@@IsaiahRivera1 Damn that's awesome, we gotta collab sometime. I'm going to start posting regularly, and I know a crossover vid w/ your jumping would kill it.
Took a long break from trying to dunk because of ankle injuries but finally started to put in the work to fix it and start to jump again. At the beginning of the year I struggled to touch the rim and now I’m dunking off the dribble at 5’9. Vert is up 9 inches in 8 months from 29 to 38. The information you post has been so helpful
@@CaioSantos-tz6kv 6 Day a week pull push legs but I worked up to that. I warm up with injury prevention for hip flexors ankles side glutes and the McGill big 3 everyday. Try to get in plyo on my leg days doing weighted jumps step ups kneeling jumps pogo jumps etc. I haven’t done as much as I could have due to freak injuries playing basketball. Jump sessions to practice dunking I try to do once a week. The most important thing for all the progress I’ve made is nutrition. Shaving the body fat I had has just made me a better athlete. The only problem I’m having is trying to stay at a lower weight because of my joints. I keep getting bigger and leaner. I’m getting close to 5’9 170 at 10% bodyfat (quad veins oblique veins a legit 10%) but I want to be 165 to jump higher
I went from 24” - 30” of vertical in almost a year, so I went from barely touching the rim to dunking. I am 6’4” 150 Ibs with an 8’2” standing reach at 15 yrs old. I focused on plyometrics and practicing jumping and a little bit of strength training as well. Would I need to rely on more strength training if I were to continue with vertical jump training to reach 36”?
I know I’m very late, but when he’s talking vertical ranges does he mean standing or running? Also, do you have any beginner workouts with and without weights? I’m trying to get my parents to let me go to the gym but it’s a little iffy. I also don’t have access to a low rim.
Being advanced freaking sucks haha it takes soooo much patience. John was so right when he said we have a lot of low jumping periods then super highs like 2 months out of the year. You gotta LOVE it for sure
I guess 10ft 6in is the bare minimum for dunking entry, Currently I’m at 9’5” jumping reach, 25in vert At 5’9in. I’ll have to get my vertical to 36in Which is another 13in on top of where I’m at currently.
I am 15 and a half and have been training for 2 years. At the beginning of my journey I had a 24 inch vert and I now have a 37-40 inch vert, does that mean that I have just as good genetics as Isaiah?
If I start training consistently at the same age as Isaiah did(15yo), can I get some crazy bounce? Like is it the best year to start? Sry if it sounds like a dumb question but i wanted to know
@@IsaiahRivera1 whattttttt thats the first time I comment, yet YOU responded to me!! Well now that you’re here I want to tell you to keep doing vids its so helpful for guys like me, plus I approximatively have the same vert as you when you were my age, so its really motivating. Thank you !! I’ll work hard
Im from montana im 17 almost 18 and have like a 27 inch vertical im 6 foot and i was just wondering how much training i should do or if my vertical is too low rn to even be able to dunk
“The gospel is that I am so sinful that Jesus had to die for me, yet so loved and valued that Jesus was glad to die for me. This leads to deep humility and deep confidence at the same time. I can’t feel superior to anyone, and yet I have nothing to prove to anyone.” - Tim Keller
I am commited to dunking. That is my Future. I want to increase my vertical. I am at a verge of become an elite dunker. I can dunk (depending on the rim height and/or how good or bad good days are. I am committed for real. ISAIAH and John Thank you for inspiring me. I am from Puerto Rico and I want to aculhieve them in the future.
I'm at the lower end of that age range. I did the math and my "time multiplier" after a year of good training was 1.6. So Isaiah's comment above is pretty spot on with how it's been for me!
I went from a 30 inch vertical to a 45 inch vertical in 12 weeks. I was 18 and I developed my own program based off the information i had read about strength development. Its one of my proudest achievements. Its cool to see so many guys like you who found their own path to jumping really high.
My vertical went from 37.5 to 39 being 5’11. I can jump pretty high but I can barely dunk. I’ve done jump training for awhile now but I’ve hit a very big plateau while also having lcl pain.
Brother.. I want to join you in a program and a technique for jumping high, but I am very broke and I do not have a job, but we have volleyball in Bahrain, the financial entrance of which is very high for the level of the player, and I want my level in jumping to be distinguished in order to earn financially in order to benefit you and benefit My brother, I follow your videos every day and every night. I hope for a response, my friend. Greetings, Nasser❤
Awsome video!! Is there a number you think most people can get? Like should most (average height, weight and under 35) guys be able to reach at least 36 inches with proper training? Im 6,3, 220 lbs, 26 y old, with a 28 inch V. I play volleyball and havn't been diligent in the weight room enough. I feel like that and having the need to shed off around 20-25 lbs is what have been keeping me from making progress.
What if I’ve been at the same vertical for years. I’ve had a 36-37 for the past 2 years. I haven’t been training my vertical at all and it’s been the same. So if I start training again will my vertical increase more quickly
Nice, isiah, i have been training since almost 1 year and some months, i can dunk with lob 2 hands, but i cant dunk with ball, bro i need to improve that
