Oh yes......to achieve getting the 90s Hasbro X-men.....let's say I've spent a pretty penny or two on some of them in my collection, others I had been VERY lucky to find them in the wild as have we all. I know I sound like a broken record but all I collect is Marvel Legends. I love all things Marvel.
“A lot” is the answer to this question. I’m glad I was able to collect as time went on and never had to spend over retail (besides 1 or 2), only ones I’m still needing is Bishop, sunfire, and shatterstar. They’ve made it prettt easy to complete a decent team with re releases and what not
You are DEAD on about the price ranges! I am SO happy I got all the ones I wanted over the decades! To all those starting their Jim Lee collection....good luck to you!
I like the X-MEN because their cool and the way they use their powers, All in all, I think we need an updated of a Jim Lee Beast because the Caliban wave Beast is awesome but he is so pricey, Bishop, Ice Man, Pylocke, Sabretooth which I cannot wait to see along with a re release Mystique with double jointed elbows, Thank you for the video David
I always saw that Jim Lee Storm outfit as silver. I already bought it in both white and black, but I'll buy it a third time if they make her in the proper silver outfit. But yeah, most of the '90s X-Men are gonna cost you at least double retail now, at best. Glad I got most of the characters I wanted years ago. But there are a still a bunch of older characters that I'm not willing to spend the money on, like the Blob.
i’ve been watching figure channels and such for YEARS, but i’ve only just recently started collecting Legends. Really glad i stumbled across this channel. One of my favorites for sure!
I bought the Apocalypse wave Psylocke when it came out. Two years later the right foot broke and I thought replacing it wouldn't be that bad, I was wrong!
The reason why I started collecting Legends was when they started going all out with X-Men right at the Juggernaut BAF and it's been snowballing since.
I'm almost there with my 90s X-Men collection. Really just need the Jim Lee Psylocke. I've got the Nimrod 3-pack version as a stand in right now. And I need some Multiple-Men to finish my X-Factor team. Trying to hold on to that patience though lol!
This is a terrific format for a video. I'm a big fan of building teams. So happy to hear that this is a good time to jump in, because I had stopped collecting Marvel Legends for the last few years. I missed out on big ones like Psylocke and Beast. Yesterday I pre-ordered the cartoon Wolverine and Jubilee. I'll be grabbing that new Sabretooth too. It's so frustrating that both the love triangle three pack and the Cyclops & Dark Phoenix TRU pack are so damn expensive.
Sorry I wrote that first comment 3 o'clock at night rocking my baby girl. This was a great video. I started my collection a week ago with .......... Frogman lol. I love it and because of that one awesome figure has started a craving lol I just got in my dark beast and wild child, love them both. I'm working on my display now while I'm waiting for my white knight joker and king shark. Love the video. Great haircut by the way
I started recently to build my my own x-men display i found in local stores in my country a few basic x-men members for descent price - colossus 2pack for 67 euro, rogue 2 pack 40 euro, professor x for 44 euro, nightcrawler+jubilee+retro gambit for 25 each. No bad start for me without to break my bank acount.
The Legends aftermarket really punishes you for not collecting as the figures originally released. It’s a shame. I know Dwight wants to maintain the prestige of the line and never do a straight reissue of anything, but maybe they really should.
I am lucky enough to have all of these figures and few that weren't included on the list. I can't wait for them to put out Banshee, so I can have the complete X-Men team. I want all those late 80s thru early 00s characters Skids, Rusty, Marrow, Wraith, Omerta, Bedlam, Perta, Sway etc along with the Generation X gang. I would also love if they did a main line version of Iceman's human form in the 90s costume along with natural wings Angel. Sad well never get X-23's fellow Young -Men classmates.
For some reason I don’t care about the specific eras I just look for characters. I have brown Wolverine, X-factor Cyclops, AoA Rogue and AoA Iceman, and unfortunately the HoX Marvel Grey.
You forgot Bishop from the Sauron BAF wave!!! Also Psylocke was featured in a few episodes where Apocalypse was trying to capture all the most powerful telekinetic/telepathic mutants in the world.
I found some of these on clearance. I'd say if you want to build a collection, it's too late. Cyclops was 45$ for me, so was jean. Kitty pride and Phoenix were 45. Beast was hard to find in the wild. I found multiple man for 5$ and I've seen how much he goes for now. The select beast is good, but if you're going to do this, spring for the Hasbro beast. Storm needs to be in white. That's what she wore in xmen 1.
