering just shows how privileged you are. I mentioned it above, queer people are murdered in my country. As I mentioned above, a friend of mine got chased by dudes while being yelled transphobic slurs at. There's been attacks against trans people in my city and no one batted an eye. A young queer person was grabbed by the throat and punched for wearing eyeshadow. A trans woman went missing and after a few days they found her dead body in the street, she was the victim of a hit n run cause our lives mean so little to people. There was a young queer person, who was being chased, went into a jewelry store to hide. He was obviously not well, as he was stumbling around. The guy fell to the ground and the owner of the shop started kicking him in the head. When the police arrived on the scene they ALSO started kicking his head when he tried to get away from the shop owner. That guy was killed due to all the head trauma. That guy was a famous queer rights activist, and drag queen, Zackie. Existing as ourselves, outside of society's boxes of what gender and presentation are is literally extremely dangerous for us as we could get abused, chased, catcalled and then ridiculed, murdered and left for dead. We have to keep our heads low if we want to keep them. I'm not negating the importance of war as it is a horrible thing that thousands of people die from, but this isn't the video for that. Which is why it wasn't mentioned. EVEN IF war is ALSO fkn shit for queer people, obviously. Like those trans women in Ukraine right now who cannot exit their country because Ukraine is so transphobic it's almost impossible to change the identification on your certificates. So those trans women have to stay in a fkn warzone cause they don't have the correct documentation, because the the government is transphobic, and therefore either have to stay there and die, or go stealth mode, which isn't easy when you've lived a lot of your life being yourself and you have to revert back to that. Aside from the debilitating dysphoria one might experience. In addition to that, these trans women have the chance to be brutally abused and murdered if they do chose to go to the borders and people realize they're trans. As for trans men, not only does their identification not match, which brings up all of the previous points I made, they are also expected to go to war and if they don't they're not "men enough". That logic is extremely flawed and I hope I don't have to explain why. Again, ofc people who experience war go through shit, I'm not saying they don't. All I'm saying is that trans people also go through hell and we shouldn't invalidate that. Cause honestly, are you REALLY using the argument "other people have it worse :(" like yeah, no shit. Everyone has different experiences, some people are luckier than others. But I bet that everyone has at least ONE thing that could get them to be a sobbing mess on the floor. Are you gonna tell someone who lost a family member or smth that they're not going through enough to express that grief? Are we not allowed to mourn the people who have gone through hell and back anymore? If your suffering is greater than mine, does that mean I just get to be happy? Or do we both need fkn therapy, and a support system, and everything a person who's going through the worst experience ever needs? At the end of the day it's not about who's got it worse, it's about helping EVERYONE as much as possible. If you've read all of this, thank you 💜/gen

Completely beside the point but I'm a librarian and here's how the Dewey Decimal System works! It's actually pretty easy: In a library, fiction is organized by author's names (and sometimes subdivided by genre, mystery often gets its own section, for example). But if we did that in nonfiction, then stuff about the same subject wouldn't be together. Which is annoying, especially since that's not how people think approach reading nonfiction books for the most part. When people read or look for nonfiction, it's less likely because you're interested in the author (with a few notable exceptions for someone who's really well-known, like Mary Roach or Malcolm Gladwell or something), and more because they're interested in the subject. The Dewey Decimal System exists because we needed a way to sort books by subject, and so a guy named John Dewey basically made a list of every subject and assigned it arbitrary numbers, with similar subjects being numerically close to each other. The number for WWI histories is followed by the number for histories of the Great Depression is followed by histories of WWII. Like all classifications it's not perfect (poetry and plays are in this under "nonfiction" even though they're technically fiction, biographies have their own section sorted by last name of subject and are in a completely different section of the library usually, there's some baked-in problematic attitudes/racism because this was thought up in the 1800's so of course there is) but it works well enough. You don't need to have any idea what number correlates with what - most librarians only know a few big sections, like cookbooks (641!), by heart. If you need a nonfiction book at a library and don't want to ask a librarian to help you (though we're happy to help! It's our job!) you can go to a computer with the catalog on it. Type in the specific title/author you want or a general subject keyword and you will be given a number. All nonfiction books are going to have two things on them, an at least three digit number and under that three letters that are the first three letters of the author's last name. Nonfiction is sorted in numerical order FIRST, so the order on a shelf would look something like: 123, 123.001, 123.082, 123.107. The three letters only become important if you're in a section where there are a lot of books under that number. 811, for example, is North American poetry, which is usually a pretty big section! That's sorted alphabetically within the call number, so Maya Angelou (811 ANG) would be followed by Margaret Atwood (811 ATW), who would be followed by Elizabeth Bishop (811 BIS). Hope this helps, and happy reading!

