Thanks for another great video. I'm loving my '09 XK I bought 8 months ago. No major expenses so far - only oil/filter change, air filter, brake bleed, etc. just to make sure everything was current when I bought it. I did spend "discretionary" money with a brake upgrade and XKR muffler (thanks for your series on swapping mufflers - it was a big help.) Fantastic cars. Should have bought one years ago.

Excellent. These are superb cars. I bought my 2009 XK 5.0 10 months ago and it has cost me very little so far but is just the loveliest car to drive, own, and look at.

Smart buy on that XK and probably worth much more now. Here in the states a similar 2007 XK with 80k on the clock sell for $13,000 to $18,000. And as you have taught us, paperwork and history are the key to a good one. I paid much more for mine seven years ago with 31k miles, but recently saw the exact same car sell at a MECUM auction for what I paid seven years ago! No more depreciation and nice ones are appreciating. Learning so much from your videos Paul! 🙏

Nice one Paul, I treat everything I spend on my XKR as an investment, they will keep their value, there will always be a market for them. Hope you don't get bored and sell it... it's a keeper mate.. hold on to it! 😉

Very important to change the gearbox oil and filter on these Jags every 60 - 80k miles. About £500 for parts and probably a specialist job.

Hi Paul. Started working on the rear end today both rear drop links ans stabiliser arms had all bushes blown!!. Fitting the new ones in the morning. Taking the shocks off for a clean up also. I also got new poly bushes for the upper wishbone. Got really good prices at British parts website. Checked everything else all is OK. Still looking forward to dropping the subframe and redoing it all in the new year.

Good clip, i think you did well, in as much that.the car was basically an ok car. Plus you are a proficient motor engineer (IMO). You have a fine car there.

I bought a 2005 XKR in 2012 and it seems to have every available extra fitted to the car when new. It almost drives itself. Regular oil services every 10K are essential. The biggest cost is the government road tax which is now 60 pounds per month (I really dont know how the government justify, that as the cars are economic and clean running). After 10 years, I am still happy with the car, but have decided NOW, to SORN the car to do a full restoration of the small wear and tear, roof lining etc. So mine is now sitting out the winter while I drive another car. It has taken me all over Europe and covered 90K miles in my ownership. They really are great cars, but now, in retirement my annual mileage is small and the road tax needs thinking about.
@life_on_cars

Completely agree. The road tax is daylight robbery 😢. Mine is also SORN this winter while doing some winter jobs. Thanks for watching

Seems like yall get wonderful cars but here I am scared of getting a 2007 with 72K miles for $17K because of something major failing... is an XKR though and I want it so bad but man, my pockets aren't goo deep to take such risks. I'm waiting on the other to show me the service and maintenance history

Just had my diff oil changed this week 2011 XKR 75000 miles. It was black. As you said preventative work is wise to do as i had no evidence of it being changed. So you prompted me in doing it so i was glad it has been done. So thank you for that. \otherwise all good.

Had my xkr 2007 eleven years now (daily drive). I've put two sets of tyres on it. Had it serviced every twelves months. The only thing I've had go wrong is one failed earth wire. Easy fix

Bought my 2006 XK Convertibel with 122000km for 15.000€ in 2020. In Germany its a rare car. The parts in Germany are more expensive. I also repair a lot of by myself. Its very difficult to find a good Jaguar Service here in Southern Germany.

The parts here in Spain are much more expensive. It’s not worth trying to get parts sent from the UK since leaving the EU. It’s just too much hassle. Nice job. Thanks.

I have an 07 X150 XKR Portfolio, and I had it into my local Jaguar service centre the other day to get the rear diff seal replaced. I gave in to taking it to them after finding in the workshop manual that there are several specialist Jaguar tools required for the job, so figured they'd be best to just do it, rather than me ultimately having more superfluous stuff lying around after using it for one job. However, long story short: they can't replace it because they can't get the seal for the XKR, only the XK! They said that if they take the old seal out, only to find that the XK one docent fit, I'd have to have the car towed away because they wouldn't re-fit the old one! I couldn't believe it! Talk about useless! Why they discontinue parts for older cars is beyond me, because not everyone falls for so-called planned obsolescence or perceived obsolescence. I've heard that there is a specialist Jag discontinued parts place in England, but I'm yet to research it. Do you know of them, and if so, have you dealt with them? Great work, and thank you for contributing to the community. I'm just about to SORN mine for the winter months, I had one last jaunt in it today, and I have a lump in my throat now. Until spring, then! Cheers!

I think it's a good possibility it's the same part ..they should order one and measure it before taking yours out

@@life_on_cars They had it there, but in the packet. They didn't want to open it and do any of that without me agreeing to paying for it if it didn't work, and possibly having to tow my car. I just had no trust in them whatsoever to work on my car so just walked away.... I've got until the spring to work something out.
