The truth is, you can teach yourself animation without attending school or spending a dime. While prestigious schools can offer industry connections, success ultimately comes down to your talent and dedication. I've seen people who went to animation colleges struggle to find work, while others who started as hobbyists now thrive in big studios. Ultimately, consistent practice and a commitment to improvement will showcase your talent, and companies will take notice sooner or later.

I went to The Art Institute of Phoenix and it was exactly as you said, not a specialized animation program, just an afterthought added into the program to get more students. I wish I had taken a class at a specialized animation school way earlier.

College for animation and art is overrated, to say the least. The true talent of being/ becoming an Artist lies within you! Do engage in self-learning - it will be hard but there's light on the other side.

Hi Alessandro, your topic is always interesting as usual. I was one of those guys who tried to study 3D Animation on his own, even following your tutorials. I think, as a beginner, having a professional guidance is crucial for someone who really want to learn and perform with High quality. Both Online Animation School/Private Mentor, are great options. What matters in the end is to learn and "understand" feedback from professionals and put in the work! At least that's the way i see it 😊

Do you think there is a best approach for someone that is already in the industry?

Hello Alessandro, could you make a video about "How to study animation with videos"? I signed up for an animation course, I'm in the body mechanics stage. In a morning I can attend one or two 15-20 minute classes. I usually observe a little, pause and do what the teacher did, and when I realize I'm already trying to do it myself, so I go back to where I paused the class. So, I don't know if I should watch the whole class first... or watch half... I think one morning is too much to watch just 2 classes of 15-20 minutes

Tell him the animation programs at most colleges are an after thought tacked onto the other programs to sucker more people in. You need a specialized program, ie an apprenticeship type scenario and that's what mentors at animation mentor and other places are like. Its like back in the day apprentices were how people learned new trades. You need a specialized training system focused on one thing and one thing only animation.
