So THIS happened: while making this video, I started a fresh New Game Plus playthrough just to record some early footage. But it seems in doing so it somehow overwrote a bunch of my save files, and my core playthrough is now gone. 100+ hours down the drain. So I’m going to have to burn through a New Game Plus playthrough for the sole purpose of rebuilding all my decks from scratch. Thankfully I’ve got hours of footage to reference so it won’t be too hard to do, just a huge bummer to not have that initial playthrough file preserved. But hey it could be a blessing in disguise and lead to some fun new content ahead. 😅
That’s so unfortunate 😢 I’m glad you’ve found a silver lining. I have no doubt you’ll find a lot more spicy footage on your journey back. And hey, maybe this is the gentle push you needed to get over your lotr addiction (probably not lol)
Update: It was taking forever to get hunter to the dark side so I said screw it and started new game plus. Turns out I could in fact choose to keep my cards, resources (gloss, credits, heroic, skill, attack easence and blueprints but not herbs, masterworks, gifts or combat items. So I guess they did an update. Also means I would have been best off recycling all the combat items before starting it.
Its crazy you dont keep your cards, i feel like thats the one thing people would want most. I wanted to do a second run through to get the full dark hunter achievement but the idea of having to grind all the cards is a major turn off. I feel like the card mod system is enough of a resource sponge for NG+. You can spend forever tinkering the mods to get the ultimate combo, you dont need to have people grind out all the basic stuff again. Very disappointing. Hopefully they'll change it.
Das wurde mitlerweile überarbeitet und man nimmt nun auch die Karten und Ressourcen zur Verbesserung der Karten mit. Auch die Freigeschaltenen Kostüme, hat aber lange gedauert, gerade die Karten waren mir wichtig.
2:19 actually this makes sense in the context of the hunter, Magic in the game and the abbey existing in a pocket dimension. Each playthrough can be looked at as a separate reality.
Cards including Legendary Cards Carry over, Friendship levels carryover, All legendary outfits are auto unlocked in new game+. This may be because of update or because I bought the New Character pack with Storm, Deadpool, Morbius and Venom but Carryover for those things listed above does happen if you choose it to.
Same here, everything for the most part carried over for me as well including all my decks. May have been an update they completed within the last year.
Just gonna keep playing normally after finishing the campaign to test the last 3 dlc chars , not going NG+ without my decks / mods i spend dozen of hours on grinding.
That’s really weird. They’ve done the exact opposite of what you’d expect from a new game + mechanic. Even if it was just a small health increase for enemy units, difficulty scaling would add so much more appeal. They should do what dark souls did and have the scaling go up by “X” amount for each restart, and let the players run wild trying to get as far as they can. Might not be appealing to some but you may as well
Agreed. It’s a pointless kind of NG+. Characters back to Lvl 0, cards gone, resources gone, research gone, what exactly is my motivation to repeat the campaign?
@@georgehernandez2156Yep, that's the only benefit I see too, so I'm keeping my old game. I'd rather grind to the other side using all darkness cards than lose all my stuff, cause that grind is way bigger. For anyone going my path I recommend doing the THREAT room with hunter every day for some extra dark points. I can't believe they made ng+ this way, I'm just waiting for someone to discover something great about it cause this just seems silly.
Good video Dylan ! The downside of NG+ is you losing all your mods , cards and levels. You should only do NG+ ONCE and that’s about it. I am doing Ultimate 1 on NG+ now 😊
You could use the NG+ to easily unlock a few of the trophies/achievements like doing a general mission led by each hero, surviving three rounds in the TREAT room with each hero and getting a suit pallet for each hero. Not to mention anything you missed before. It's not too bad.
That's actually completely unnecessary though, I've completed all trophies and challenges and 100% on the DLC's in my first playthrough. The only one that's a pain is the darkness, but you switch to dark as soon as the light trophy pops it'll be a bit faster.
@@chrono050 It's doable, but I highly recommend to not do it. It takes way too long, I eventually decided to start my ng+ instead and it was way way faster, and now you do get to keep your cards.
