Demand for top talent software engineers continues to grow and lots of new software engineers hope to land a life changing job at one of the FAANG companies.
Some of these software engineering salaries are ridiculously high and just because you don't work for one of these companies does not mean you are not a good engineer. Competition is fierce especially as you climb the individual contributor ladder.
Also, keep in mind that software engineer compensation varies depending on where you live.

You should make a video about how people can stay active as a web developer because sitting long hours everyday for years can cause many health concerns.

That's a good idea. It is one of the reasons I picked up mountain biking again. Trying to undo some effects of a sedentary lifestyle before things become really bad. Seen that happen to too many folks.

Hey man! You made me take Front end more seriously and I want to say thank you! I do have a question. What do you recommend I should do first. Currently I'm making (HTML,CSS,JS) "projects" I'm just making making duplicate websites (I made a BestBuy website and a Verizon website as well) What should I do to get the skills I need? What path should I take? Have you made a video of the "steps" you should take?

If seeling your soul is something you like then go ahead and work for a huge FAANGalike company. Most people dont need that much money to live a priviledged life without worries. I think developing awesome software in a company or business you think is good for humanity will only benefit you and your conscience !

@@TsoiIzAlive A myth lol. But please keep thinking that the high paying jobs come at the price of your soul. We faangers like that stigma so it’s less crowded at the top. Your bosses like it too since they they can pay themselves with the extra money and pay you with good feelings. Even if it was a lot harder, I’d make up for the work/life balance out on the boat I’d buy with the spare cash 😂 But as it is now I get a boat and a sweet company too

How do the Stock Options work? Do you need to stay employed for a certain amount of years before you can sell them?

There a differences across companies but often you are given a stock grant with a certain number of shares. You don't completely own them until the stocks vest. Some places they might vest over a number of years. You might receive 25% of the stock each year for 4 years. Other companies have monthly vesting or quarterly vesting with smaller chunks of stocks vesting more regularly. Once vested, you own those particular stocks and can hold them or sell them. When you sell can have different tax implications. Usually when you leave a company, you lose any unvested stock.
