I think you got a great deal. I paid msrp for my Tacoma $42k back in June. Most dealers were asking $3 to $5 thousand over in my area. Just be willing to drive to dealers that don't mark up their vehicles. I drove 90 minutes to save $5k.
It’s always appreciated when someone is transparent. I paid for my 2024 limited 4x4 with the TRD package 61k. They got me with the bead spray and it came with trd running boards. I’m not sure it I overpaid a extra bit but I’m really happy of owning this model. I just sold my 04 SR5 with 100k for $15k.
Cool to see you got your truck. I had to wait 8 months for mine. I got the bed mat for my 6.5ft bed, love the mat and it keeps things in place. I got MSRP for my truck at 74k, but we traded in my Sequoia 2018 for it, the total down was 20k too. I love my truck and I think the Platinum is the best trim of all. The interior and exterior are amazing. Love the aggressive grill on the front. I like the color of your truck, that would have been my 2nd choice, but took the blueprint instead :)
Love all the content and everything you are doing. Truly appreciate all the exact figures and how straightforward you are. Well done. It really helps me out. Thank you!!
Not an idiot at all. That’s a solid explanation. Not only do I agree with it but did the same thing you did! Platinums the way to go. Still in my ‘18 and loving it! TRD exhaust, lift with 35s. Looks and drives great. Growls like a bear and drives like butter.
You talk about the cons (not just pros and all the features) of Toyos based on actual experience from owning and driving them, and that's what draw me to consider Toyota Tundra and Sequoia for my next vehicle. So keep doing a great job.
Great analysis. We have also been heavily invested in real estate for 40+ years. I just picked up a 2024 Platinum I-Force Max hybrid for $68k as a new 'work truck'. (I tow very heavy equipment). But we also have a 24 Limited at our winter home in Scottsdale AZ. I have also had the pleasure of owning the 2014 & 2021 5.7 12mpg avg beasts as well, & never had a mechanical problem. However, my 2013 Ram 1500 Laramie/Longhorn has 170k (15mpg) & the rear end needs rebuilding as well as the manifolds. I'll get it repaired & keep it for the real estate rehab jobs we are still doing a lot of. I sold 3 properties so could pay cash for the Platinum, (as well as the wife's new 24 Telluride), but I also Sect. 179 all my trucks, so that helps. The Toyota financing offered to me was 4.9%. The Platinum gets 18mpg around town, but is an absolute pleasure to drive. keep the videos coming...
Pay no attention to the a holes in the comment section Jon. The people who watch you every day know and appreciate why you do what you do. I watch you and untamed, and both of you guys have given me so many ideas on what I want to do on my cars. Keep going!
Damn those (mandatory) Southwest Toyota port added options! Up here in NJ we don't have to deal with port charges. I split time between NJ and FL - typically I will buy my Toyota's in NJ and drive or shipping them to FL. Your full transparency is very much appreciated. BTW - $20k down on a ~$70k truck is solid and logical.
I don't know about the rest of the country, but Tundras are still in short supply in the PNW. I purchased a similar 2023 Platinum last December and paid MSRP. My local dealer was out 5 to 8 months and I didn't want to wait so I checked with other dealers in the area and ended up waiting about 2 months before I got the truck. One big reason the dealer moved me up in his Tundra buying list was that I was willing to trade in my old Ridgeline. They gave me a fair price considering it needed a new windshield, new tires, and had hail damage. I paid cash so financing wasn't and issue.
Just got my red Limited about 3 weeks ago in central Ks. I put 40k cash down and traded in 2010 acc. cab Tacoma with 68 k miles. I financed 12k for 3 years at 4 p and I paid sticker. My local dealer didn’t have any in stock but they traded for one that I had to wait 2 months and I got color I wanted.
Platinum is the way to go. Took 5 months for mine to come in. Put the 3 inch factory lift on it, which really makes that wow factor stance on the new tundra.
