Excellent and certainly out of my league but doesn’t stop me loving and admiring them. I take my hat off to you Dan.

Thanks, I wouldn’t fancy running one with the original engine as much as we do our car.. you’d need to regularly rob a bank! 😂

Scary but enlightening. Realistically you need several hundred thousand pounds to buy and run one. It's even more of a credit to you that you keep yours out there for people to see

@@AutoplasMetro6R4V6 it's far rarer than a top end supercar or even a hyper car, yet similar running costs and more a car of the people than they could ever be. I love supercars, but someone gets out of a Group B car and the reaction isn't jealousy or assumptions about character.

Always my dream car since I was a kid watching Group B back in the day. The running maintenance price tag really did make my jaw drop. Perhaps cheaper to run a Veyron haha. Informative video and many thanks for doing it.

You have an original car, with traceable history so having a Jag engine in doesn't matter to me at all . The main fact is that she's one of the 200 ! Not a replica, Thanks for the video Dan 👍

If you didn't have the Jag engine I probably would not have met your car at Telford (hi!), and I doubt I'd have ever seen a 6R4 outside of a museum. Much better that there's at least one out there actually being used even if some imaginary originality points are being lost. Cheers!

its mad the cost of stuff today, they seemed 2 a penny even in clubman rallying back in the 90s and then in rallycross their seemed to be loads of them. But as you say there were only ever 200 made and i have probably seen 20 of them in my life i wonder where they are now? i know one thing if i heard one a couple of miles away id know what it was.
@AutoplasMetro6R4V6
@AutoplasMetro6R4V6 2 года назад
Yes once Group B was banned they were selling them off really cheap and they were used all over the place for a long time, loads of rallies had multiples of them on the entry list. A large number of them still exist, but most of them hide in garages now sadly. This distinctive sounds was what made them special I think, you know what they are before they arrive and that certainly stuck in my head from being a child until I got really lucky and ended up owning one.

Just for curiosity, what's the difference in power between the original engine and the Jag engine in your state of tune? Anyway, even though it is a shame you dont have an original engine, for running the car, I absolutely would go the same route as you did, even if it was a no cost object! We really dont want to blow such special and rare engines, better keep them preserved for very special occasions and shows.
@AutoplasMetro6R4V6
@AutoplasMetro6R4V6 2 года назад
The original engine was 250 bhp in Clubman form or they can be converted to upto a maximum of 410bhp in International specification, most ran at around 370/380bhp. We are running 360bhp with 450nm of torque so although we are down a bit on power we have quite a bit more torque, so we are as close as we can get really. The car was already converted to the Jag engine when we bought it, so it wasn't a conversion we did, however it certainly means it is more usable so we are making the most of it.

What rev limit are you running your engine to? On another note I've seen one with a Honda 4 cylinder engine, made sense to me to not run an original engine, even though they sound so great.