I've said this before on Jessie's videos, but I'm a cis woman who is prescribed a drug that, in trans kids, can also be used as a puberty blocker. For me it's medically induced menopause, and quite frankly? It has more risks in my adult body than it does in a child's, and has more benefits to trans children than it does to me - and I'm taking it as a life preserving measure. It's very safe, easily reversible (I know, turns out my body wants the 3 month implant every 2 months and I fell out of induced menopause so fast), and overall just not a big deal. Some of the fearmongering over puberty blockers so clearly comes from transphobes not understanding how these medications work, what other applications they have, and just how common they are in applications other than as a puberty blocker. Adult cis men and women use these drugs ALL THE TIME for hormone dependent cancers and illnesses, with few side effects. Trans kids have even less side effects.
My great niece was on them to give her a rest from her severe endometriosis whilst awaiting surgery to remove her ovaries & was fine got mild menopausal like symptoms but nothing on her endometriosis. Kids don't get those and they where developed to delay puberty in cases of precocious puberty so intended to treat kids specifically. Denying them to those that need them and spreading lies about them to scare off worried parents is wicked & to do so for personal or political gain outright evil in my opinion
@@AustinFan4Life you're mixing rare cases with decades-long effects of aging, side effects that exist in many medications, and overall minor things that are about your personal taste (changes in weight? oh yeah very life threatening.) and not a single hint as to how you got this info or that you even understand what a good deal of it means or how it works
@@AustinFan4Life Yes. Trans people can't get rid of the transphobic cancer. Nice to see you did research on mumsnet. Plus most of the ones above. Saying that they're possible side effects doesn't mean they will happen, just to be aware that it's possible. It's possible you'll stop being transphobic, but *sigh* that's a low probability occurance.
@@AustinFan4Life Not trying. And I know the Mumsnet creedo by now; every actively online trans person does. If you didn't do it specifically there, then you cut/pasted from someone who did. Where you got it is irrelevant to your misuse of it as a dire warning. But you're not ready to actually defend your wanting to harm trans children in the guise of protecting them.
I can sympathize with going all-in on Walsh, because he seems like a genuinely terrible human being. Like when you see the way he talks about his own children. He commits the double-sin of being both insufferably smug and impossibly stupid. He tries to make a sincere version of the "attack copter goes brrr!" attack on transgender people, while aggressively misunderstanding the difference between sex and gender and refusing to let people explain how one is biological and the other is a social construct that has changed significantly within his own lifetime.
When all they get back is gaslighting, sealioning and being ignored, why expect anyone to engage people like him- Or you? When you're approaching them in bad faith and assuming you're right, no one is obligated to put up with that.

By vests do you guys mean waistcoats? Edit im genuienly asking. In scotland vest means a tank top type thing you wear under your normal clothes. No one really wears them nowadays. Waistcoat means that grey sleevless top she has on in the video. I wear them alot. Its a great look

When Matt Walsh (or any right wing person) dares to make an argument based on "truth" vs. "untruth", I just can't. Can't. After they spout and embrace "alternate facts" and conspiracy theories constantly for years. Nope. They can't argue on the basis of caring about or defending the idea of "truth". So, I already know Matt Walsh is talking nonsense.
Just because someone agrees with some things within a political party doesn't mean they believe everything coming out of that party. Seeing the other side as all of them believing every little thing a random person who claims that side says is just not being grounded in reality.
@@ralphiesarch8980 And if the right wing didn't invariably all support each other in no matter what against any outside opinions and vote in lockstep for whomever is up for the election on their side, no matter what, then you would have a point.

He's mean, rude, ill mannered, cynical and bitter, and it's all on purpose. For some reason he thinks that's what makes him a good debater. It's pathetic and enraging.

I appreciate you going after modern Daily Wire type conservatives. Those channels from what I’ve gathered seem to have replaced the old-school frequently atheist and superficially sex-positive-ish (even incels are sex positive technically) anti-SJW channels that people like HBomberguy managed to ridicule so well with more straight laced religious conservatives as the top right wing voice on this platform seemingly in less than a decade. Not quite sure why that happened, although I have theories.

