Much higher in the provinces. My Meralco bill in Manila is usually always ₱4K ($70), and I’m running an automated home with server, lighting, fans, dehumidifier, robot vac, split AC, 65” TV, cold water dispenser, air fryer, ref, instant pot, washer/dryer and kettle.

Mark, the rice cooker IS NOT the energy drainer, believe me. That heating element is small and outpout relatively little. It's a combination of energy draw, especially, as you pointed out, the air con. Also, if you have any water heater in the house, that is a larger draw, by far. All other things aside, comfort is primary. Just moniter your usage, and make temp adjustments as needed.

You right I need my AC my electric bill run around 7,000 to 9,000 a month,I have a split unit in my bedroom stay on all day two floor fans 2 electric burner but I am comfortable. could I get it down sure,but I'm not going to give up my AC,I'm enjoying my retirement with my beautiful Phillipina wife and daughter our 3 dogs and one cat living it up in davao del Norte,tagum city.

I have a one bedroom with split aircon, big fridge, icemaker, lot of gadgets, etc in Mandaue City. My bill is usually 10,000 too. I usually only turn the aircon off if I leave. To me it is worth it to be cool.

I don't have aircon here in the states. We use a whole house fan to draw cool air into the house at night. I've done that all my life, learned it from my parents. I've never seen any videos of people doing that in the Philippines.

Western style should also include dishwasher, automatic washing machine, 40 gallon hot water tank clothes dryer and microwave and induction cooktop and many other things I think you may not have.

Small Refridge and split aircon always a win . Air con a small bedroom can save huge and running it when ever needed . Sleeping out in open air on second or third story roof deck during the night . No mosquitos , breeze , radiant floor tiles . Solar is nice for brown outs . I pay more than 3 dollars but am always looking to pay less .

Not bad, my October bill was 17k. Installed 5kw solar for 550k and got excited to see my bill was only 6k this month. Big house though with 3 ac units, 2 fridges and 6 residents. My poor brother in law nearly fainted when he saw the first bill since he's been in the house alone paying 800 a month for a year. Then when I whipped out 18k and told him to go pay and get himself a tank of gas on the way home he started laughing like he'd gone looney. Locals don't get that I don't give a damn, I'm gonna be comfortable in my house. If it costs me $300usd a month I'm only $75 over my old bill in the states. Take away my $200 water bill, insane insurance rates, and all the taxes we paid and I'm still saving a fortune.

Hot dog grabbing leads to more sweating or more air conditioning usage. My guess is that the air con bill goes up a bit and the hot dog vendor is happy. Good video and I vote for staying comfortable while you are working.

When I used to live in Angeles City, my electric bill was around 12k/month. 8K of that was the actual usage and 4K were all bs fees Angeles Electric tacked on.

I lived in an apartment, in the Philippines, where the local neighbors were stealing the power and water of that apartment. You need to be careful with that stuff because it's not illegal in the Philippines to do so.

One thing for sure to cool your home is raise your ceiling about 2-3 feet and have plenty of vents. Its like the rocket-stove concept it cycles the stagnant air. Also it also helps to have insulation on the roof. We did that change on our homestead and we barely use our electric fan ever since.

Get solar to reduce bill............check ecoflow products for panels and batteries........might be good investment once installed so u can move it after

I left PH and moved to Cambodia. I don't need aircon here so Im saving a lot. I used to run my aircon 24/7 in PH and I was stilll warm. Getting the aircon serviced and cleaned monthly too, so thats another 1K. Now in Cambodia Im not even tempted to turn it on. Also the housing is 2X value in space and building materials and location. The food is 4X value with international choices and high quality ingredients, free maid service, free WIFI, no traffic, professional spacious well-built businesses open late/all night! (...not closed at 9 or 10pm, or when the owner is tired), and all those thousands of things in the PH that caused me severe stress, don't exist here. That 3k-6k a month I save by not needing aircon, goes a long way in Asia.

The setting on the AC is also very important. If set high enough the AC units is just another fan running. We set our AC to maintain a temperature of about 28c/82f. With lowered humidity 82f is comfortable. One wall downstairs and split upstairs. Our bills are in the low 7's pesos. About 12.5 pesos per Kwh. One downside of a split AC is they do not bring in outside fresh air.

the electric fun is strong with electricity same with us before ..what i did is i didn't use the electric fun i bought a ceiling fun in the market and that reduced our bill..

