Me in geometry class: When will I ever use this? You dropping this video:

The way I did HORRIBLY in geometry 😭 conversely, that was like the first year I was into boys and I had a MASSIVE crush on a boy in my geometry class 👀
It's also good I think to take into account the area of the hands people use to apply the suncreen with. If someone measures out for example 0.8 grams for their face, but then first rub the product between both hands, or spread it out with both hands, that's quite a lot of additional area where product will end up, that is not taken into account in the 0.8 grams. For most people I don't think 3 fingers is excessive at all considering how they apply the sunscreen. Too much or too long rubbing can also effect the SPF.
Another day of me asking if you can review and suggest Asian lip balms with spf and American brands. I love how detailed you are! I discovered you a few days ago and bought 6 of your recommended sunscreens in one sitting hahaha

I have a few! I’m just waiting to accumulate more 😭 any specific requests?
Second this! I'd love a comprehensive review/round-up of SPF lip balms. Ideally, options from US, UK, J+K is ideal because as you say, "VARIETY!" I can't say TY enough. (TY!TY!TY!) I know this requires a lot of work. I've been purchasing through your links. HTH 😍❤️😍
I generally use 2/3 fingers depending on the sunscreen. Me and math do not get along!! It is really hard to figure out exactly how much to use especially if you are in a rush to get to school or work lol. So I just apply multiple layers to make sure all my exposed areas are covered.
i always wondering if i use enough sunscreen. i usually finish 2 tubes of 50ml sunscreen with a lotion-y texture in a month for face only, i use separate sunscreen for my neck and arms. after i measured my face and ear, i found out that i actually applied more than i needed. i usually apply 2 layers of the same sunscreen to avoid missing out on certain area of my face. i reapply again in the afternoon and before i got off from work. each reapplication also 2 layers. no wonder my friend told me that i am being crazy for finishing 100ml of facial sunscreen per month. i'm glad knowing that i am protecting myself
I tried the biore Athlizm in red packaging and I’m loving it just as much as the Biore Aqua rich!! Thanks for the recommendations Ramon! I also LOVE the Nivea super water gel spf 50 🧴 in purple pump bottle 🧴
my sunscreen is quite liquidy so i can't measure it with my fingers so i just apply it in portions first - my forehead, cheeks, chin etc, then i work it in, not pushing too hard so i won't take it off and just spread evenly... it is mineral so it is noticeably white until it dries down a bit, i can see it all over me and just hope i put on enough lol
Loving the new intro😄 I do the two finger rule but I just started using the biore sunscreen and with that one you get a lot of product so it feels like I am putting too much sunscreen. Ima get myself a lil scale so I can try this out!
@ So did I! 😭 I knew I had an objectively large head (find me a one-size-fits-all hat lmaooo), but wow this tape measure just sucker punched me and ran away with my lunch money 😭😭😭 Edit: okay, I might be closer to 29 cm, but still, I feel Attacked
I bought the Black girl sunscreen a while ago and two finger lengths just felt like a LOT on me. Measured out one finger and it was enough to fill 1/4 ts. The opening of the tube is quite wide compared to other sunscreens I was using(purito and klairs). Definitely wanna figure out my face size now😂😂. Great video!
I just layer different sunscreens...I start with a moisturizing one...let it dry for a few minutes...follow with a more heavy one, milky version... then before going outside a third layer of any other sunscreen I just want to finish 😁😁😁.. .. any other sunscreen I didn't like or enjoy on my face goes on my neck or back of my hands... personally, I do not use mineral sunscreens..to difficult to work with....and I do reapply at least three times a day....
This may seem a bit excessive, but I’m wondering...if you have that scale at your vanity-& know the weight of that particular sunscreen to give the right density-you could tare/zero out the scale w the bottle on it, then squeeze into your hand, & put the bottle back on the scale & see if you’ve reached that (negative) amount. Eliminates the need also for the measuring spoon bc you can just go straight into your hand. (Tho, I guess the one way it could fail is if you pour out too much.)
3 года назад
That’s true! I generally measure into the spoon though the just have a visual of what the volume looks like so I don’t have to use the scale in the future. I really only use it for precision purposes while filming reviews
I use 10 pumps of the 11 Village Factory Hydra Sun Fluid to cover face, ears, neck (front & back). I apply 2 fingers length twice when I use Biossance. 😵😵😵 my face when you was doing the math...it's after 10pm and nothing is computing 😂😂😂
This was so much fun, I loved it. I so need 1g for my face, according to google that is exactly a 1/4 teaspoon.
3 года назад
Double check that! 1 g of a lot of sunscreens barely fills an 1/8 tsp for most sunscreens I’ve tried. A full 1/4 tsp generally gets up to 1.8 - 2 g depending on the sunscreen itself.
Grams are a unit of weight and teaspoons are a unit of volume, so it’s not a fair comparison. For instance 1g of something light will be more volume than 1g of something heavy.
Yes, WEIGHT (ie.1g sunscreen) will VARY in volume. For determining SPF, weight is the only consistent measure. So, if you fill 0.25 TSP with sunscreen A,B,C (liquid texture vs cream vs gel) you have a consistent VOLUME of 1/4TSP. However the weight will not be identical.
I loove my little scale 😅🤗 Never measured my face, so I always weigh about 1,2g sunscreen for the first application in the AM. It's great to get a feeling of how much g of this or that sunscreen looks like.
Thank you soo much, Ramón! This is wonderful, just like all your videos!! I had a scale like this for a chemistry class but unfortunately I can't find it but I'm definitely buying one now. Is there a specific sunscreen that you use for your arms? Because I wear sunscreen on my arms sometimes, but not always unless I'm really getting a lot of sun, simply because most sunscreens are so small and I'm not sure how much to put on my arms! Do you have a good rule for how much sunscreen to put on your arms?
Hi Ramon. My HG is La Roche Posay Invisible Fluid. 3 finger lengths on my face, half a finger for my ears, two fingers for my neck and chest. Then I usually go right back in with a finger or two on my face. I tried measuring a quarter teaspoon and I put it on my face, and it was definitely NOT ENOUGH. I don't have an enormous face, but that stuff just sinks right in and disappears!
I wish individual brands would put suggestions on their bottles because math isn't for me. I use the Australian Gold Botanical tinted. Because it's "fluffy" two fingers would be like a tablespoon. I can't figure it out. I just slap some on and hope for the best.
I usually do 3 fingers and sometimes that doesn't even feel like enough. I have VERY dry skin though 😅 definitely gonna try measuring it out just to see how close I am. I frequently have to put sunscreen on on the go, so measuring is not feasible daily.
What's your thoughts on the Sonrei sunscreen which claims that bcuz it's sunscreen isn't "watered down" you can use "fingertip" length as opposed to how much you need for regular sunscreens?
Ive been into the biore essence recently (picked up per your recommendation) and I really love it! Dosent pill or ball up on the skin (like ms. Cos rx aloe soothing cream lool) but I also picked up the kose suncut gel for days i need something a little more emollient, cant wait for it to get here!!
Hey Ramón!!! My face measurements are the same as yours!!!🤭🤭 Can you let me know the quantity of the Biore essence sunscreen you put on? Thank you so much!!! ¡Un fuerte abrazo!
Unfortunately, skin cancer can happen on ANY skin. I've heard of it occurring in eyebrows so truth is, YES the sun can penetrate under a beard. A heavy beard may possibly provide more natural protection, but you can't be sure. I know what a hassle the search for HG SPF is, but please do consider using a clear liquid sunscreen over beard area. In US, Sunbum & Neutrogena offer this option.
Wait so just for our faces, it’s just one finger length we need? Or 1/8 teaspoon? I always use a different sunscreen dedicated for my body on my neck and ears and I know for a fact I apply more than enough of my body sunscreen. But I didn’t know the amount recommended for just the face is so little with all the curiosity around the subject now. I think I’ve been doing more than enough for my face too then lol.