Good i checked on that before i finished the story and instantly started ng+. I'd be so pissed if i lost it all. The cards should carry over no matter what
I beat the game and I got New Game Plus I still play my old profile but I started profile on New Game Plus I just wish you can take any hero on story missions from the start the first mission when you have the Hunter and Doctor Strange blade she can choose the heroes that come with you from the start when you unlock new game plus
So basically you're first file you just have to max out everything trophy related and use ng+ for fun challenge runs. Loosing the cards hurt but honestly this seems fun enough to be worth playing when I get through star Ocean divine force and star wars Jedi fallen order and I think armoured core 6 first, I've got more games in my backlog but I'm going to try and ignore trophies
Yeah, the new game plus sounds... bizarre. Mostly more of the same, but thankfully I enjoyed thar. The main value I see here is having all the characters. Which is awesome, I love seeing them around the abbey. But I kinda wish friedship levels reset to build back up over time, and redo the friendship scenes with different costumes and stuff. (Or just have a way to rewatch them at all.)
about halfway through my initial run i found out this was what NG+ was like so essentially skipped and speedran the story to get to NG+ to make that my actual playthrough. didnt want to invest too much so i can allocate all my attention to the 2nd run
Honestly, it’s hard to say, other than just you want to start fresh with the whole roster. Like I said, not having a new difficulty level or some big new wrinkle to combat is kind of bizarre to me and re-grinding all of your builds feels anti-NG+.
@@frijolitodr You will always have new missions to run on the War Table in postgame. The Transia region opens up which offers new cosmetic rewards and you can still progress your friendships with everyone.
You have all areas, all mission types, and all characters unlocked from beginning. So in a NG+ run, you don't have to run Wanda on hero ops for a month to have a usable deck. It also does make Hero Ops easier to manage w/ a full roster.
Nice video! Does this style of New Game+ have an audience that likes it? I’m a long-time rpg player (20+ years) and I’ve never found enjoyment with this style… It’s actually very disappointing to me. I got excited when I saw all the difficulties (long-time Devil May Cry enjoyer as well) and was stoked to restart with New Game+
They must have tweaked some stuff since this or something cause I don't think I lost any cards for anyone I kept the same decks with their midnight sun specials still there and everything. I kinda immediately regretted new game plus cause now I'm basically just doing the same thing I was doing when I was playing random missions at the endgame (even skipping a ton of dialogue and/or cutscenes) but with the added benefit of my OCD firing off at every side thing I don't really feel like doing again but feel like I still should.
@@YourMomsSecretLoverr It doesn't end per se, it just keeps going and you get more map fights and some hangouts still. I don't want to play the new game anymore
@@YourMomsSecretLoverr I don't really even see the point of it, you lose all of your saved games, and characters are available for fights, but not for joining/friends until you reach that point in the story again. I'd rather play it from scratch knowing what I know now and whom to pick and friend up with. I like our character Hunter, but for him to have to be on every battle for it to count as leveling up for other heroes, it's kind of limiting, Hunter is more like a cleric/healer and that's dumb. I like to try all sorts of different combos and I can do that now for fun.
I am more interested in the dlc heroes than new game plus honestly. I guess the only cool thing is you have all the heroes available immediately. Makes no sense with the story though. Curious how the new heroes will fit in story wise.
Based on the dev streams, they won’t fit in. They’re meant to be able to join the roster at any point in your playthrough so I’d wager they’ll have their own cutscenes and narrative that won’t factor too deeply into the main narrative and operate more like a subplot that doesn’t conflict with what’s happening.
Honestly, this is the WORST new game plus I've ever played. what's the point in a new game plus if NOTHING gameplay wise carries over? no currencies, no abilities, no levels, no upgrades, no cards, no gear, NOTHING. not even your cosmetics! you have to re-earn and re-buy everything. the friendship is nice but it's really, REALLY not enough.
Only friendship levels 1 through 5 carryover. If you’ve maxed out your friendship level with any character(like I had with several), their “prestige” levels go back down to 1. NG+ is broken.
Have to say I disagree about having all cards and mods unlocked. And the gloss stockpile is more than enough to customize your new character as you wish. You can't go wild. But you can get a solid start. Repeating the Collectothon is the real punch in the gut.
To do everything you want to do and be on top of all areas takes a LONG TIME so i'd like to play it again once i beat it an not have to grind just play story missions but will see if i want to play again.. Doesn't help that the game crashes all the time on PS4 with all the DLC
Hate this form of Newgame+. I will not grind mods a second time. Also, your observation that they carry over the wrong parts of the game is a good one.
I have the original game on stream. if I buy the season pass or all the expansions, do I need to buy those on steam also, or is it an entire new single player as well? I am almost hrs into the game got WANDA a few missions ago. but I am having a harder time now. SO I dint need 2 beat the game i am pretty sure of. but do I need the original game. or is the 49.99 dlc an entire new game?
