I love the direction you are going with this B5 Blue Challenger. I want even be mad when you pass my B5 Blue Challenger SRT Hellcat. I wanted to go down same build as you are doing looking to 426 stroke a 5.7 Rt with hellion twin turbos. I passed on it when I was offered 10k more than I bought my Challenger for. So I sold it and put 10k down on my Hellcat. Paid 43k for it used 15 model 7k miles. Can't beat it. Can't wait to see your car back on the track.
Super helpful video. I’m debating getting a hellcat or taking my widebody challenger 392 to the moon and this is making me lean towards building my car
I love the turbos idea. Im thinking of just keeping my 1320 n/a and going w/ a good cam for the dragstrip. One potential issue w/turbos- stock engine and trans.
You can get drop in forged pistons/rods for $1800-2kish from mmx or HHP. The base hellion 62mm turbos can make 1000hp. You’ll need to upgrade to a dual pump fuel system with bigger injectors as well
1200rwhp would have been much better with 68,71, or even 75mm turbos. You want to be about 30% under max output for the turbos to be in their sweet spot. Those 64s will be working hard to handle that 422 at that power level. Thinking of twins on my Hellcat and I'll run at least 71mm
A guy with a 411 stroker and the same turbos as me made 1399 to the wheels. I’ll be maxing out my injectors around 1100ish and I’m fine with keeping it around that for quite a while lol.
It’s sad to see big name company’s ripping off the little guys, that kit prolly only cost them maybe 2500 to put together and then turn around and charge people 9k for it 🤦🏼🤦🏼
Gotta pay to play. I'm hoping to be a bit lower cost w/ lower expectations. Shooting for 850 whp. But not that far off total wise. Have to pay that Hemi tax unfortunately.
Thanks man! I did a video not too long ago going over my n/a build. Best bet is a custom cam for your setup, ported heads, ported intake manifold or potentially a hi ram depending on the rpms your new cam will support and bigger injectors for e85. If you want to take a step further forged internals with a higher compression ratio or a stroker kit will get the power up into the 550-600hp to the wheels range.
@@B5beast422 Oh ok thanks really helpful, would you have a guess at how much labor it would maybe cost extra if I had a mechanical install everything for me?
If that’s what you wanna do then go for it. For all of my mods + what I paid for the car originally I’m only around stock hellcat cost, but will make almost twice the power lol… so I’d rather stick with my scat
@@jamestgilkey75 still building my car obviously but yes… mine will be making around 1200 to the wheels on the higher boost settings. Stock hellcat makes around 630 to the wheels
Yeah the Cummins is already turbocharged though so that compound setup for them is really simple, which is reflected in the price difference. I was looking at a compound setup for my Cummins too lol, one day.
For most people that’s a great option, really just depends on the situation. Working on the car myself is saving a ton of money from not having to pay a shop, and I’ll have a lot more power than a hellcat since my motor will actually be built and can take higher boost
@@juan_ctzz I’m in the EXACT same boat. Bought my 392 thinking I’d be happy, but all I think about is how I should’ve got a HC because that’s what I actually wanted. Sucks ass don’t it?
@@B5beast422yes, but if you had bought a used Hellcat, you could've "built" that car as well. If the Scat had the HP-90, it would be a much more level playing field. The used Hellcat prices are still very reasonable for what you get.