I just took delivery of a 2023 Tundra Platinum after ordering it in September. I ordered it with Tow Mirrors and it showed up without the tow mirrors. They told me that they are not offered on my model. I saw your video and was like WTH. I do believe that it was more of a supply issue. No big deal but disappointing. After 300 miles my driver's seat back had developed a loud creaking sound and I do mean loud! I took it back to the dealership and they replaced the upper seat back frame and lumbar support. It was and 8 hr job but they did offer a free rental car. The repair did the trick.
Trucks are crazy expensive…..2500 below Mrsp is a decent deal in today’s market. I’ll take my chances and wait until June too see where the market is at before buying.
In the good old days, truck is what you would buy as a tool if you're a poor construction worker........ $25,00 to $40,000 top price...... then truck started to get fancy and luxurious with the Lincold Blackwood (fancy version of Ford F-150), and Cadillac Escalade EXT (fancy version of Chevy Silverado).... then Ford, Chevy, Dodge all got on the luxury wagon..... now the price for most trucks can be more than what you would pay for a Mercedes, BMW, or Lexus.... ridiculous..... it's funny how so many men buy a truck to amplify their low level if masculinity and virility..... truck is a tool....not a symbol of manhood....
Nice truck and good price. Don’t forget to get your 1/4” aluminum plate to protect your 4 catalytic converters from being stolen. I know some Tundra owners that had this happen. I didn’t drive off dealership lot till I had mine installed. Love what you do and your enthusiasm 😊
As someone that had the converters stolen off of my 2020 Sequoia I absolutely urge all owners, no matter of brand, to install cat shields. It took over 5 months and $6k to get mine replaced so it is a big deal if you get them stolen. I now have shields on my Sequoia and also my new Tundra.
@@TRDJon nah, there's no way it would have before because people had stimmy checks and low interest rates. Now there are high interest rates and no money and the economy is tanking. I know four different finance managers for Toyota Jeep, Chevy and VW and all of them are seeing steep declines in sales prices will definitely be dropping
Yes but so will trade values and most do have to sell one to get another.... If strictly a purchase than wait....Toyota doesn't typically sell for huge incentives like American trucks Just follow the inventory, that dictates the market, any market
Jon you are not an idiot. great job and content. Who cares what the trolls say. Awesome truck and get what you want and are happy with. What works for you might not work for me and vice versa. Stay positive and have fun. 🤓
Glad you are excited. Glad you don't care what others think about your decisions. It's not their money. I leased my 2022 limited cause I wanted the low payment and I knew I wasn't going to keep this first new model year forever. Now with the current market i have no choice but to wait for a 2024 or when I hit 36k. I'm at 21k now after one year. I anxious to see what the trailhunter is about. I'm also going back and forth with going hybrid. I do like the storage under the seat but again I'm all about the extra horse power. I'm not sure which one is smoother. I do wish you could get a better instrument cluster. Anyways nice truck, glad you're happy and I'll take your trd pro you ordered. Haha
I bought my sr5 2022 tss tundra for 53k seemed like a lot to me but they wanted 63 initially its not even 4x4 lol but i got a good interest and negotiated well thanks for sharing bro keep up the hustle
Lol, financial warriors... Everything you said in the video was enjoyable to listen to. Thanks for the details! This tundra is how I'd build, and add aftermarket upgrades down the line. But dang, $67k 😮💨
Anything under msrp new is a good deal. Managed to pick up a sport premium 4x4 with under 8K on the odo for under $55k cash. Taking it in for 15K service tomorrow at FWB toy.
They got me on my 2023 Tacoma with the $228 cable package with 2 usb ports and 4 cables and the ToyoGuard Platinum as well. Not needed but I can see how it might be useful one day. I wish I could get rid of it to save about $1,000 but the truck was already built.
I love it brother keep the 🔥 builds coming 🙏🏽 I have a 23 limited hybrid that I love and I’m gonna drive till the wheels fall off lol and I don’t even have the pvm but I love it 🤟🏽 it was a good buy brother 🔥🔥
Bought a new 22 Chev 2500 crew cab RWD LT trim last year for $50,000. 2.9% on loan. 6.6 gas engine (15.3-17.2 mpg) with over 3000 lbs of payload. I paid less for it than most 1/2 ton trucks!!
