When i saw the 22MB on the eastonmade channel I knew I saw something I really liked. What a beast! I just cut and stack for my own purposes but I'm starting to see the value of these pusher type splitters instead of the wedge type from Home Depot, Fleet Farm, or Menards, especially when it comes to the removable knifes. I think my next machine is going to be a Japa or similar, but a high end Japa like a 405 or something. Nothing production class like the 22MB, but enough to where I'm not touching the wood as much. That's my goal: handle the wood by hand as little as possible.

I am recovering from vaginal cancer. Found out it had spread to my lungs. You don't know how much your videos help me. You are so positive about it being a beautiful day. The birds singing and all. That you so much. I think the world of you. You are so kind to people and those wonderful barn wood cats. It's no wonder they follow you everywhere. You are so good to them. Any animal you see. Other than the wasp hornets that you crush!! Don't blame you there. You are a blessing to this ol lady!!

So the other year someone posted on Facebook that near downtown of San Antonio, several old pecan trees had been cut down from several houses next to each other. I took my long bed Duramax with my 5x8 trailer and made two runs on two days . It’s nice and dry now and I have decided to cut with w a chop saw to save on the diameter of the cuts . So besides that I will get paid to trim trees , I would also collect free mesquite, live oak , ash , pecan trees when the city has the collection. For me , I didn’t have to cut em down and I can haul off what I need so I can chop it up to sell . This year I finally have a 20’ landscaping trailer w 4K’ expanded metal walls so I’ll be able to haul more free firewood. Helps offset the price of diesel. Good job that ya have Señor. PROBST !

@InTheWoodyard
@InTheWoodyard 2 года назад
If you can get a load like that for $900 you better buy it all, the market rate for almost all wood is set by what the paper mills will pay and with fuel prices going up!!!!!, the going rate at all mills now is about $100-110 a pulp cord and that load was about 14 cords so $1400-$1500 is normal. $900 IS A STEAL!

Good morning Chris!!😀😀 Definitely a nice load of maple. I sure wish John would spend a little bit more time laying the pile straight. It's a little hard to grab the wood with the tractor grapple when it's crisscross like it is. Take care my friend!!😀😀 Logger Al

I'm in the Pacific Northwest, and kept hearing you refer to 'soft maple' and wondered what that is. Around here we have maple, and as a matter of fact, it's a preferable cord wood. But it's 'Big Leaf' maple. The other native species is 'vine' maple, but it doesn't grow to to a size to be harvestable for cord wood. Now I know what you were speaking of - 'Red' maple. Isn't native to the region. Big leaf and red alder are the preferred hardwood here. Softwoods are Douglas fir Western hemlock Spruce, Red Cedar, and at higher elevations, Alaska Yellow cedar, the latter two mainly split into kindling. We have cottonwood, but no one really wants to use it for cord wood. We also have White and Black birch, which I've burned, but it burns down pretty fast. Most folks, West of the Cascade divide prefer the alder and the maple. Even though I no longer cut and sell wood, I find your video's very informative as a consumer, rather than a producer. 😃

Red maple is soft and hard/sugar/rock maple is the better wood for most everything.

I ordered 40 pulp cords in December and still don’t have it. Hard to get firewood loads that’s reasonable. There getting 120+ a cord.

I could get as much wood as I want everyday here, lots of loggers, lots of woods and paper mills to supply here.

Very interesting , we have similar prices here in NZ pine delivered for me is $60 per ton 25 metric ton truckload , makes about 2 thrown cubes per ton so $30 cost sell for $70 per cube= $350 NZD + Delivery and GST $87.50 cube $437.5 for a cord (5 cubes +/- (5.09) ) $437.5*.6= $252.5 USD equivalent a cord but I only keep $228 delivered .

As I have said before, I get almost exclusively red oak here because it's plentiful and since I only supply myself (and my wood cutting habit), I can be picky. That said, when I do end up with something else, it always burns when I put it in the stove. As you often say, it's all wood and it all burns.