I've been very good at getting figures as soon as they are released. Missed that 1st modern Hasbro Cyclops, but the others I got at retail or made myself. Made a custom for Scott, and that lasted for years. The 3pk comes out; I kitbashed some spare arms from my custom onto the figure with the jacket, and Voila! I do not scalp, so I only go for what I need. I also make customs, so I've pretty much had the complete Jim Lee team for...seven years. Both X-Men teams - Gold and Blue. Got X-Force completed, too. Not salivating for Feral, Siryn etc. I made those a couple of years back. Made my own Banshee, Longshot, Polaris etc. There are ways to have these teams, if you're willing to have some fun searching for bucks, fooder, and customizing.
You put this video out right as I'm getting back into Marvel Legends after 15 or so years away... and just so happen to also be trying to assemble an X-Men team. I have a decent collection of early ML X-Men, so I can keep a few of those in the line up until I can wrangle up some newer versions, but this video is a good jump start for my search. Cheers!
I find it weird that in the Philippines, nightcrawler is pretty much a pegwarmer going about 21usd. Gambit and Rogue in retro card go for abt 30usd to 70usd respectively. But hey, great vid dave!
Man, I'm so glad I have been Collecting since the beginning! I go all the way back to the Toy Biz beginning! I'm currently sitting at 56 X-Men in 4 different Teams, and a small Mansion Defense Team. Now, I divide my Teams based on their original concept rather than the Comics. X-Men are the main team, X-Factor is the Public Face, X-Force is the Lethal Strike Team, New Mutants are actually more like a '21 Jump Street' type, to seek out and protect emerging Mutants.
Update; I have moved 3 Figures to the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants; Darwin, Kid Omega, and Chamber so my X-Men is now 53+1 in 4 different Teams and a small Mansion staff. X-Men: Cyclops Storm Jean Grey Iceman Sunfire Banshee Jubilee Gambit Rogue Boom Boom Thunderbird Colossus Multiple Man (6 of them) X-Factor: Havoc Polaris Angel Forge Strong Guy Emma Frost Beast Monet Dazzler Longshot X-Force: Cable Wolverine X-23 Warpath Domino Psylocke Shatterstar Feral Bishop Questar (custom) Shadowcat Nightcrawler New Mutants: Cannonball Sunspot Victor Dani Moonstar Karma Wolfsbane Magma Siryn Magik Cuckoo 1 Cuckoo 2 Cuckoo 3 Hope Summers Mansion staff: Prof. Xavier Moira Mctaggaret Rachel Summers Green Phoenix Arch Angel Revancep So a little bit of Fudging, making up the Teams the way I would rather than the Comics versions. I put all the killers, or those who will, in X-Force, the more Popular and Photogenic Mutants in X-Factor, etc.
As far as alternative options for Nightcrawler go, you could do worse than the Toy Biz figure. Yeah it's old and the articulation is a bit janky but it's not too expensive and it looks good.
Yeah I feel off the band wagon there for a minute. So when I came back back I’ve had to pay to play! But I finished my Jim lee collection. Half was at retail as they came out and the other …… well…. Damn scalpers!! But I want what I want!! Thanks for no accidental inflation!! 😂
Great run down of the Jim Lee and animated versions of the X-men. Both of those versions are MY versions, I'm also so lucky and grateful to have pretty much every figure that you've mentioned, including the bad guys. I'm just waiting on my Prof X from Amazon, got a good deal on him. And funny you mentioned the Marvel Select Colossus, I was using him on my classic Xmen shelf for a long time and he scales perfect, but I found a loose 2pack Colossus at a toy shop in Las Vegas with an amazing price, so I snatched him up. Funny story about the love triangle 3pack, I got the Rogue/Pyro 2pack from Hasbro Pulse and the Rogue figure had damage/messed up paint and when I contacted customer service they said they couldn't send a replacement because they were sold out, so they were going to send me a "comparable item" and they freakin sent me the love triangle 3pack! I couldn't believe it
Nice video! Crazy how pricey some of those have gotten. Luckily I grabbed all of the MLs shown when they were released. I even go back to when I first started collecting ML, with the aim to stick to that era of X-Men only, with Beast from the 4th wave and Colossus and Sabretooth from the 5th. Now, here I am 400-something figures later, with a Sentinel, and a Galactus forthcoming. So, I had a full Blue/Gold lineup prior to the more recent do-overs. You did leave out Bishop, if you wanted to fully cover those, beyond the others you didn't get to from the larger X-Men world. His most recent one was in a Deadpool wave. Oh, also, Cyclops was in the Warlock wave, not Apocalypse. I was happy with the Jean we got in the Rocket Raccoon wave, especially since she was long overdue in the JL outfit, but when they topped it with Love Triangle, I had to grab that, too, as well as for the ponytailed look from the 90's cartoon. One more thing, when you're in a video, don't have to actually say "chef's kiss", when we can see and hear you doing it. ;-P
I have the Marvel Select Psylocke crouched down in my Legends display to fudge the size difference. That’s the cheapest way to get a Psylocke right now.