My past electric bill here in Central Florida was $50.13 just in taxes. The KW used was 3,053KW at .17 per KW With the Meter reading charge of $12.51 and the fuel charge and other fees on the bill with the usage charge was $560 total. Cooler months could be as low as $200. So your electric bill is cheap compared to Western lifestyle living. BTW a rice cooker uses only about 3 cents to cook a pot of rice. Look at the wattage on the cooker and figure the time it is cooking and divide by your electric rate and you will see it is cheap to cook rice with the electric rice cooker.

Like Mark said, split units are much better for the power usage and also very important, the noise level. you can not hear split units at all when you are sleeping, however, the window units have kept me awake at nights sometimes. I have been here full time since May, my bills have went down, from around 3000 my first three months here to last months is a little over 2000. If you keep your weight in check , you will get more use to the climate here, and enjoy it more.

You can get efficient window type units with inverters. My house is 160 sqm with 3 window units. But 2 of those are in guest rooms. But our bedroom unit runs 24/7 but is a new inverter type. Downstairs, we have one of those floor standing units that is 2 hp. But I run it a 30c, and it freezes me out. We have 2 tv's, 2 refrigerators, 2 heater units for showers, and 3 fans that run. Our bill is about 7K pesos.

In Ohio right now it's Absolutely Freezing So my Utility Bill for One Month was the Highest it's Ever Been Before it was $80.. In the province, you pay cano prices for 3rd world service. I can deal with the cano price per kilowatt hour, but it would be nice if some of my money went for line maintenance. Maybe eliminate some of the constant brownouts.

a rice cooker running for 20-30 minutes twice a day isn't your problem. that comes out to only about $4 max a month.

Here in My Daanbantayan house , we paid 11k electric. But have 3 split air, a giant refrigerator and big screen tv. Sad part is to see the line of people to pay the electric bill on last day before cutoff. You would think they were giving out free rice.

Window inverter is efficient. Personally don't li,e the split type. Very hard to clean and maintain.

This is why i spent 5000 usd completely renovating our house in GenSan. New roof,ceiling and insulation all around among other things. Havent got the first electric bill yet but im expectig at least a 40% saving. I also noticed (in general) the windows here are anything but air tight. Also in the US a $200 light bill is normal, hell.....in Texas it blows up to $300+++ in summer

There are newer inverter type ac units that are way more efficient but are close to a mini split. They're about 300$ here.

In my small 35sqm house I run a 1.5HP split 24/7.. rice cooker, refrigerator, Cold water cooler, 55" TV, PS5 video console with 2 kids, Computer and monitor, and more.... our bill is about 4500 to 5000P. My bill in Bago City is around 4,000 php. Two aircons but both are split units. One runs all day the other only when we are home. I have no problem with 4000 php…😅

In TN the heat bill was 30k in Philippines this is because I stayed in Puerto Rico for nearly all of January and my 87 year old mother has friends over all the time running 2 HVAC units 1 gas and 1 electric nonstop

3 split ac 1.5 kW , 12500 peso , all the rest of our stuff is not enough to count, I know this because I put in solar power and have a hybrid inverter that shows the power of each device. now the bill is under 2,000 peso

paint roof white/ will reflect sun. if any of your a/c are in-wall box units, replace with efficient split units. also, a temperature-controlled roof vent fan would constantly move the hottest air out of the unit

The more I watch the more I love this channel. I have a 2000sqft house in Philippines and had in laws stay for 2 months. Electric bill went from 5k to 13k plus they broke our new rice cooker, electric stove, glasses and a few dishes. Glad they finally left. My wife was more pissed off at them then me. 😂

Tip for laptop...buy a USB keyboard. plug that into the laptop and type on that. Only good while at home, at a desk. Way more comfortable than the tiny laptop keyboard. Spill on it, sweat, whatever, and you buy another keyboard. Super cheap, $15-30. I'm a software engineer and wear keys down to not being useable pretty fast. Ruin a $20 keyboard or a $1500 laptop. Same with the mouse. Works way better. Wireless keyboard and mouse works good too.

Rookie numbers! We live in Thailand. Typical SE Asian house with two split ACs, 4500W instantaneous water heater, two-server cluster and zero insulation. For the first three months the meter reader refused to leave our bill because she thought there was a problem with the meter. Our first bill was 6100THB/$175 for 1200 kwh. At $0.136 per kwh it's not too bad compared to the west but still expensive for the average Thai.

