Well I certainly didn't expect to be making this video in 2021 but here we are because my RU-vid art channel got MONETIZED and I'm so excited about it! In this video I'll show you how it happened, the video that got a big boost, the monetization process and some tips for how you can grow your channel too.
Hold on to your hats and get yourself a tea or coffee because there's a LOT to talk about in this video!
We'll make a video before the end of the year to show you the RU-vid income we've earned once we've been monetized for a couple of months.

I recently started to get annoyed by younger kids who ramble on, can't spell words right, can't speak correctly without word-whiskers, and don't understand the art of speaking and modulation. I know this is something to learn, but I'm gravitating to older people who explain things in sections and use effective pausing. This helps the listener digest what's being said and what's on the screen. I'm an English teacher, writer, and editor, so these 'dealbreakers' are what help me learn new information. Not many people can do it, but I'm thankful you do it well, and give us bits of knowledge to apply to ourselves. You're so sincere and encouraging and I really do love your art style and seeing you grow in your art journey

I also have a small art RU-vid channel where I do things similarly to how you did them when you first started out (art timelapses, etc) As of posting this comment, I haven't even watched the full video but I can tell anyone already that it is very helpful and informative. The only ads I mind are the nonskippable ones. Everything else I can take a satisfying action to stop seeing it, but those ones I'm forced to sit through without feeling like I can do anything about it, and I find that far more frustrating personally!

I'm working really hard on my Channel to get monetised and I totally support artists and anyone's helpful videos I watch when ads come up. They are a way to give thanks so I'm happy to watch these ads (not always though lol) but honestly - it's just fair. Wonderful video, thanks for all the effort you put into it

Your journey is so inspirational 😍 It's motivating to know that even if you don't see much traction at the beginning, things can still change over time. I also love that you mention to not compare the journey because you both had your own professional skills beforehand. Congratulations! I strive to have even half as good of video quality as you have one day 😊 Thank you for this information. This is definitely inspiring! After becoming more aware of how ads work, I try to not skip ads as long as I’m not in a time crunch or at least watch a good chunk of it. I want to support creators, especially since I know first hand creating content is hard work! If I was monetized, I’d probably use ads similarly as you. I also try to watch at least half of someone’s video even if my brain wants to jump around a lot lol

I know this is late but congratulations on monitization. I don't mind the short ads, occasionally I end up with very long ads and end up closing yt for a while. I only started yt in February mostly to document my back to art journey. Monitization would be awesome, but it's not my goal. Still learning editing and literally everything else. But it's ok. Taking my time. 😊

Congrats in getting monetized! I’ve been working very hard to improve my impressions and click-through rate and am finally seeing decent growth in subscriber numbers. Accruing watch hours, like you said, can be sooooo slow and it was very encouraging to see how just one video can make such a huge difference. I loved this!! Thank you, I love the authenticity just SO much. I pay the RU-vid subscription so I don’t have as many ads showing up when I’m viewing. I don’t do this to avoid ads, although when the ads are too repetitive and I’m given the option I would normally scrub through them really quickly, but honestly I don’t mind the ads if they aren’t overplayed and do apply to me. I choose to pay the monthly fee because it lets me download content to view offline. This offsets the added costs I would have to pay my cellular service provider if I am viewing content when I don’t have wifi available, and I use the download feature a LOT. I hope this information is helpful, and thank you again.

I don't mind seeing ads while watching videos! Though I'm probably biased because I am a youtuber myself haha. But my view is that creators work so hard to put out content that people get to watch for free, so when I see them getting compensated in exchange for 5 seconds of my time, that makes really happy.

Yayy!! Congratulations, that's so exciting and you deserve this so much! I'm also an illustrator who has been working hard trying to get my channel monetized, although it's already been a couple of years since I started my channel. Unfortunately, I still have a VERY long way to go. I definitely have had trouble posting consistently, which I know is the main reason that's been holding me back from growing at a faster rate. I also recently changed my style and have been trying to incorporate travel and daily life style videos, since I ultimately want to create content that encompasses everything I'm passionate about. I'm really hoping that things will start to go in my favor soon. People don't realize how much work it is filming and editing videos and the whole creative process that goes behind it. This video makes me so happy to see other artists getting paid to do what they love. Keep up the amazing work. I love your art so much! ❤

content strategy is the key I guess. Im 78vids (shorts-5mins-40mins) and just coming up on 1 year. I just hit 500 subscribers and very happy. but the whole concept of having to create enough content for that many watch hours by. myself. is overwhelming. Im still doing what I love (spiritual high vibe art) and thats all that matters. Yet I do love see you both succeed and its very inspiring

10:41 Regarding ads, and their potential impact on your viewers, here’s how I’ve solved the problem of not enjoying most commercials: I have a Premium RU-vid Subscription that I pay less than $20.00 per month for. Creators still earn from my subscription, and the only ‘commercials’ I see, are when the creators are sharing the products of whomever is sponsoring their channels. I appreciate creators who partner with brands they are comfortable with, which offers a slight ‘trust value’ to their opinions since I already appreciate their content on the platform. Cheers!

I'm very fortunate I've been monitised for some time before RU-vid made changes to this - I did however have to meet the criteria to continue my monitisation. I don't give a lot of thought to ads etc. and just upload content I happen to make. I always view my art making as primary and content for social media as secondary. But this means my social content is sporadic and doesnt always hit the mark. I really want to get focused on doing well on RU-vid and not just by fluke :) I think I will take midrolls off becuase they're just annoying and I dont want to interupt my content if people are watching my videos in the background of them drawing or making art themselves!

Congratulations ! ^^ You do a great job and post quality content. To answer your question : I think that all work deserve a pay and so I find it normal to "pay" for RU-vid content. I think ads in the begginig (for all content) and in the middle (with medium-long video) are totally OK. It's a win-win situation between the viewer and the creator. Obviously, that's just my thoughts. :)
