Did I make enough money selling coral at my first frag swap to justify doing it again? What a whirlwind experience. I can see why vendors stress out about selling at swaps now. The easiest part is the selling…the hardest part is figuring out EVERYTHING that needs to happen before the swap.
I sold a wide variety of frags from zoanthids to SPS and leathers to mushrooms! I think having a variety really helped a lot.
Use this list as a loose guide of what you should bring to your first swap. If you’d add anything, please comment below!

Fantastic video on what’s involved with a frag swap! I think the biggest fear I would have is also the Zoas not opening 😆 I’ll see you at your vending booth at Aquashella 😂

Thanks! I want to be as transparent as possible...and because I was scrappy with this I saved a lot of money. Trust me, I definitely thought about not following through but I'm glad I did. Hope this helps if you decide to sell!

I was very impressed with your booth one of the main reasons I made sure to buy from you. I loved being able to see the prices and very cheap. Plus watching your RU-vid I had to get something. I know you mentioned a giveaway in a previous video. I accidentally bought another frag of sunny Ds it has three polyps on it as of right now. You can include it in your giveaway if you want it.

I'm subscribed to many different RU-vid reefers, but your channel has quickly become one of my top 3 favorites. Same with knife dealers. At the shows we would buy all the good knives. The public never see them. Its really not fair...and I was a dealer. No Slash booth 2022? Great times yesterday. Alex was the king for sure. I won a TDS meter and more. You missed a blow out after the show, one of the vendor's helpers left a heater on in the cooler and cooked all his chalice. He lost his shit and other vendors had to tell him to quiet down.

Unfortunately, I had 0 time to prep for the swap. Took the kids to Disney last week, celebrated Easter a week early in my hometown, more travel coming up...just didn't work out. Keep looking out on the local FB pages. I'm gonna post some stuff soon.

Totally agree on the leathers and mushrooms. Have at least 12+ different leathers. Including a huge weeping willow.

Oooooh! Important info! Those orange buckets are not food/fish safe! Next time look for (white ones w/blue lids at Lowes). The orange is ok for short times, but if you are traveling long times make sure you use the food/fish safe

Reefstock Denver was the same way, mostly high end multi hundred dollar torches. Very very little beginner frags and price points.

I was talking with some other vendors and they said some of their best sellers were GSP and Pulsing Xenia. For beginners, that's where they look. Nothing wrong with the east corals we deem as "pests." Gotta start somewhere. I tried to offer a wide variety for all skill levels but I think I still missed the mark a bit.

@@BahamaLlamaCoral the market is hard enough to keep up with. Best practice for swaps is to offer mostly beginner corals. Mushroom,leather, Xenia, gsp and so on. I wouldn't bring higher end top dollar pieces till you build a reputation in the community. Your RU-vid channel helps that out alot, as people watched you get that coral and or frag it at some point. Keep the videos coming and over hype the next frag swap out the ass. Great video and glad you made alittle pocket change lol

The reason leathers aren’t sold much is after cutting takes a long recovery time. Also they don’t always open with a short amount of time. Super brutal

Tried checking out OSA that you plugged in your videos but they didn't have any live stock. If you ever want to check another box, as in mailing some coral I'd definitely be interested in grabbing some stuff. Biggest issue I'm running into with buying coral is its ridiculously priced with big vendors, and even people I meet locally charge just as much so why bother. It's led me to buy alot of tank shut downs just to get a good price on coral but now I have a small aquarium shop worth of equipment in my garage 🤔

I'd say 95% were out and open. For whatever reason the Agave's and White Zombies didn't wanna come out and play. I have a feeling it was due to lack of flow.