So basically i need to be rich. LOL ive been trying to build my Jim lee xmen group since 2020 and im still missing a few. But we need patience, Thanks for the video my man.
This helped me alot because I have started to collect the x men figures but I can't get a great wolverine i didn't know to get the love triangle or wait for the new one coming out soon so thanks Dave keep up with the great content.
I had to pay a good bit for the old Cyclops and got it with two left arms. Quality control was evidently crap back then. Good thing I can sculpt and paint.
I’m going all the way in on the new animated series line. Love the packaging and I hope to see some Morlocks baby! Of course we got Wolvie and then Jubilee, but then Mr. Sinister comes in and makes me think we are going to get a lot of different characters.
I am so excited for this line of the animated series of the X-Men I hope we get some of the villains as well I so badly hope they do one of sabertooth we need a good Sabertooth figure apocalypse Omega Red you name it
I have the Gold and Blue team, I was able to get everyone except the Warlock wave Cyclops, Now I'm working on a Pryde of the X-MEN team but the cyclops needed is going for crazy prices on the aftermarket.
For me it has to be ToyBiz: Storm (white) Colossus, Bishop, beast, gambit, JimLee Cyclops, and the classic iceman (he got rereleased recently so you can go with hasbro)
I believe spent close to $600+ for the X-Men alone, mostly from Amazon. I need Toad and hopefully we'll get a Avalanche and rereleased Blob figure for the rest of the Brotherhood.
@@DisplayingModelBehaviour they sure do!!! Ppl like you inspired me to start my own. I probably won't get all of the Hasbro/Marvel legend figures just the characters I like.
My predictions of the animated line (I think they said there will be 10): 1. Wolverine 2. Jubilee 3. Mr. Sinister 4. Beast 5. Cyclops 6. Jean Grey 7. Apocalypse (deluxe) 8. Storm 9. Magneto 10. Morph (finally) I think Gambit and Rogue have been re-released too recently, so the above list would give us the rest of the core team and the main villains.
I just came back from picking up a Psylocke from a local toy shop near me (that I didn't even know existed) at the unbelievable price of 15 bucks, I really stepped on that pedal on my way there
I am stuck rn on my collection! started last November so very new. I can't get the unicorn lol Beast (Caliban) and I haven't got it in me to do the gray beast. Archangel is also really expensive rn so those two are the last remaining I need for my x-men team. I have got some really lucky hits though I somehow picked up nightcrawler (loose) but complete for 19 dollars on Whatnot and found juggernaut (select) for twenty at a flea market. and other than cyclops (3 pack) for 36 dollars and apocalypse baf sabertooth for 39$ I have basically hit retail or below. the hunt is half the fun for me but the beast is killing me haha. gr8 video
I recently got Gambit and Rogue for Christmas from my parents and they are AWESOME. I really wish Psylocke and Beast were a little bit cheap, because i really want to complete my X-Men. For the moment, i have Nightcrawler, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Wolverine, Iceman and Storm. Hopefully, Hasbro re-release more characters
yeah beast is tough... i had to paint the grey beast to blue but hey i kind of like how it came out better than the actual release..i have a short up on my page about it
GameStop has been good for getting figures on sale, especially that storm figure that he showed here. It may not even be there anymore but it was up there and they had it on sale. They have beast the last I looked and there’s others up there too that are non X-men related.
im a bit lucky. i somehow saw the apocalypse wave via an online store and made a pre order. i wasnt collecting MLs back then. then, i started collecting mid 2020's and got most of these at SRP. got some of them at SRP via restocks too like caliban wave and retro rogue which sold out immediately during first release.
Lucky me! I started with the XMen with the Warlock wave... When came out Cyke, Rogue, Phoenix & Shatterstar! I have to admit that i feared that hasbro never released the other characters... Well... Here we are after 100+ figures based on the 80's/90's X-Men. Its a little difficilt to get every figure released in my country (México) but... It's part of the fun!!