I recently read a historical novel, where one of the main character was left handed. Every teacher tried to conform him, and being left handed was seen as shameful, defiant, twisted and wrong ..and it's true, we used to see it that way. Now, 200 years later, being left handed isn't a "thing" anymore..we instinctively adapt when needed, they adapt when needed, and the few studies made about them are truly intresting, but not judgemental.. I hope one day, being gay and or trans will be seen as being left handed today is. But i hope it will not take us 200 years to get there....
@@Houseofpheromones0 Many trans people start feeling that their assigned at birth gender was wrong at a very young age. My brother did. He can't even remember thinking of himself as a girl, only a boy that people keep calling a girl for some reason. But he wanted to be a good kid and was led to believe that meant being a good girl. So he played the role of a girl and suffered disphoria for almost 20 years, before he came out last year. When he was aroud 5 he told us he was going to be a daddy when he grew up. We told him "No, you can't ever be a daddy, you're a little girl. You will become a big girl, then a woman and if you want a mommy." I regret this so much. In this occurence and many other, we made him feel like he had to keep pretending he was a girl. He never felt like he could be himself in his own home, with his own family. No child should have to go trough this. Trans kids exist, wether we aknowlege them or not, wether we inform them about transness or not. Refusing to inform them just lead to their suffering. Letting them know they don't have to keep pretending to be the wrong gender is not brainwashing.
I desperately want to give you the views you deserve but I can't watch this right now because transphobia. I'll say in advance, though, thank you for doing the dirty work so that we don't have to.
I'm 52 years old and I remember when homosexuality was decriminalised here in South Australia in the 1970s. My Dad was upset about it and totally confused. He thought my male teachers would start wearing dresses and was convinced that would be traumatising for me. Now it's trans people who will be the downfall of our community. Nothing much has changed really
That's the most unfortunate thing, that the people I see using those arguments are not realizing how it's literally the same arguments that once were used against the gay movement/community. With the even more unfortunate thing that there's now social media which makes things even worse...
Fear mongering things they don't understand and don't want to because they fear change, It's hard to change that in people, some people need logic, some loss, some simply are too stubborn.
Great video, as always. I honestly don't know why Matt Walsh and people who buy into his ridiculous notions think trans people want to "turn" kids trans. I'm a transgender man and I have 2 daughters. I'm not trying to force anything on them (except hygiene habits, because I don't care that you don't wanna IT'S BATH TIME). I just want them to know that they can be themselves and express themselves in whatever way is authentic to them. You'd think if any lefty-lib parent was going to want to "turn kids trans" it would be a transgender parent. Alas, but no.
It's also just not possible to "turn" kids trans, because gender identity is immutable. Either kids are already trans, or they are not trans. The only choice is whether to enable them to discover their identity, or force them to suppress it. I wish I had been able to discover my identity decades ago, instead of trying to convince myself that I wasn't really feeling what I was obviously feeling.
Not librairian or professor, but instead, another amazing form of Dr. Who, that of which I want to travel through time with while preventing unimaginable horrors.
I saw him on Samantha's video earlier and it fked me for that day and upcoming days , i was so frustrated and my anxiety was very severe. Samantha made such strong arguments against him , but the bs he spouted was highlighted in my brain and it was all i could focus on at that time. It took some days to settle in and i kept making counter arguments trying to defend my identity and it exhausted me a lot. but as time went by i kinda forgot about it and counter arguments started to make more sense and i could see clearly that he was spouting bs , even though i knew it all along. ( Earlier in my life , i used to think that stuff like this would make me crumble and quit but when it actually happened , i didnt think about stopping to live my life as i am , i was able to sustain my sense of self. ) This confidence is there in me because of Samantha , you and other awesome trans creators in the community. I feel so lucky to have all these people. I understand how exhausting it is to address a-holes like him , and also to come in good faith. I really appreciate you.
I can't wait to watch this and get angry!! My one wish is that people stop attacking/vilifying trans people; I think most trans-individuals/gender-expansive individuals just want to be able to exist and live our lives.
