Fascinating work on this. Really puts some perspective on the community as a whole. On things to be done: -I will certainly appreciate seeing this regularly done. -We need a resource library, even if it's just a google doc, and I think I know who could be the librarian! -There's been talk of a "RU-vid Union," and this makes me want to push for such a thing more. We shouldn't try to become a Multi-Channel-Network, but an actual union...that's something that will help. It would require dues, just like any union, which would help pay for a librarian and other things. Lots of problems with that, of course, but it's an idea. Perhaps that what the Slack could transform into. I'm only speaking for myself here, but it seems like quite an opportunity
Thanks so much for your hard work on this, a big undertaking. Very interesting insight into the community, especially as so many of us work in near-isolation. Great to learn about other creators. PS - I feel so exotic
1. Something you didn't talk about as you went through the results is how you fit in with that data (aside from your supposition about your being queer possibly encouraging other queer folks to be open about that/respond to your survey). I'm sure you spent time thinking about it, both when crafting the questions and when collecting and processing the responses, but I'm wondering what if anything stood out to you in that comparison. 2. Which also leads into some curiosity about how and where the responses differed from what you were anticipating or expecting. 3. As for the gathering resources to address issues/organizing labor, it seems like there's an overlap in your goals with the ICG. 3a. You just brought them up yourself, and I hadn't known they were shutting down. :-\ Despite that, I wonder if there's anything helpful to your goals to be learned from what they did, what they tried, and how and where it failed? Clearly I haven't looked into it, but I'm guessing it's crossed your mind.
Also, this was incredibly insightful and reassuring. Thank you for making this survey and shedding a light on the kind of things we educational creators deal with in the quest for knowledge.
This was really interesting. We could have a focus on different themes in future years and goal set accordingly. This year was on mental health and work-life-balance so what could WeCreateEdu to address that? Also what could we do to achieve gender and race parity in the result or the community?
