Even if you paid someone a ridiculous amount of money to build one just like it, no amount of money could ever buy the satisfaction you get from building it with your own hands.

I own a 99 F-350, and 4 years ago I swapped in a 3208 10.2 L turbo V-8 CAT and a 7 speed fuller trans. It gets a lot of looks from people and I had the hood open at the truck stop checking for leaks after the swap as I was fueling it up, and a guy in a 3500 RAM saw the engine and asked how I got a CAT in a Ford? I looked at him and replied "wrenches". He then wanted to know what I intended to pull with it and I said "anything I decide to". I told him I had no problem with the power stroke that it had in it, I just got a good deal on the CAT and Tranny and decided I'd put them together. I'm glad I did and my F-350 is my dream truck now. Remember "If it ain't a CAT, It's a dog".

I built my Cummins Bronco in 2009. I bought it for $700 as a rolling chassis no trans or engine, but NP205 t-case was included. Had brand new sky jacker 6" lift suspension too, I sold the detroit locker from it for $700(the locker made it handle weird on the road) so I basically got the truck for free. Then I found a 91 W250 with a Cummins for $1300. I pulled the motor out, and sold the rest of the truck for $1500. So I got the Cummins for free, plus I made $200 on that. I spent $1700 on a Dynamic Racing C6 for it, and $1500 for the cnc machined transmission adapter plate and race flexplate from destroked. After tires, and all the odds and ends, I ended up with a total investment of $5500 for the whole build. I maxed out the fuel pump and built a hybrid turbo for it, added a 7.3 intercooler too. It averages 22-27 mpg and is a lot quicker than it looks. lol

Hello wow I am so impressed at how much hard work you put into this truck. Your creativity was awesome the way you put together the truck how you updated the interior and all the well done customizations was awesome congrats. Your video popped up on my RU-vid feed so I watched it since I'm mostly a diagnostic and electrical auto mechanic, I mostly work on bmw's at our shop. I watched the whole video to the end and subscribed and now here I am typing a message. I drive a hand me down 05 Nissan Xterra but I have at home a 06 Ford F250 with the Power Stroke V8 6.0L when I got it was smoking constantly with hopes of Fixing it up nice, unfortunately after taking a lot of the engine tip end apart to get the injectors redone and replace the engine harness a bunch of life issues happened and basically my truck has sat broken down for about 3 years already and also I'm not a diesel mechanic so I kinda overwhelmed myself. I wish I knew a local truck shop, but I don't know of any. Respect From Margate, South Florida..

Thanks for giving such a detailed break down. It really gives a complete understanding of what a project like this really entails.

That’s so cool how the subscriber’s help with the build and that you actually value their opinion. Awesome

I don’t blame you a bit for staying with the 5 speed versus the 6. More gears is more problems in automatics. Especially with a diesel, you’re not running that much of an rpm range to where you need 7-8-10 speeds like the newer trucks. My 99 powerstroke with a 4 speed does anything I want it to do, all day long.

Very nice truck , you did a fantastic job. No substitutions from building it yourself, when there is a problem you know what it is and what must be done to fix it. It is long but on the road that will only make it ride better. Great job ! 👍

Really cool project ! I can see a lot of folks starting something like this and not finishing it for whatever reason money, time & talent. Thanks for sharing costs as well.

The 9th gen F-Series are my all time favorite Fords. Last year I detailed two trucks for a friend before being sold. An all original '93 IDI Turbo with 45k miles, still had the factory plastic wrap on all the seats and carpet except the front driver. The other truck was a '94 F250 with a 4BT / 5 Speed swap (originally a gasser with an auto), it had a 6" lift sitting on 37s.

I have a 2004 Thomas conversion with the 3126. I drove a lot last year, with one break down. Fixed a loose gear, but it also needed a new harmonic damper. So my experience matches up with the other suggestions to buy a new one.

Seeing this project get finished and watching this recap video has inspired me to take on my own project, but it is very daunting doing all the work and trying to learn as i go. Im loosing motivation cause i found some rot spots in my frame so Im at a standstill of what I want to do lol. The little wins i get when i take something apart succesfully does help alot for my motivation.

This and the Juice box are my 2 favorites on the channel. I love the f350 other than its a long bed. But its not my truck. I have an 09 f150 that i keep plugging away on and sometimes it gets daunting but when i see the f350 on here it gives me more than enough motivation to keep going.

Let's be honest, a well built 3126 Caterpillar engine, tuned to 330HP for around $12,000.00 is not bad, at all. The thing had to cart kids around with only 190HP, with a lot more weight and drag, and a gear missing in the transmission. Now, in comparison with a 1990's Frod F-350 4x4 pulling a trailer with a race car and some tools, a few people coupled with the 330HP tune and 860 Ib-Ft of torque, and all the gears in a beefed up transmission, that engine will last forever with your keeping it maintained. Was it a difficult, expensive swap? Yes. Did it come with a lot of great upgrades that were worth it? Yes. Can the engine reliably make more power/torque if you really wanted? Absolutely. I think this is the most awesome build you guys have done to date! The engine as it is built, as with the truck itself, it is all just a work of art, built to work. :)

If I lived back in Canada or the US (I'm in Japan) I'd buy an older truck that I like (Late 60's C10 thank you). I'd do a resto-mod, I'd do the work myself, and even if total it cost me $30K I'd still do it, I'd have a truck that would work well, I could service and would run for a very long time and look cool as could be. I'd not buy a new truck. Great build Rich.

I like your build very practical you make it reliable and always available to use! Price I thought was very reasonable though also being in Canada you have to add 35% but a new truck is $125,000 or more here. Impressed!

What you said at the end of the video matches my experience, too. I don't remember who, but I was told to divide big jobs into small ones, do one thing at a time, do it well, and move to the next small job. I guess that is big project 101! Thanks for the video! You managed to build a Ford I wouldn't mind owning!😄