For ME and my face. Different sunscreens have different densities, so that 0.8g can vary as to how many fingers/how much of a tsp it can take up. I got a small face. But yeah, if you use a diff sunscreen for your ears and neck (which is practical! I do the same thing from time to time), I’m of the opinion that people OVER apply (which can be good and I would rather people err on)
Why the heck do people consider the Purito - may he rest in pieces! - looked elegant?!! It made me look oily and wierd.. Plus.. Wasn't comfortable around the eye!!!!
3 года назад
Again, skincare can work different on every one. I actually loved the Purito when I had very compromised skin. It’s soothing for me
Actually I have pretty normal sized face but quite long fingers so for my face and neck a generous one finger is enough in my experience. But that applies only to the Canmake sunscreen 😀 As a chemist I am triggered my non reproducable experiments 🤣
I’m interested in that one! One question! Does it sting your eyes? (I’ve been using mineral I switched to chemical for the warmer weather and oof my eyes start tearing up and then they can’t stop because of the alcohol) since this one is alcohol free would you say you didn’t have any bad experience with that one around the eye!
Done, thanks for the video, it's very helpful. I need about 0.9g for my face only. Tomorrow at morning I am going to weigh the amount and see how much it actually is. Question: When reapplying sunscreen during the day, do we apply the same quantity again?🤔
3 года назад
I mean. Technically you should, but I also eyeball it and it’s probably a little less, depending on the formula? But again, sometimes you find out that 0.9g really isn’t that much!
@ omg! I can’t wait for your deep dive on that one 😍 I just tried it today and it’s the first chemical sunscreen that doesn’t sting my eyes, it’s easy to apply and has a matte finish. It’s very runny though so I’d love to hear your thoughts on proper amount to apply.
If every human being wore the proper amount of sunscreen and reapplied enough we’d all look like ghosts. Ugh a white cast needs to be normalized
3 года назад
A lot of sunscreens don’t offer white casts though! Plus I think tech has gotten far enough where we will/should be able to avoid that being a reality. There are very, very effective up filters that are generally compliable with most skin types and don’t leave a white cast
Do you recommend wearing sunscreen on highly irritated skin? I recently found out that I am allergic to my new propolis toner and have rashes all over my neck this week. I'm scared to wear SPF on my neck and treating it with a cica cream and a hyaluronic toner for now. Let me know any tips or advice please and TIA Ramon ❤️
Yes, definitely wear sunscreen. It Is a trial and error thing though. Mineral is generally less irritating than chemical, but also a bit drying compared to chem.

@@Selsmittenxo yes I have very sensitive skin so I have always used physical sunscreens but with the recent rash from propolis I haven't worn SPF on my neck the last two days. I will continue to slather SPF on her tomorrow then. Thanks for the reply!
