You will reach toxicity range if you take high d3 in liquid form combined with high calcium intake. Other than that, if you do not have serious stomach issues, you should be fine with 5000-10000IU (pill) per day.
I always had taken 1000IU chewable vitamin D every day and surprisingly still had a vitamin d deficiency! I always wonder how much of vitamin d is toxic, finally got the answer today. thank you doctor!
Hey AC, thanks for writing in. We recommend taking Vitamin D3 at about 5,000IU daily for 2 months, then dropping it down to 1,000-2,000IU/day for more maintenance levels moving forward. We don't recommend taking the 5,000IU daily continuously though if you did, you'd probably be safe as you'd need 40,000IU+ daily to reach toxicity levels. But at the end of the day, speaking with your doctor is your safest bet when it comes to supplementation. -The FFP Team
I've been taking 400 IU's of D3 daily prior to viewing your video. Does this mean I need to increase my intake to 1000 IU's daily or somewhere in the middle like 2500 IU's daily?
Thanks for this great explanation! I take 1000 IU of vitamin D3 every day and I've always worried it was too much. It's good to know it's in the safe dosage range. I can't imagine people taking 40,000-60000 IU a day, that's pretty crazy!
Thank you for this information. You were clear about safe amounts to supplement and clear about the level to reach toxicity. Please provide similar information for vitamins A, C, E and K, along with addressing the B complex issue. Most doctors seem to fear vitamin overdoses more than obesity, yet every elderly person who enters the hospital seems to be diagnosed with a vitamin deficiency of some sort.
A very good video...As an older guy, I take 10,000 iu per day, but also take D3 with K2 to divert the D from soft tissues. Add some Zinc and Magnesium as well. When you get older, you need to add more, as you don't metabolize it as much. Also, if you have no gallbladder there is not as much bile to process the fat element. It all depends on age, condition, etc. Get your blood levels checked first.
@@Fitfatherproject No worries...You may also want to check out the information regarding recent clinical trials completed in Spain regarding the effectiveness of Vitamin D. These were valid controlled trials, not random.
I am 73 years old, supplementing since about 4 years daily 14.000 iU of Vitamin D3 + K2 + Magnesium - and my tested D3-level is 83,5 ng/ml. No problems at all and I am in best shape without any flu or cold since about 4 years. In my opinion the recommended daily intake of only some thousand iU is too less to gain remarcable effects - esp. in regard to cancer, breast-cancer and prostate prevention.
@@glennusher4160 - "14,000 a day? Way too much." - My actual (13.01.2022) D3-level is 86 ng/ml. So why should 14.000/day be too much, in your opinion, when my level is absolutely top class? But surely 14.000 a day could be too much for a guy in his 30s - but not for a guy of my age (74) and of my weight (95 kg).
I have kept my D levels between 90 ng/ml and140 ng/ml for eight years now and I just don't get sick anymore and I feel great. I have had only two mild colds in the past 8 years and all of the health problems that I had before getting my D level up went away only months after getting enough vitamin D. From my experience, I think that the blood levels that you are recommending are too low. I think the best vitamin D level for most people should be between 80 and 110 ng/ml. The institutions never do studies for levels like this so they never see the benefits at these higher levels.
Hey doc would you say 5,000iu every other day is safe or dangerous!? Or should I go down to one time a week? 5,000iu is all I have btw 🤣😂 so now I’m all over the place.
@@Fitfatherproject Cool thank you for the help, I wasn’t sure going into taking the supplements, but then I wondered why they would even sell 5,000iu for if it wasn’t a safe dosage 🤣😂
There's a big step between 4000 to 40000-60000. I hear a lot of nutritionists recommending 10000iu a day. Have friends who have taken that much for long periods of time.
Hey SG, thanks for the suggestion. Vitamin D is fat-soluble so taking it with meals is important, specifically with a meal that contains fat. Being fat-soluble means that the intake of fat helps your body absorb the nutrient. As far as morning vs. night, there isn't enough evidence to suggest one is better than the other. Since taking it consistently is the most important thing, taking it in the morning with your breakfast is ideal as the routine usually triggers people to remember! -The FFP Team
@@Fitfatherproject Scrap that last question it needed to be made appropriate! What was required to get your "doctorate" in Naturophy? Where is it from?
Thanks for info! Should we’ve taking Vitamin D2 or D3. Isn’t Isn’t K2 an important supplement to take along with Vitamin D (2 and 3)? Many videos talk about Vit D but no mention of K2 to support the effectiveness of Vitamin D.
