When Kalsum Harun’s son was first diagnosed with ADHD, she was told to “make lots of prayers” and that he would “grow out of it”.
For ADHD Awareness Month 2022, the Singaporean mother tells Unlocking ADHD why such mindsets are harmful - and how embracing and understanding her son’s ADHD has only improved their mother-son relationship.

I have researched for more than 1 year about ADHD & I experience most of the symptoms since from the childhood, growing up my parents were really abusive & physically aggressive, I suffer from low-esteem & confidence, I feel really worthless, also I am a thin guy, it's really hard for me to make friends, it takes immense efforts to even achieve modest results, the issue is I live in a country (India) where mental health is such a taboo thing, need some help, how do I manage my symptoms ?
