From the Festival of the Bluegrass, June 7, 1996...
The Scene's penultimate number on this evening set-(they were later called back for an encore)-was the great classic from the Stanley Brothers, "How Mountain Girls Can Love." The Stanleys recorded this number in September, 1958, on King 615, a "must-have" LP for all bluegrass music fans. Carter and Ralph Stanley, with Bill Napier and Al "Towser Murphy" Elliott, had first publicly performed the song in a live show at New River Ranch just three weeks earlier.
