What we spend in a month traveling full time. It was family's first month traveling full time - this is how much we spent in February , our NEW March budget, and what I am doing to lower our expenses. Let me know if you have any other ideas!

You should go to Costco and get a day pass to buy cat & dog food. There’s no cost for a day pass and you can get anything you want. I love your budget updates

Great job. People don’t believe that you can travel that cheap but we did it also. Our first year travelling we only spent $25 for 4 months on accommodation. The only thing we spent extra on was gas! We had a great time. Stayed on BLM land went on lots of hikes and saw lots of free attraction and sights. Have a great time.

I'm sure its on the list - but would absolutely love a camper set up tour and a day in life video. Sleeping arrangements, how you cook, bathroom considerations, food storage, what you do when its dark out, schooling. I think a deeper dive of cooking on the road would be really interesting. I was actually quite surprised that you were able to keep your grocery bill so low. Not knowing the 'best price' store when traveling, things being more expensive generally. I also recall a big element of keeping your spend low is cooking once and eating the same meal for the week. I'd have to imagine without a fridge that changed.

Be mindful and aware that beginning soon, April/May many, not all, national parks will require entrance reservations. They often go fast and come with a small fee. This is with a national park pass. Many parks allow a work around this by allowing cars in before and/or after certain times. Plan ahead so you don't arrive at a park and cannot gain entry.

I knew some people who were docents at a beach side park in Oregon. They stayed there for a couple of months and had free rent and utility hookups while they were there. They had to collect Yurt fees and campsite fees. I think they had some maintenance they had to do. But then they didn’t drive as much. They loved it. You might want to look into it

How much a family lives on can differ based on income and financial standing. What is important I think is to know how much you can afford to and what lifestyle suits your budget/ income . My family of 4 lives on 10k a month not including emergencies and vacations. That isnt a lot as we make over 20k combined. What you are doing now isnt typical. It isnt a vacation or living at home kind of situation. So my question is have you considered how long you plan to do this and budgeted accordingly . Like 12 month , so 24k. Also is this higher or lower than what you spend typically if not on the road?
@kenyonbissett3512
@kenyonbissett3512 4 месяца назад
They have stated in other vids they have a large emergency fund. Additionally they have a few sources of income including RU-vid and several affiliate links. There is something else but I forget. They are extremely frugal and always have been. She did talk about their summer living, which would include the possibility of renting tiny houses (airbnb) to tourists because their land is near several tourist attractions for an additional source of land.
@JM.5387

They just sold their house in Florida and paid cash for raw land in VA. So they have significant savings to work with.
@Peter-pe6pp
@Peter-pe6pp 2 месяца назад
@@JM.5387 I would not call what their house sold for a significant amount. One emergency coupled with not having jobs or a proper roof over your heads and a couple of hundred thousand can evaporate. Living without income and having to incur costs to build a house will eat into that. So I wonder if they have factored in these.

For national parks I get travel books free on Hoopla thru my local library usually Lonely Planet or Moon. You can check the, out on your phone or iPad. Then I take screenshots of all the maps and hiking trails to my phone so that without wifi I can access them. They also state on the gov website that their primary focus is on filming that has an impact on the park and wildlife, e.g. film crews, large equipment, elaborate setup etc. It would be almost impossible to enforce -- and highly intrusive -- to start questioning everyone with an I-phone about whether they planned to upload their video to RU-vid, and whether their site was monetized. I hope rangers never start doing that.

I don't think that's too bad for a family traveling. Travel is almost always more expensive than staying home. As one who used to live in a food desert, I should mention we made a huge trip once a month to the nearest major city and stocked up for the entire month. We might make one more trip mid-month for anything that we still needed. It meant we did not have dining out expenses and never ate junk food. It was a pretty good way to live and I miss those years.
@nesadcruz7840
@nesadcruz7840 4 месяца назад
@@raisingwildflowers it all depends on what quality you are looking for. If you can afford it, you should spend on what is of value to you. I personally would budget more on eating out because that is something that is location specific. What I am curious about is how your expenses now compare to when back home in TN or previously in FL. Your categories would differ for sure because while travelling gas is going to be a big expense. That in unavoidable unless you stay move around less often, dont travel too far.
