Hi Richard, the only thing that would have been awesome is if aem, snow or one of the other water/methanol injection companies hooked you up with a 8 injector or throttle body plate injection system so you could show that those gains were primarily charge cooling on the injected application of the tunnel ram.

Increased atomization with the carbs on high ram is a huge deal one of the reasons turbo charging works so well. Would be cool to see how hillborn injection stacks would of worked on that stroker.

Still get more with a big single 4bbl! Seen Nelson Racing Engines test the difference on a build they were doing. Also learned from them you gain like 100+ horsepower with long tube headers over zoomies! That was on a 2500hp motor, but still.

I was thinking about how old-school jet boats are trending again. How about a typical 500-650 hp BBC or small block and compare different brands of old and new tunnel rams and dual-plane intakes that are used on boats that typically spin between 3500-5500 rpm. If there's a low-end to mid-range rpm tunnel ram I'd like to see it.

@DBLDREW
@DBLDREW 2 года назад
@@177SCmaro probably, but its possible that the tbi makes the most power due to not having a restriction that a carburetor has to have to pull fuel but still has the air charge cooling effect. and because its fuel injection you get a more stable AF ratio so lower torque numbers should be better then the carb set up, but is it as good as the port injection? actually testing all 3 would show it so we dont have to speculate
@177SCmaro
@177SCmaro 2 года назад
@@DBLDREW Port efi when you want more precision, carb or tbi when you want a little more power. Probably the best set up would involve port efi for start up, idle and cruising and then adding in injectors just downstream of the throttle body to cool the charge on manifold designed to be "wet" but this is a lot of added cost and complexity/tuning for a relatively small power gain (only about 20hp on a 700hp engine). The restriction of the venturi on a correctly sized carb is negligible in most cases (especially dual carburetors), but still worth noting.
@DBLDREW
@DBLDREW 2 года назад

@177SCmaro
@177SCmaro 2 года назад
@@DBLDREW On a 700+hp engine 20 hp is relatively small, ~3%. Atmospheric conditions can make a bigger difference. It's not really necessary to test. In this video they tested efi vs carburetors on the same intake. tbi is going to be very similar to a carb(s). Again, venturi on a properly sized carb cost negligible hp relative to efi. So long as carbs are "big enough" a comparable efi tb without venturi doesn't do much, if anything. In other words, if an engine at a particular power only needs, say, 800cfm then putting a 1500cfm tb on it isn't going to do much, if anything.

@@richardholdener1727 my point exactly! The LS is getting all the attention and aftermarket support right now, but it's still limited by it's pushrods. The VE56 has more "junkyard turbo" potential than a 5.3L LS in my eyes, as long as the bottom e d holds together.
@jasonwcoleman250

If the VE56 got the same attention as the LS then the Nissan 5.6 "should" outperform even a 6L LS. It's also in a WIDE variety of their service and consumer vehicles....... Richard.... Please turbo a junkyard Nissan 5.6.

Ls7 heads over the ls3 heads on the same bore will make 30-40 more hp. It's definitely the ls7 heads. I've seen C6 z06 guys afraid of dropping a valve again will go down from their 600 rwhp hci ls7 to ls3 heads and make 550-560 rwhp. The ls7 heads really do make that much more power than an ls3 head.

@gloriamaletta8667

Not going to doubt you with less money and headaches to a naturally aspirated coyote 5.2 will need to turn 9200rpm to do so so I'm thinking it better be put together right using the most expensive highest quality parts available to do so and even then it will not touch these torque numbers these engines are making better off with the Ford new gas 7.3 truck motor it will be much more simple more cost effective and make way more torque than a 5.2 coyote but your entitled to your opinion and it will be more reliable and last longer than these engines the 5.2 coyote will be turning 9200rpm and the engines in the video turn 7200rpm think about it logically even if you made this kind of power with a 5.2 coyote engine it would be a edgy engine and wouldn't last very long and would wear out quickly turning this kind of rpm

Really most engines making this kind of power aren't going to be daily driven it's going to be going in something lighter 3800 pounds or less even this setup with the lowest low end torque will have plenty of torque for street driving and l could be wrong but running this kind of engine without at least a 3000rpm to 4500rpm stall converter and 4.10 gears or more would be pretty much a waste of time you'll only be worried about the power were the converter engages say 4000rpm to redline 7200rpm the most average torque and horsepower throughout this powerband probably wins but peak numbers look good not to many street cars driving around have this kind of power as these setups tested big bore and stroke power and big horsepower numbers
@gloriamaletta8667
@gloriamaletta8667 2 года назад
I know LS3 heads rectangular port heads compared to cathedral port heads like LS2 or LS1 heads with all things equal same engine the LS3 will be down torque slightly below 3500rpm but generally the LS3 head will make more torque 4500rpm and up and more horsepower 5000rpm and up but I'm talking engines much more tame than in this video under 550 horsepower and 6.0 or 6.2 liters much more likely to see something like this street driving or cruising around than something making 650-750 naturally aspirated horsepower monster
