I hope this video provides some insight on the behind-the-scenes of monetization on RU-vid, especially in the Art Niche. I would love to hear what you think in the comments. As always, thank you so much for watching, liking, and commenting! I appreciate it! 💛
My suggestion is to use everything you can, from Patreon to YT and everything by selling pictures or prints, the only thing I think is that you shouldn't invest your money in the beginning, we'll save that for later when you become famous. 🤍😉🤍 Congrats again!
That's honestly amazing achievement, and thanks for providing your insight. Getting that first paycheck from RU-vid is one of my favorite memories. I still remember it, there was lots of emotions involved. If it wasn't for my consistency and hard work (and a little bit of Famester of course), I probably wouldn't have made anything.
Congrats! As someone who watches a lot of RU-vid I’d say I dont mind creators putting ads in because if their content is good I feel like they deserve to be paid for it! I like knowing the creator is getting a piece of the ad revenue.
@rachelh5641 I feel the same! But I also recently realized that YT also puts ads in the front and beginning of videos even if the creator is not monetized. I actually prefer if the proceeds go not only to YT but also to the creators, because they are building something and should be compensated for it 😊 Edit: I wrote this comment before even starting the video, and Isabelle also talks about YT putting ads on not-yet-monetized channels 😅 hehe (so glad you benefit from the ads now, though!)
thats amazing congrats! i cant wait to reach there im only at 275 right now hoping to reach 1000 by the end of the year and the 4000 hours but its been hard to grow hoping the right people find me!! praying fingers crossed
Wow this is so relatable, THANK YOU! I’m not monetized yet but about 300 watch hours away. I’ve been doing this for 10 years so I’m anxious to say the least. I hope I get that one viral video to take me to 4,000 watch hours!
RU-vid doesn't necessarily add the ads where you specify, if you don't add enough to a video, they add more in the positions they think is best. All the best!
WOW 🎉🎉 congrats I get encouraged when see someone who is monetized as a small RU-vidr who is not yet monetized. I get hope that with consistency and determination one day I will also celebrate
Had a look at the channel. as a potential viewer I hope you don't mind some feedback! I think the thumbnails are what will be holding you back. They look like a PowerPoint presentation that you might get at a meeting at work, and I think few people would be drawn to that in their spare time. Perhaps some images, something more dynamic may help. Best of luck!
Congratulations on monetizing! Not easy so well done! I’m so close now so it’s really interesting to watch this video, thanks for sharing your insights. Also I don’t mind ads in the middle of a video 😊
I can totally relate! I have a math tutorial channel and just got monetized but it's definitely slow going. It's so nice to see other people at the beginning of their journey with monetization! It keeps me going for sure! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for sharing! Yes it's definitely nice to see other people on the same path. I hope you get to see more money coming in soon! Thank you for watching!
Congratulations! This is your best moment by far! Initial growth is hard and slow, but consistency definitely helps and gives rewards. Good luck! For me, I remember it took 7 months and then the growth slowly increased.
Congratulations! It’s so generous of you to share your experience and numbers. I have no doubt your earnings will be growing soon. I always enjoy your videos whatever they’re about xo
Thank you so much, Christina! I want to stay authentic and transparent and I even though the numbers are low you have to start somewhere! Thank you for your encouragements and for watching! xo
Congrats! I look forward to your videos every week. I think part of your success is that you’re consistent with releasing the videos every Tuesday. I enjoy the content and I’m so happy to see you show case the beautiful city of Milwaukee!!!
I don't mind ads in the middle of videos, if the videos are longer, say 25mins plus, but I don't like them on shorter videos. I really enjoy all your content but I'd probably say vlogs were my favourite 💜
I’m glad When I see videos like this come across my timeline suggestions! This is great insight. And You are really relatable. Hopeful can use this information to help my channel get past the beginner stage😂. Congratulations on your growth!!