Jon, just purchased the same exact truck. Picked up 12/23/22. Curious what your gas milage is going to be. Currently, I average a little over 12.5. Not great. Let me know how yours ends up. However, I do love the truck
@@TRDJon Installed a Retrax cover and Yakima racks. I do have a bit of weight (maybe 600LBS) in the bed for tools, but I can't imagine that it would reduce MPG by that much. What are your thoughts on that?
I just got my 2024 Tundra Platinum the sticker said 70k. I traded my absolute baby of a truck my 21 Silverado trail boss. Ugh I miss it like I broke up with it haha 😂 but I got the 2024 platinum for 63000. I think it was a damn good deal
I love the truck. Missing the TRD off road is a bummer, but I guess you can't get it all. Only negative IMO is the color. My SR5 is Lunar Rock and I truly am partial to it. But seriously, it is an awesome truck congrats.
Great buy in my eyes. If you got the cash, and it's for your business--and having it might increase your RU-vid views meaning more money--it's a great buy.
Last month I just bought a 23 black platinum for at MSRP $69k but it has a couple of extra goodies on it that yours. Most dealers in my area were asking $10k over MSRP so I drove about 30 miles / 30 minutes away to a dealership that was willing to sell at MSRP. $10k savings for driving 30 miles was well worth it to me. I decided to lease tho until interest rates come down then I'll refinance into a loan.
Haters will always be there. If they didn't exist the world wouldn't have us positive peeps! When your ready to let it go I want 1st dibs at the truck Jon. I'm in Cottondale and would love to give it a Haters Wrap job!
I bought a 21 tundra limited v8 for 56000,…….I am glad you are happy, I bought mine for towing…I think the sun roof is great on your truck…I love my rear window that rolls down on my truck. I love the turning radius is much better on the 21. I think the window visibility is much better on the 21 Your mileage is better in your truck. What I really think people want is a small v8 5 .0 or 5.3 with a 10 speed in a aluminum body on steel frame 3.73 rear end Toyota built a 6 turbo with questionable reliability Time will tell who is right
Several years ago I actually had a Silverado with an extended cab with the 8ft bed so probably about the same size. I found it very easy to handle but of course you have to find a parking spot big enough for them. City parking sometimes is non existent for a vehicle that large.
😂 bro you crack me up. Haters gonna hate. You’re living the dream. Forget those financial haters. They’re just sour because they are not hustling like you are. I’m in real estate too (somewhat) and plan to buy another property soon to pay for my 4Runner. It is the way 😂
Yep, home and 3 rentals all paid off in the SF Bay Area. Bought my wife a 2024 NX350H in April in cash, not gonna deal with 5+% interest. If I cannot afford a car, a watch or whatever toy triple the price in cash, I can’t afford it.
Just bought a 23 high country 2500HD.....around same MSRP as that truck...got pretty good discount and GM promo rate of 3.9 ( only way i would have purchased it)...i took short term loan to get that rate which is fine....get it over with and pay less Its what you pay overall that counts not the selling price..... Sold 22 silverado 1500 that i had 5% on so Am happy i made this deal in this day and age.....short beds just dont work doubt rates will drop for awhile but would jump on a 2% from my CUs if they do
Until 2015, all of my Toyota purchases were 0% financing. I was shocked when Toyota Financial didn't incentivize the 2015 Tundra TRD Pro and gave me 5.25%, due to the truck being a "specialty vehicle". Gone are the days...
Just purchased the same 2023 Platinum but with the Air Bag system, my MSRP was about the same as yours. I was able to get a nice $3600 discount which I thought was generous considering there was only one other Tundra on the lot.
Paying for a spray-in bedliner is a total waste of consumer’s money. Being that it has a composite bed, put in a bed mat for under a hundred bucks and you are good to go!