I don't think you're the "angry trans woman" steryotype but like even if you were, you shouldn't have to apologize for ir. Fitting a steryotype isn't a crime. But anyways let's get to the meat of the video. The Troll: the thing about making the other side look bad is interesting because that seems to be the argument that an abusive parent would do, like you tell them "You need to treat me with respect" and they answer "Oh so you want me to kiss the floor you walk on, it that what you're saying?" idk if that makes much sense but it's just the energry I get. Like I don't think I'm crazy for pointing out that the Venn Diagram of Conservative Rethoric and Abusive Parent tatcis is a circle. The Viral: I don't have a lot to say about this point except that the media is very choosy about who the choose to platform. Like recently I wrote an article about Damian Wayne's (The fifth of Batman's Robins) etnincity and how a lot of the hate directed towrds him might be raced-based and on the same day, Medium (the platform where I posted it) recommended me an article from a transphobic guy who was imposing their harfuls views on their audience. This also ties into the book segment. The book: Yikes! Holy shit. I'm having South Park flashbacks dolphin surgery. I wouldn't be surprised if he got it from there. Anyways but the point that you bring from the book not being from children but being from the parents it's interesting too because I think that fearmongering it's quite literally the point of transphobia. Like not to be literal with the word "phobia" but I think that fear it's the point of everything, they feel fear so we should also be afraid. The grift: I don't have thoughts on this, but I genuinely can't wait for your video on Cancel Culture (I have my whole opinion on the whole thing but that's neither here nor there) Thanks for making thie video Jessie, you always get me thinking about stuff. It's like excersise but for my brain.
These Christian RIghties would and do scream 'We're being oppressed for being Christians' if we flung Danish and donuts back in response to their bricks and baseball bats. And frankly, that's why they want to divide the rest of us queers against trans people. It's for the same show where they feel dominant if they can mess up the country and claim to be martyrs if they can't blow snot on children in a pandemic.
@ OllamhDrab Tell me about it. My city was trying to pass an ordinance that would ban conversion therapy on minors, particularly from unlicensed counselors. One of the wealthier local churches here made a whole movement out of it, saying this was about religious oppression… because apparently it is oppressive for them to not be able to tell people (and young folks) how to live their lives and who they can love and/or have sex with. The language in the ordinance did not condemn discussions about homosexuality and what the Bible has to say about it, but the church pastor claimed it was an attack on “free speech”. I wrote several letters to my the city council about my support for the ordinance to protect minors from this kind of religious counseling (which I also was subjected to as a minor), and they received a lot of letters from others expressing their support, including some people who have suffered under this church’s “counseling” program involuntarily. But unfortunately, this church pulled out a fucking lawsuit on the city, and then they backed down. Classic case of “Christian persecution” complex, except oh wait, yeah, they were able to throw their weight around until they got their way. So persecuted!
A point on the "trans is a mental illness" thing. I find that super dumb that some transphobic people think that's the "win argument" button. Like, let's pretend this argument is right. So what? If that was the case, then it would still be better to refer to trans people by their preferred pronouns and names because not doing so worsens trans people's mental health, and deliberately doing something you know will make someone's mental condition worse is widely considered a horrible thing to do. Also by this logic, trans people who want hrt and parents who allow their trans kids to take puberty blockers should be able to do so; after all, people with mental conditions still get to choose the treatments options that are right for them. No one is going to tell someone with depression "hey you can't take Prozac!" or "you have to do CBT because I think you should." I feel like the "trans people are mentally ill, and therefore I don't need to respect their needs" argument is the most "tell me you are ableist without telling me you are ableist" thing out there. It only makes sense if one implies someone being mentally ill inherently makes them so delusional that they can't understand their condition or their needs, and it is the place of "normal people" to decide that for them.
I took awhile to think about whether not I wanted to make this comment but for the sake of solidarity, I want to. I'm a cis woman. I grew up with stories from my mother and great grandmother, recounted the historical horrors that make me glad I'm alive to day, and gives me hope for the future, that things will continue to get better. But I want to say to any trans woman who end up being harassed by other women, congratulations, you are a woman. Progress is not gendered, and I was surprised to hear from my great grandmother and my mother that basic womans rights, such as voting, having an opinion other then your husbands, being allowed to not have a husband, faced critique from women and men alike. And while arguments could be made for why that is, it was more startling to hear women shouldnt vote or have a life outside their family basically, then from a man. People like TERFs have always existed, but now that it's generally accepted for women to be... individuals, ya know, only certain women of course according to them, this kind of thing has unfortunately always existed whenever rights for anyone comes up. Theres always gonna be people that you would think would understand the struggle, but don't want the change. Hell for a Cis vs Cis example, look at Girl Defined. As far as they're concerned the world would be better off without someone like me.... without someone like you I'm sure as well. And that's what gets me. I'm cis. I'm relatively lucky. When someone talks down to me or is straight up sexist I can know it's either coming from a place of polite ignorance that I can maybe address on the spot, or if not, I'll at least be backed by general opinion. Trans women in the USA are experiencing the same brutish outdated behavior that for me, in most circles, wouldnt be accepted. Outdated already in feeling and all too familiar. I often find people using language similar to what it was just a few generations ago for cis woman, unapologetically sexist and insulting.... and in some cases, dangerous. Threats, violence, the same ones women have faced for generations continues. It saddens me. It disgusts me. History indeed repeats itself but that comes with a glimmer of hope. It took a long time for woman to get where we are today. But it happened. Few still disagree though it feels like many, but time marches on. I just hope some day when I'm old and boring a bunch of 4th graders that I can tell them the horrors and shocking stories that *USED* to afflict people that seem unbelievable and gross to them, that maybe they will appreciate their time as much as I do mine, though it's hard to think things will get better, so much is wrong these days... but still I hope to witness progress celebrating quietly as people who harass, threaten, and dismiss those who are different due to circumstances beyond their control, slowly fade from echos. And that hope extends not only to trans women, but trans men, gays, lesbians, every member of the LGBTQ+ that some day, people will be shocked and appalled by your stories as well, and what you had to endure to get where you are like so many already have.