Hey SRhodes, thanks for writing in and great questions! Vitamin D2 is cheaper to produce so is found much more often in fortified foods. It is also found more in plant foods and if following a more comprehensive diet as we recommend, you will be getting plenty of plant foods! Vitamin D3 is synthesized through your skin and is much harder to get through your diet as the majority of us don't get enough of it from the most plentiful source: the sun. So we would recommend placing a higher emphasis on D3. Regarding Vit K2/D, they work in tandem to help with the absorption of calcium, not necessarily to help with the absorption of each individually. Plus, once again, if following our recommendations, you will be getting abundant Vitamin K through spinach so you should be covered in all aspects! -The FFP Team
Hey Diane, thanks for writing in and great question! You sure can take both together as they work really well in tandem. Vitamin D helps with blood calcium levels while Vitamin K helps ensure proper calcification in your bones, as well as ensures too much isn't built up in your soft tissue. So taking them together is a great way to reap benefits all around. -The FFP Team
For me, 2000 IUs per day over a year was too much. There are individual but also racial differences. I got diarrhea, heart palpitations and most scarliy, got anxiety and panic attacks. I recently stopped the Vit D supplements = no more palpitations and no anxiety.
@@chrisburns5691 Caucasian. But I recently discovered that Magnesium is essential to metabolize Vid D. I eat now once or twice a week a bit of organic Magnesium and that is the missing piece. All is great again. Now I am fine with once a week of 20 ug VitD, even now during the dark winter.
@@justineandserena Sometimes I took VitD and K2 combinations. Yes, if I remember correctly it was also causing problems. Btw, it seems K2 is actually not essential. We can get it easily from green veggies (K1) and our body and our gut bacteria converts it to K2. So I will not take K2 any more. It seems to me that all Vit D pills are overdosed. Seems we should just eat like tiny amounts of VitD together with normal amounts of Mg in order to keep our balance as its not natural to have so much VitD in our bodies.
Hey, doctor ! What's your name 😅 ? I THINK YOU ARE AN ATTRACTIVE MAN ! How about that ? Forget the vitamin D3, let me rewind this and watch you talk. 😃 P.S. I subscribed just to watch you talk again on your next video. 😸
You are so full of crap...you need to get your facts and research right...Research has shown ..even taking at 100,000 IU for 3 month ..they reached 300 Ng/ml with no toxicity ..you do need to take Mk-7 at 500 mcg per day, so your calcium does not increase....and by the way , they do have 50,000 IU to buy in many places so I don’t know where your idea of taking a whole bottle...Make sure your giving the right information...
40,000 IU in a bottle is NOT an exaggeration in the least - it depends on how much is dosed in each capsule - example: 1000 IU per capsule or 2000 IU per capsule or 5000 IU per capsule and so forth. There was nothing absurd with what he said per that comment.
Unless that’s prescribed by a doctor, that’s truly a dangerous amount of D3 to be taking long term. Short term to correct deficiency, that dose can be appropriate. I’m not saying anything is wrong with your health. That said, I would highly suggest you get a serum vitamin d3 test. Pretty much all the major research councils on D3 agree that D3 blood levels above 150 is dangerous. It alters calcium metabolism as you know. We definitely recommend taking it with the K2 to help avoid arterial calcification. That said... I do doubt that 100mcg of K2 would be potent enough to counteract 40,000 IU D3. And remember: sunshine is still the best form. The sulfated D3 via skin pathways is the optimal form. We were not designed to require supplements (although they are helpful due to modern living). I hope this helps. 👊🏼
@@Fitfatherproject I was doing 5000-6000 iu of d3 an my level wasn’t anything crazy .. 56 ng an 142 p/mol .. now I’m Taking 7000-8000 iu d3 I’ll test soon an see if I’m too high.. but I doubt it I’d imagine maybe I’m raised over 60 ng now
I disagreed with the value of 20-30ng/ml as efficient. I think you have to get to at least 30ng/ml to be considered efficient. If by efficient you meant that you be just enough to keep you function somewhat normally then it’s ok. But if you meant to be healthy and striving then it would be around the range of 40-50ng/ml Around 60 mg/ml have been found to keep you cancer free. Some people are taking 1,000 to 2,000 iu per day and still get cancer because their blood vitamin D level is not high enough. They need to find out then take a higher amount of vitamin D such as 5,000 to 10,000 iu per day to get to the 60ng/ml.
You should aim for 75 IU per kilogramme of body mass if you are chubby like me. If your body fat is very low, 60 IU per kilo of body mass should be enough to get to 40ng/ml.
Great info. I take 10,000 IU daily. My value is 50.0 ng/mL. I have my blood work done every year with a physical. Before I started taking the 10,000 IU, my levels were 17 ng/mL. Solgar has a 10,000 IU in a single softgel.
@@Omnicient. Different boards recommend different recommendations. But they all range from 4000 to 10,000 being safe. I heard of a guy taking 4000ui for a year and still being deficient.
Your still not saying HOW MUCH SHOULD A MALE GUY TAKE DAILY I TRAIN 5,6 DAYS A WEEK HOW MUCH DOSAGE 2,000 OR 4,000 DAILY HOW MUCH. THANK YOU I NEED A RESPONSE. Amado.