I bought my 2023 Tundra SR5 with premium packages 2 weeks for 900 under MSRP . I did not pay 3k markup price they were asking. With an APR of 5%.. I went to different Toyota dealership and negotiate as much as I could but all wanted 3/5k more over MSRP till I found the one, I fought with them till the end Not easy, go prepare ppl ❤
Well done Jon! Stellar Tundra, my preferred color, and the more I look at your videos, my preferred platinum package. Originally thought I wanted the TRD Pro, but the more I read, the less appealing that is. Also, prefer to fly under the radar, don’t want a lot of panache and badging glued all over the sheet metal. Yours is perfect, inside and out. That 6 1/2 foot bed is proportional and looks awesome, not to mention more functional. Very well done!
paid $71,300 for my platinum. tax title. came with everything but tow mirrors. came with floor mattes, tanno cover, paint protection film, trd air filters. msrp was 68,500
I'm about to pay cash for my 2023 Tundra Platinum Hybrid when it arrives. There are tons of people who would tell me that is a bad decision. Most of those people are in much worse financial shape than I am. 100% of my money is invested into the U.S. stock market. The rest of my assets are a paid off nice house and several paid for higher end vehicles. Debt should not be the norm, especially today when money is expensive.
Why people get so mad when you put a big down payment? I'm the same way i put a lot if i have the money, and because of that, my 22 tacoma trd off road is almost pay off,BTW so good you don't pay a market adjustment bs
So those stupid extra charges are added by Southeast Toyota. They own the rights to all Toyotas sold in the Southeast. I have bought 14 Tundras in the last 2 years and the only way to avoid those charges is to buy in Texas. You should let people know that Southeast Toyota is ripping off everyone who buys in their states. $700 for 2 oil changes is rather ridiculous. You can fix your debt/income ratio and lower your apr if you buy your vehicles through your company. Navy Federal right now is 3.64 for 60 months. The power steps are very annoying for taller people. Other than that, I love my new Capstone.
I'm sole for my LLC so I don't think it matters when I looked at it for Tax/ Income like that. Just looked at Navy and it's still in the 5's as well/ . Thanks for that heads up.
@TRD JON If I could post a screen shot here I would, but today a 60 month loan for tier 1 credit with NFCU is 4.74% and their business loan is 4.45%. Debt to earnings ratio (business form of debt to income) only affects you personally if you personally guarantee the loan. Hence the name Limited Liability Corp. It means that the business's liabilities (debts) are limited in ownership to the business itself. The debts don't affect owners or investors.
Is the hybrid a noticeable difference in power or fuel economy in your opinion? I understand that system isn’t made for mpg and the Tundra and Sequoia are different vehicles, but their pretty close to compare since you have both with probably similar driving habits.
I have 2023 Hybrid platinum 4x4 and get around 19-20 mpg in town and have gotten up to 24 on hwy. The hybrid benefit is more 450 HP and torque 500#. This is great for towing and it is awesome to cruise in downtown parking lots on battery alone. Take that Tesla. 😂
Picking up a Solar Octane TRD Pro next weekend in the PNW. Very hard to find one of those here. OTD price is set at 77k. Not great, but there isn't any of them around.
I just signed a paper today and put $1000 to waiting for Toyota to build me a 2023 trd pro and msrp $72k and dealer charge $5k on top of msrp and after tax is $85k.
I bought my 2019 Tundra four years ago. Toyota was offering 0% financing. Even though I had the money to purchase the truck, why not use Toyota’s financing deal? Thank you Toyota!
If you don’t mind me asking, what was your interest? It seems like you did better than me. Mine didn’t come with automatic running boards so kudos to you. Remember people will always have opinions of what you do. Keep doing you. As long as you and your family can sleep good at night that’s all that matters.
If your happy with it that’s all that matters. I own one and love it. Sure the price sucks but it’s a guarantee MSRP is not getting cheaper by the year.
The Power running boards are cheaper through the manufacturer. AMP (which makes most of them for the Manufacturers) AMP powered boards aftermarket are around $1500+. It’s really hit or miss somethings are cheaper aftermarket and others not so much.
@@TRDJon oh yeah. I remember you said that Storage part in your previous vid. Just a Lil Bit Extra Storage. I guess it’s the Availability part :) oh well. I guess in the Future u will sell it for the Hybrid. (I just Know) :)