99% of all artists in history agreed with the idea men are men and women are women and it can’t be changed. I guess Picasso, Beethoven, Mozart, Van Gogh are all uncreative huh?

That Walrus book is soooo stupid. Babylon Bee level bullshit with all the insight and sophistication of a Internet troll spewing hate safely out of punching distance. The premise is basically a rip off of a sub par Kevin Smith horror comedy called 'Tusk'. At least Smith didn't make his film become a horrible allegory about transitioning like South Park at one of its many, many low points.
I know there isn't really any such thing as "bad art" because all art conveys a message no matter the skill applied but like. good lord the art in that Johnny the Walrus book is bad

Can I just mention how garbage Matt Walsh’s book is to read as children’s literature? I don’t see how any child who isn’t indoctrinated by anti-trans ideology by terrible adults would get that it’s an anti-trans book, to be completely honest. If you want a good example of a children’s book written by a well-known author (who is also connected to “Star Trek”!), read LaVar Burton‘s “The Rhino who Swallowed a Storm”. It’s a great read with beautiful illustrations and an easy message about not holding your emotions inside because it’s unhealthy. Speaking of emotion, as a black cis woman, I am acutely aware that I do get heated during racist and sexist discussions because often times they are completely in the wrong. Jessie, don’t apologize for getting upset when someone tries to invalidate your existence and experiences as a human being. I’ve already had too much of that as a black woman - I’m very light skinned, so I usually have to correct people once they say something racist, thinking that I’m white. Be sure to speak your truth to people who do not understand how difficult it is living in a world where you were not taught that you are “the norm”, you are OK about talking about your anger.
Matt Walsh is one of those conservative clowns that make my blood boil. I know that's what he wants, I know I shouldn't let him get to me that much, but I can't help it. He's just such a hateful ghoul who riles up his transphobic audience for a quick buck, not caring about anyone he hurts along the way. It's hard to to filter out the Kill Bill sirens that start blaring in my head whenever he starts talking, I don't know how you do it honestly. We stan a good faith librarian/professor
I had a coworker who consumed Matt Walsh's content and prided himself on spreading bigotry towards trans and queer people. He was also a disgusting misogynist who groomed all the young teenage coworkers there and sexually assaulted me and my friend. I told him that I was dating a trans woman and that my sister was trans but he didn't care and I clearly didn't want to hear it and he spouted bullshit anyway. He got kicked out of the workplace thankfully.
That one comment he made on Dr. Phil about how we can dig up a human skeleton and know it’s gender because of biology but not know what they were thinking is wrong. Of course the skeleton tells us much about the biology but the surroundings the dig site are also very important and tell us about culture. There were biologically female skeletons dug up but with the imprints of warrior outfits, which would typically be found on male remains.
Unfortunately people like Matt Walsh either don't bother to do research beyond their fascist radio shows or they simply leave those facts out to better suit their agenda
@@MrThebeast115 Yeah, I do understand that it's completely pointless to argue or discuss stuff like this with people like him, because for transphobes it's not about whether an imprint of something was discovered at a dig site. It's about the fundamental disagreement that trans people "aren't real". But I wrote this mostly so people who watch this video to know: your bones are not the only thing that remains of you. There will be stories, fond memories, memorabilia and even imprints of your gender identity and who you were left long after you're gone. So fuck Matt Walsh!
Not to mention the fact that in ancient Egypt, women would be buried with funerary inscriptions using the male pronouns, and their sarcophagi were altered to be more masculine. (Check out Kara Cooney's work on this) gender fluidity has existed since the ancient times.