Start with 2000 IU per day. Most importantly, get out in the sun in the morning and let the rays hit your skin for some time. The natural sulfated Vitamin D3 your body makes from sunshine is the BEST form.
I wasn't aware that anything like Vitamin D3 can be too much but after watching this video I have got sufficient information on how much should be my daily intake. Thanks a lot for the video.
@Fit Father Project Your Vitamin D3 is wrong. There is no research showing calcification of the blood for Vitamin D3 levels below 600IU's per day. If there is research please post the links to your research.
i've bought some vit D3 100 iu and it says take one a day DO NOT EXCEED recommended dosage ? would it be better to take 2 a day with living in the UK and working indoors all day
Hey Truth, thanks for writing in and great question! This is a question better suited for your doctor, as only they know you and your situation best. They can also provide you a blood test to determine your current Vitamin D levels, and determine an amount appropriate for you moving forward. -The FFP Team
I took my D3 with walnuts and scrambled eggs with lots of olive oil, and a little zinc...all before any caffeine. I will take Mk7 (natto) in the afternoon and Magnesium at night. I'm trying to avoid Vitamin E and Fiber when I take the supp. I bought CHEAP eggs which have less vitamin E, and walnuts are HIGH in fat and relatively LOW in fiber. The E in olive oil isn't significant. (Fiber binds to the vitamins and prevents absorbtion, Vitamin E competes for the receptors) I am over 60 and not overweight. I took 10,000 iu yeserday and it boosted my mood all day in sun-free Northern Winter, Today I'm taking one 2000 iu gelcap and 5 drops from 100 iu per drop iquid D. I am careful to add the olive oil to the eggs after the heat is off to not form trans fat, and to add D drops when all cool. I wait an hour before any caffeine because it blocks receptors for D3. I am watching for kidney damage from too much D3...
Hey Sam, thanks for writing in and great question! We normally recommend our members to take 5000IU/day for 2 months, dropping down to 1000-2000IU/day thereafter. However, the best way to know for sure is to verify with your doctor as they can help provide a more specific amount based on your personal numbers. Thanks for watching! -The FFP Team
Not “must” but I do definitely recommend it at the ratio of 100mcg K2 per 5000 IU D3. For this reason, we put K2 into all our fit father supplements that have d3 in them
I always wonder how slaves stay so strong. They worked in the sun daily. From sun up 2 sun down. Plus they got collard green's and watermelon 🍉 😋 which is good 4 the body.Only God knows all things, which is good 4 humans. Some slaves live 2 70yrs old 2 100yrs old. Now l know why👍🏾
You wouldn’t think someone would be stupid enough to consume a massive amount and OD in it, but they can be. Just the other day it was in the news that someone did exactly that. He tooK 50k 3 times a day (150,000 iu) for a month, at which time he got sick and stopped taking it. He was still sick 2 months later and finally went to the hospital for treatment. 🤦♂️
I have a level of 26 ng/ml of Vitamin D (the minimum sufficient is (30ng/ml). At the pharmacy they give me 600 I.U. to take, telling me that is the most I can take. Plus Vitamin D supplement diminishes the effect of thyroid medication that I take. so I guess I have to rise them as well to take vitamin D. How much is the minimum to raise your level to like 50ng/ml at least? Do I have to talk with the endocrinologist for Vitamin D advice??
interesting that people with low vit d3 have been shown to be more susceptible to COVID19. If you have more melanin ie darker skin you need more D3. If you have higher BMI you need more D3, If you have an autoimmune disease same thing. Also take d3 with magnesium and vit k2. See Eric Berg's most recent videos on this.
My vit D is only 50ųg. How much i should take and its chewable with xylitol. Does excess vit D cause skin hypersenitivity? Like it goes very red if touch or vit A does that 800ųg? I also take zinc and vit C.
Hey Innerview, thanks for writing in and great question. Unfortunately, this is a question that may be better suited for your doctor as only they know your body and your situation best. -The FFP Team
Hey Andreax, thanks for writing in and great question! It depends how long you are taking the 50,000IU over. If over a week's period that is probably fine though if looking for exact amounts, chatting with your physician after a blood lipid test is the best way to determine the amount right for you. -The FFP Team
He recommends 10k normally. He only said to take over that and up to 40-50k for a very short time like a couple of days or less than a week. I think it was if people around you were sick and it was just to prevent you from catching the cold.
Hey Carol, thanks for writing in and great question! You are right that Fat-Soluble vitamins remain in our bodies as they are not excreted through urine like Water-Soluble vitamins. This is just one reason why it's important to get our nutrients from real food first, using supplements to help fill in any missing gaps. But please consult your physician before starting any supplements. -The FFP Team