I’ve watched so many of these and it’s nice to finally see one in the arts genre! I am a photographer so while it’s cool to see all the vlog stories I hadn’t seen any artists make this kind of video! Thanks!
That's honestly a great achievement, and thanks for providing your insight. Getting that first paycheck from RU-vid is a dream millions are carrying right now! Keep growing!
Thank you for your transparent sharing and authenticity Isabelle. Having commercial breaks on videos is definitely annoying as a viewer. But as a RU-vidr myself, these ads are unfortunately one of the available sources of income, and it would be a shame not to take advantage of them. Even more so considering the time and effort we put into producing a video (I'm talking, of course, about the creators who do everything themselves). So my advice, if you don't want to make your viewers' experience unpleasant with the frequency of ads, would be to keep placing the ad at the beginning and end of your videos. And maybe simply add one in the video, after you've teased an important piece of information that might interest your audience. However, the fact that we can manage the timing and number of ads is still an advantage. In conclusion, I think it would be a real shame to deprive ourselves of a return on the investment of our time. I'm convinced that if you're genuine, your audience won't be frustrated by 10s of ads :)
Thank you for your feedback and suggestion, I really appreciate it! I agree that I’m losing an important return on investment (soo many hours of work as you can probably relate). I like your idea of adding one ad strategically placed in the video.
Thank you! I'm running my RU-vid channel too it's about amigurumi and it's in Spanish, so I don't expect to have a lot of money from it, but I'm enjoying making videos. I made the subscribers requirement but im not getting the watch hours yet. I think what helped me to reach the subscribers requirement so relatively fast is how niche down I am. The majority of channels in mi niche talks all about crochet, but I'm only talking about amigurumi. Also I'm able to publish 2 videos pee week, a vlog and a thematic video.
Wow that’s great you’re able to publish 2 videos a week. Yes I think having a smaller niche is probably an advantage! Thank you so much for watching and for your comment! Best wishes
It looks like this will be a big video for you. Thanks for being honest about honest earnings. Your video was suggested to be in the browse because I was watching another video on the same subject. Wishing you much success with your art business!
happy for you, greetings from dominican republic. firtst thing you need to work is the miniature, try using at least 2 colors in ther letter of miniatures, also try to think in better titles
I didn't know that RU-vid starts to put Ads on videos before you get monetized. That's really interesting to me, because I thought it would happen at the same time as you get monetized. I am not monetized yet, because I need to be more consistent, but I know how hard it is to make a lot of videos with a fulltime job. Don't give up!
Thank you for sharing your progress . Congratulations! I started my RU-vid channel in 2020 and have recently been posting every week. I have seen the views go up and it does make a difference how often I post.
congrats thats amazing!!! thats my goal too im at 275 right now hoping to reach 1000 and the 4000 hours but its been hard and sometimes i want to just quit but this is my dream so im hoping the right people find me and help me reach my goal!!! 🙏❤
Congrats! 🎉 I love that this video popped up! I am also on RU-vid documenting my journey to becoming a full time artist and just experienced my first video doing well after one year on this platform. It’s such a wonderful feeling to know you are helping to inspire other women to go for their dreams! Great work and good luck on your journey. I will be watching and cheering you on as well! ❤from Canada 🇨🇦
Congratulations!! I reached the same milestone in May too! It was a long crawl and I didn't think it would happen this year but then I had a 46 second video that went semi viral and received over 250k views in a couple of weeks' time. I already had 1,000 subs at that time. The momentum from that video carried me over the "finish line" so I applied as soon as I could. My metrics look very similar to yours at this stage and I also have somewhat of a narrow niche (bird videos). My content is more driven by what the wildlife does in my yard and whether I think a video will be interesting to viewers. As for the ads that YT ran before I was monetized, I kind of looked at it as though they wanted to earn money on my content well before they started paying me anything! I'm happy to know be received a cut of the revenue. Since getting monetized in May, my videos have gone back to being viewed much less but in the past, I have seen some of my videos make a comeback for a while. But now they will all be eligible to make a little money if that happens again. Thank you for sharing your journey so far! Best wishes!! Edited to add that I have been monetized on FB since July 2023, so now I have 2 platforms I am earning on. It's not a ton of money but in my case, it at least covers the amount I spend on bird food! I don't know if I will ever earn enough to quit my day job, but it's nice to be earning a little extra!