And during the peak of summer it’ll only cool the room down to 86F during the day. $189.98 is an electric bill between early fall and early winter when heat and air aren’t being used.

My electric bill monthly in Muntinlupa City southeast of Manila is around P6000 - P7000 per month. That's in a good size house. 3 refrigerators, one 1.5 hp split ac unit. I use my Xbox series x almost all day to watch RU-vid play games, Netflix etc. I don't mind the high bill. I'm retired military and collecting Social Security too. Love it here.

Solar,wind,water power, plus gas,diesel & propane generators for home, garage and workshop we have. But dont use aircon much due to natural breezes... but on demand hot water heaters are a must for me. my🔋are full even in the rain and we can now run 12 days on just batteries all before something has to start recharging the system. total loss for 12 days is 46% with 30% as a back up reserve,,10 % is total emergency.... my land electric bill less then $3⁰⁰ for the service fees and taxes only.and a street light at the road entrance..I'm not effected by brownouts. I have 24/7 power. The stored energy is at 💯 of 10k watts.that never seems to drain down. And water energy are @ 87% on the dry days of low flow. Water storage after filters 2k gallons in fresh tanks and 500 gals for toilets ( I'm spoiled.. I like hot showers & my ladies like warm baths. ) though they amaze my by still washing most their clothes by hand.😤😕. Mind you.. some of this energy is given to the farms that surround me.. and in return I have support of resources I don't have to supply outside of my compound... win /win for me,my crew and my community... and I have peace and quiet 🤫 with no drama..my house is positioned in a way i don't hear anything but nature... no chickens ,no dogs, no karaoke, My cook has early morning pick of fish & meat. Every day. And I have a free supply of all the chicken meat and egg I can handle. Not to mention the large amounts of fruits and vegetables trees 😋.. Get you a projector.. turn that big wall into a theater screen and show movies outside.. 😊

You have to run the A/C or all of that expensive Sony gear will succumb to the humidity of the tropics..... fungus filled G Master lenses don't have very good image quality.

AC wall unitS not very efficient and I guesd single pane window and no insolation in wall and roof or ceiling. Just for fun I compared price in Thailand for 908 kwh. 3,935.60 THB , 110.61 USD 6,177.73 PHP. Editing and making money with RU-vid is worth the expense.

My electric bill here in northern calif, in a regular size house is in these winter months is about 250.00, we have an electric hot water heater, gas stove, heat comes from a pellet stove, 210.00 a month.

I live alone in arkansas, US. My power bill was $44 in march. Always stays well below $100 until i crank on the AC in summer. But shop fans are great if you don't mind the noise.

During the day we use a large stand up floor fan. I could not live here without AC at night. Right now it is 11:30 am and the wind is blowing pretty good so the doors are open and the house is cool. The other video on noise - the parade going down the road in front of your house. No parades in the resort but the noise and parades are evident out on the main road and in Mactan New Town for the Sinulog celebration. My wife and I saw the very first one in 1970 having no idea then what it would turn into today.

The rice cooker has a kilowatt per hour usage rate. You can do the math and multiple with the price per kilowatt-hour. A rice cooker is on less than an hour. I vote for the mango grenades.

The first rule in environmental control is insulation. If the standard is 4” of insulation, build 12” walls. Yes much more expensive but also far stronger and energy efficient. Build is one time , energy control is a life time.

Only 190 bucks USD? I am in Vegas. My highest bill at the peak of summer last year was 480 bucks USD, and that is with the thermostat set at 78 F which makes it barely tolerable for me. 2100 Sq Ft house for Ref. Wish i had only a 190 dollar bill in the hot weather.

Your gas fire to heat up the rice instead of the electric element, in turn heats up your house which makes the airconditioner work harder - which means that you will use txtra electricity maintaining the same thermostat temp. If you have an effective rangehood/extraction fan that has insulated line out then you may be able to counter the extra pressure on aircon. I would suggest that you use timers on your aircon and have them switch themselve off at approx 2am. Let the wife cook the rice with the 'lectricity. The convenience of having the rice cooked to perfection and kept warm for late meals is a value in itself. Just my two cents minus a half penny saved.
