Good video guys. We were looking at relocating from the north. Rent is high is BC everywhere, for a 1 bedroom (no utilities) basement goes for $1600 a month in PG.
@leviandvictoria
@leviandvictoria 3 года назад
PS we realized after we filmed this that BC no longer charges for medical, so the $75 is not accurate 🖤😳 oops!

2 of my children attend UBCO and pay $1100 a month each for a junior suite. They will be looking for a roommate situation next year just to save a bit on housing expenses.

Oh yes I am sure renting a place with roommates would be a good option! There are always pros and cons to each situation haha

Thank you so much, this is super useful! My partner and I are wanting to move to BC from Australia as soon as COVID lets us and trying to figure out how much it will cost has been really difficult so this helps point us in the right direction :) Would you say these costs are pretty similar around BC? We're thinking of places like Fernie, Banff, Nelson etc.
@leviandvictoria
@leviandvictoria 3 года назад
Somewhere like Fernie or Nelson would most likely be cheaper especially for rent, as they are more "rural" and Kelowna is more of a city. I don't know too much about Banff rental prices! All gorgeous places!
@cierraandmike
@cierraandmike Год назад
@@leviandvictoria We live in Nelson and the average rent is over $2k plus utilities. Even if you rent a room it starts at a $1000. We are also very limited on rentals because everyone wants to live here. We use to live in Kelowna and we found it way cheaper there compared to Nelson.

Hi, nice video...I was wondering if its possible to get a 1 bedroom accomodation for about 700$ , also what websites would you recommend to search for accomodation ?

Hi guys, thanks for info. We are likely moving to Kelowna in summer. I’m quite up to date in terms of rental market in city but what’s a hood source to find quality rentals? What area are you in of city? We are looking into pandosy and 2 BR high end units go for 1700-2200 from what I’ve seen. Moving from ON ago BC. Cheers!
@leviandvictoria
@leviandvictoria 3 года назад
Yes! We are in Glenmore. I would say the main places to find rentals are Facebook Marketplace & Craigslist! There is a high demand for rentals right now to make sure to reply promptly if you see something you are interested in!

Hi there! I'm considering a move to Kelowna from Ontario, but I'm hearing that finding a pet friendly rental is difficult. Do you have any insight on this?
@leviandvictoria
@leviandvictoria 3 года назад
Hey! Sadly there is a very limited number of rentals available for how many people are moving here right now, so lot's of people just say no pets because they can be really picky. I hope you find something!

This is really interesting! Im curious, are there studio apartments for rent available over there? If yes how much do they go for per month? If you guys could share a link through which one can look at apartments for rent in that area it would be great!!! Im opting for a studio cause I think it would be much cheaper! Thanks guys and that was a really informative and helpful video!

Thanks for your transparency on this. My partner and I are looking at Kelowna as an option for moving to Canada from the U.S. (and I'm looking at UBC Okanagan), so having a realistic look at costs is really helpful. Also, do you have a video on which coffee shops are the best for working/doing homework at? haha Any recs for when we visit to scout Kelowna out? haha

Great video guys! Thinking of moving there by the end of this year. I do have a couple of questions to ask.. 1.) How was it for you guys searching/finding an apartment? Did you have a difficult time looking for a place or did you find a place right away? 2.) In terms of jobs, particularly in the restaurant industry. Is it easy to find jobs there? Thanks! Hope to hear from you guys soon!
@leviandvictoria
@leviandvictoria 3 года назад
Hey! It is quite competitive to find a place, I would say be prepared to be patient, and be prompt when replying to listings! It took us about 4 months to find a place. As for looking for a job, we don't know too much about the restaurant industry here (other than the fact that we like to eat at them lol)!! Let us know if you have any other questions

loved this video guys! Also SK is SO cheap lolol. Can’t beat it. Also $60 on coffee is super frugal (as a coffee lover 😂). However my car insurance in AB is $20 more than you!
@leviandvictoria
@leviandvictoria 3 года назад
Hahaha love it!! It is tricky because we don't count coffee when we are going out to work on the business in our personal expenses! So that would make it more ;) and that is good to know that BC isn't the only place with high insurance lol

Brutally honest. Anyone living like this needs to rethink where they're living. I'd seriously think about relocating to Alberta. Bc isnt a place for financial security right now and the standard of living is terrible unless your well off. You need to invest in a home.

Compared to Vancouver: Getting around Kelowna is easy and fast which save tons of fuel. Rents and house prices are a little bit cheaper in Kelowna. Travel west, east, south or north is much more fun than in Vancouver. Fuel is 14 cents cheaper in Kelowna and will be cheaper when Costco gas comes in Kelowna by year end. Kelowna is better for lake fun, skiing and getting away. All and all Kelowna is much much better.
@leviandvictoria

Rents are ridiculous high evedywhere in BC. One greedy homeowner started raise rents so now all landlords raise rents at every possibly opportunity, illegally as well. .many many illegal suites here as well. Watch out for slumlords.

$3000.00 a month is a safe number, if you buckled down you could get it around $2,500.00 but then your not living. Good job guys! BC has a high cost of living and its only going to get worse.
