Hello!! I've been struggling with writing assignments in university since I was a freshman. Do I need to be a great writer to work as a policy analyst? If so, do you have any advise?

Great question! The thing about academic writing vs business or professional writing is that one is more formal. In academia, we are expected to formulate a strong viewpoint, defend that viewpoint, and do so in a very methodical and formal manner, with our "futhermores" and "moreovers". Writing in the professional realm, such as policy work, requires it to be more casual and digestible to wider and non-academic audiences. So, what I mean by this is that if you found that academic writing wasn't up your alley, you may actually align more with professional writing. I hope that clears that up!