Thanks! Congratulations to you too!! Oh wow, 250K views on a video, that's huge! I need to look into Facebook monetization... Thank you for sharing your experience!
Well done Isabelle - Its a longer journey and there will be highs and lows - but you already know that. The art of creating engaging videos is I think the key. We have to wear a lot of different hats and each 'hat' needs work. Your video skills will improve and you'll look back and see the difference over time. Just keep on having fun and let that shine through your art. The rest will find its way - Best wishes - Paul 😃😃😎😎
I purposelessly waited to get to the end of your video just so I could get to watch the ads and didn't skip them. I invite everyone to do the same because U deserve it. Now I have a suggestion : you should place the final ad before you present the viewer with the link for your next video. Because if people click to go to the next video there is no chance for them to view the last ad.
Congrats on your milestone. I have had a similar journey but I'm sadly disillusioned with it all! I thought about a Patreon etc but to me it just seems to lead to more work and deadlines. Like you I put about 15+hrs into my videos (Irish history) for little reward. I will keep posting but only as a creative outlet. Sorry for the negativity but I thought I'd share my honest experience.
Thank you! Thank you for your comment. I don’t think it’s negative, maybe just realistic. You’re right a Patreon page would add more deadlines and content to create so we’ll see. Thank you so much for watching!
Dear Isabelle, congratulations on this milestone! 🎉 I really like your videos, so when RU-vid suggested me your videos again, I subscribed. 😊 I am also okay with ads in the middle of videos that are >15 mins. I also don’t like it when a 10 minute video has 5 ads and all of them are not skippable. I like your idea of making tutorials. It would be nice to learn how to draw so good like you!
Hi Isabelle! New Subscriber here! I found you through your comment on @BoruArt. Congratulations on your milestone! You are a wonderful artist! I am also a self-taught artist sharing the same passion and aspiration with my artistic journey ! Thank you so much for sharing the insights! Wish you all the best!
Hi and welcome! Thank you for subscribing! Thank you so much for your kind words. 😊 I wish you the best on your journey as well! I'll have to check your channel!
Congratulations! I am still working on becoming monetized. The amount you earned is disappointing, but I hope that it continues to grow exponentially..
Thank you! 😊 I think it will but I agree so far the earnings have been disappointing. I could make more money by adding ads inside my videos instead of just before and after but I don’t like interrupting the flow of my videos. I wish you the best on your journey to becoming monetized! Keep going!
Congratulations and thanks for sharing your journey! Personally, I think ads in the middle of a video can be disruptive. I will also do the same as you - one ad at the start and one at the end, once I get monetised.
Congratulations on reaching monetization! And thanks for explaining how RU-vid "works". I don't really mind ads at the beginning. I quite like your vlogs, and tutorials on drawing with graphite pencils would be great! Merci!
Congrats. Hopefully this video will give some revenue, you certainly can not live on 20 dollars. I hope to get monetized in the near future, but I think I will likely also get around 20 dollars, but I will spend it on craft supplies! lol
Ads in the middle don't bother me as long as they are placed at the right point. Like as you are switching topics, or at a definite point in an artwork. Things like that :) You are doing great :)
About ads, If the value in the video is super super good I don't mind 1 ad if it's 20-30 minutes. I actually prefer sponsors from creators I trust. You make more money and I discover interesting services
Thank you for your feedback! I would prefer to insert sponsorship ads in my video from companies/products I believe rather than random ads placed by RU-vid. Hopefully that time will come. Thanks for watching!
