Thanks for another great video Chet. It was interesting and enjoyable. Not the flower couch. Oh my goodness. We will miss it. And those that rested on it and the dogs. Goodbye couch. Boat mechanics now. Those boat motors are hard to work on. Seems everything fits just so. Running without water. Don’t know about that. Boat water pumps are touchy. Beautiful double props on that motor. Wow. Hopefully all will be ok once in the water and running!!!! Ship ahoy Dougo. Sounds like the planters are ready to go for spring planting. And you have the fertilizer tanks on the tractor. Good job done there. Looking good- - ready for spring field planting. Yeah. Saw the old hay rack. Boy that brings back memories. Used to work baling square bales each summer as a young boy. Lots of fun in the hot sun but the pay was good. Many years ago. Thanks for everything Chet and crew. Was great to see Grandpa Merlin for a while. Very nice person. You all take care and be safe. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.

These yearly tasks keep coming around. I truly look forward to each time of year and the associated activities that go with it. Now that I have been watching for a number of years these tasks have become part of my circle of events vicariously through these fantastic video's. I thoroughly enjoy watching each one, the people, their interactions and the appearances of missed people including Grandpa Merlyn and of course Toby the other week.

Wrong. You can do it for 10 to 15 seconds with no damage.

wrong, the impeller is rubber. It will overheat quickly...

@@2chippedMarine engines use a rubber water pump impeller. Starting the motor like that can quickly destroy them.

Chet why don't you guys have a pair of metal cones made to fit in the ends of the sprayer tank supports? This would make it a hell of a lot easier to put the tanks on. Once in place take the cones off from under the tractor since you could make them long enough for easy access.

Dougo, never start an outboard without water going to the lower unit. you likely glazed the impeller and melted the plastic water pump housing. Also to get the gear case of a DF350A on use a starter lead button direct to the starter of the motor. Meshes every time for me. Been a lead tech for a marina for close to 27 years and you all had me pulling out my hair and yelling at my PC! Keep up the good work and I look forward to planting season with you all. God bless.

I am an ex-marine mechanic. That is a one man 5 minutes job you do not want to run the motor out of the water or on muffs It will burn up a water pump in no time. THANKS for the GIGGLE. God Bless you all.

It’s fine, that is how we drain our motors in the late fall/early winter when we come off the lakes. You almost need another green tractor in that line up. Oh wait! Can’t wait to see the new tractor.

Just a idea ,You might want to use teflon spray when installing those tanks.And they should slide right in easier with less friction.

If you have a run plugged in a full ccs tank get some fittings to plumb a splitter to pull seed off the next row. Then you can plant till the tank is empty. Make sure to plug the plugged line in case it opens up.

Might need visual target 🎯 that you can see over the tank and aim for the tractor 🚜 and the saddle tanks. It is a recurring problem for installing the tanks every year. Maybe a Simple stick and a big red ball on the top. A vinyl traffic Cone sitting on the top of the saddle tank. Bungee down if it doesn't stay put. 16:24

Good video…looking forward to some lake video. Now Dougo can swap out the rear deck speakers. It’s called a prop shaft but output shaft describes it too. Yes, marine grease on the gear shaft and prop shaft so you can get them off next time ya smack a rock😎. As already mentioned, those water impellers don’t like being run dry so always hook up the water muffs when not in water. I’m sure they coated the impeller in glycerin, but that keeps it lubed until water gets to pump (seconds not minutes). I’m no marine mechanic but have been maintaining my boats for 40 years and sometimes it’s a battle to get it stabbed and sometimes it goes on like butter. Sometimes the shifter gets bumped and you got to start over as forward isnt forward anymore which sux. I will say that’s a big motor on a toon…it should really move, especially with dual prop setup.

It really surprises me that those air clutch pumps aren't cooled by water. I'd try to find some that were. I run CNC motors (12-24000 rpm) that last a long time because of water cooling. Doesn't require that large a water supply either...just a thought. Great channel.

Change the impeller. $100 not worth nuking a $30k engine. As a marine tech this was gold to watch lol. That was the absolute pushing limits of the impeller. Rubber impeller/metal housing/ turning 1,000rpm with zero lubrication = melting 5seconds is kinda ok. 20-30 seconds really really not good. 1 minute. Impeller will be destroyed and you’ll be removing gearcase again Brody is right. We just pick them up and they slide right in most of the time.

With your operation I can see wind towers being a pain, but if you end up farming around them one thing you'll like is the all season 80,000lb road into the field and if you happen to own some, it's a nice check for no more ground then they take up. After construction you'll have to fix every tile the crane crosses and make sure they deep rip it's track.

Ok bad news you get to take the foot back apart because that 18 second run without water just ruined your water intake impeller. So dougo to fix the props they tig weld up any cracks and chips then reshape them grind and buff back to factory spec then high speed balance them. Because vibration is no good on that foot. Will beat the seals and bearings out. Want a little advice ? Personally I would check on swapping the foot over from propeller to jet foot. With no gearcase or propeller extending below the hull, a jet drive allows you to maneuver around or pass over obstructions that would limit the travel of a conventional propeller-driven outboard. And with electronic multi-point fuel injection, you get lots of responsive power with fuel-sipping efficiency.

Windmills coming? Guaranteed rate hikes on energy costs. Ours just went up 30% because of all this wonderful "renewable" energy we're now being forced to pay for. And as someone who was forced to replace the water pump after idling it with no water......good luck!!!

My curiosity is what if you put a larger hot side on the big turbo and a pressure activated gate between the manifold and large turbo to bypass the small one gradually. I know bmw does that trickery on their twin and triple compounds.

I was hoping that I could get a windmill farm out at my ranch so I could get the roads graveled and get good royalties. Central South Dakota doesn't have enough infrastructure to carry the electricity out so the project was ended.

yeah there are a lot of areas with suitable wind patterns than can't be installed for lack of transmission to places that can use it... it's expensive as all crap to put in HVDC transmission towers and conductor per mile... some really well thought locations could use it as a major source of income and benefit population centers' air quality...