You hear about Matt Walsh more if you ever run in evangelical circles (which I grew up in). He has rubbed me the wrong way since I was first exposed to him nearly 10 years ago, and he has only gotten worse as his platform has grown.
Matt is a disgusting piece of crap. I’ve tried arguing against people like him and yeah it’s exhausting because they lack so much self-awareness. Live long and prosper, and Godspeed Jessie.
Thank you for this video! I loved how Samantha Lux has covered it so far, but I realized after this one that I did need a longer format more in-depth analysis of Walsh's character.
Honestly this situation made me think about the time when I finally realized how horrible transphobia is. In early 2014, I had broken my left hip and when I went to the hospital, I conversed with one of the nurses that helped me. She talked to me about her trans daughter and showed me a picture of her. Sweetest little thing. But then told me that she was getting bullied in school. When talking about this, I could see she was almost about to cry but composed herself because she knew she had to help me out. From this point forward, it occurred to me that trans people are human beings and deserve to be treated as such and not othered. I mean if I did or said something that would contribute to the bullying of that nurse's trans daughter I couldn't live with myself.
People like Matt Walsh, Ben Shapiro, Candice Owens and all the grifters just remind me that you can make a lot of money if you can just get your pesky conscience to shut up so you can exploit other people's anxieties
It’s not a lack of conscious it’s just who it’s directed toward. The Daily Wire crew care more about cis people and children than they do about trans people. And you guys clearly care more about trans people since their opinions matter more.
50% of his arguments show a fundamental failure to understand sexuality and gender and thats all u need to know about whether or not his arguments deserve any respect
So, what is a woman? When you say you’re a woman what are you saying you are. For example, I say am left handed because I use my left hand, I say I am near sighted because I can only clearly see things right in front of me and I am short because the average American woman is at least 5’6” and I am not (under 5). When you say you are something it means something. What is a woman?
@@MrSophire I mean thats the whole debate and the answer is super complicated which is why it's easiest and most inclusive to j say anyone who identifies as a woman is a woman. If you think you're a woman then you're a woman and that's inclusive of all cis and trans people :)
@@dlg78 so when you're talking, you can call people whatever you like, but when someone else is talking they have to call you what YOU like? doesn't seem like the trans people are the hypocrites here.
No, no. I think I get it when he said that saying a person who is sitting is actually running, and that being an untruth. He's saying that it's the same thing as saying Matt Walsh is intelligent. See? It's an untruth!!
this guy is legit awful but i seriously can't get over how he's a whole year younger than me and yet looks and sounds like he's 55, with that just for men beard and his faded glory button ups and his "damn kids running in my driveway" grating, raspy ass voice
So it turns out (if you listen to Tuesday's episode of Behind the Bastards), Dewey was an exceptional creep (even for the early 20th century). Genuinely groundbreaking system though!
After watching this and Emma Thorne's video reacting to his video on an LGBTQ teacher coming out to their students... Yeah, this dude is scary and infuriating. What gets me is how strongly he believes in these views and how he comes across as thinking he's superior to everyone, presenting misinformation as either facts or " being witty and Sarcastic " (he's not) That mix is scary because you know that he wouldn't change his mind, and won't listen to other view points unless it supports his own. He'll just keep going with these harmful views without seeing the damage. Also that Children's book is fucked up.
I just saw Emma’s video a couple of days ago, myself. I hadn’t seen any of her videos before, and I wasn’t even aware of this one. I think YT recommended this channel because I watched that other MW video :)
Let's not forget that despite preaching individuals rights like the right for an assigned at birth male to be a trans wan and despite gay parents wanting to adopt he's Aldo for arranged marriages. He basically wants a pseudo christian version of Saudi Arabia's theocratic government
I feel like Matt only has 4 kids so he can just say he has 4 kids and have credibility when it comes to talking about children. The things he mentions about his kids is either creepy or disconnected from what an actual participating parent would say about their children. I wonder if he's the type to brag about his kids good grades or extracurricular activities while also not helping them with homework or missing an event so he can post more anti trans kids videos.
There was a Netflix "Documentary" about several chronic patients where these ill people were lured in under false pretenses and lied about named Afflicted. The RU-vidr "You look okay to me" made a video about it
It is technically true that if Matt calls a man a woman he is saying an untruth, but something tells me he doesn’t mean that in the literal sense 🤔 maybe it’s the bigotry wafting from the out of focus bookshelves