Well. Now I have to think about starting one and I’m not even done with the main game. Sucks that your decks don’t carry over who wants to have to build it all again. Could’ve at least had us just equip them back rather than just take them away. I might as well wait for the dlc and grind out general missions til then. But I do love the game. This video definitely game me much to think about
Is there something in the mission in particular that’s giving you problems? You can always try lowering the difficulty, or really just going in in truly optimizing everyone’s decks.
i appreciate the video but its your fault you did the first run through on ulti 3,not sure if you got all the light and dark side rewards on the first go though,as for me i did light on my first run and dark on my 2nd run so i throughly enjoyed it.
If it’s a key ability you like to use for that character, an extra copy gives you a better chance of having it pop in your hand and simply gives you more potential uses of that card.
There’s still about 12 hours total left of DLC so I’ll probably play those and either put it down or replay as a female character since throughout the game, my male character would act feminine so female Hunter must be the canon one😅
Ok ng+ sucks If i lose all my card's then how the hell am i supposed to get the trophy for having all of the hunter card's unless i can rebuild the dark card's on the anvil
Thank God I saw this before I did anything. Geez Louise. That’s some bullshit. Seriously? We have to do the whole scavenger hunt outside the Abbey situation again? That’s such a crappy move and not how new game plus works.
The only achievements I have left to get is getting the Hunter fully upgraded to full light as I did full dark on my first playthrough. Would I be better off starting a new game to achieve that and create a separate save file to just hammer that out and keep my completed game separate to play later on on harder difficulties?
Technically you could just grind out light points in combat by spamming light cards, but the easiest way would be to earn points through conversations. I’d say firing up a new file would make that easier with more plentiful alignment choices in the story.
@@TheOrderofDylan I decided to create a save file with my fully upgraded cards. I then started a New+ that I will grind the light conversations out in and once I get the achievements, will go back to my old save to play on harder difficulties.
@@TheOrderofDylan okay, so I'm super pissed off. Got the final achievements and decided I was going to load my manual save to continue on my actual upgraded characters. They deleted my manual by replacing it with multiple auto saves! All the hours of grinding it out...GONE. I'm moving on to Hogwarts Legacy. All those hours gone. I have never had a game replace a manual save with auto saves before. Complete BS.
@@UndgnfiedWrshpr Not sure if you saw my pin, but that’s exactly what happened to me. You have every right to be livid, I thought it was a fairly isolated incident, but apparently it’s happened to a lot of people. Pretty ridiculous.
Tried new game plus. It’s ok. Too many characters from scratch. I rather wait for DLC and try gain again on ultimate 2 difficulty but trying new Hunter variations and having different builds for other characters slowly.
Onl yreason why I lik eNG+ really is having access t oth earmours and characters from the start. Suer you d ohav to repurchase but ew don't hav et ogo through the headache of reunlocking them. if we don' t want to.
This seems more like a "Prestige" mode than what NG+ usually means in games. I would not wanna play it unless it brought something in terms of progression/challenge.
Sounds weak, though they've changed some of it and most everything should carry over, but I only get the spinning loading wheel which hasn't crashed as it warns me if I turn my controller off, but it won't save and start the game+!! Here's a question: When/where do all of the abbey grounds open up? I only found one in the first playthrough, and I know what to look for, but I still can't find them. Do they open on the 2nd playthrough if I forego game+?
Been on the fence about this because I genuinely believe that builds depend as much on team comp as they do the individual character, and mods really create an insane amount of flexibility. I do have a few build videos in mind that I’ll get to as we ramp up for Deadpool.
@@TheOrderofDylan I agree but I’m a new player and tbh I feel like I just been wasting my resources and time and trying to figure out how the mod system worked. How to use my hand. ( been so many times where I had no cards in my hand but had one or two card plays left and heroism ) didn’t even know that was possible so I’m just trying to figure out the three best hero’s to use up to ultimate three please and I like your videos because you have more details on what and how things work together
@@poetg3000 I gotcha. Thank you for sharing this with me because it really helps me to determine what videos I should make next. Also feel free to reach out to me on Discord, I’m always happy to chat and share anything directly with you on there: discord.gg/Sad2NYTPyX If you’re looking for the absolute safest team to play in terms of getting you through the game, the Cap/Hunter combination I’ve highlighted in the combat missions is just hard to beat, especially when paired with Iron Man or Magik.
@@TheOrderofDylan I just joined your discord and I’m bout to look at your mission videos for cap and hunter it’s just hard putting a good synergy deck together but I appreciate you actually taking the time out to answer my concerns
So I just got the game recently. I’m in it about 60 hours and roughly 80% through Act 2. I bought the DLC because I wanted to have some fun with those new characters and all the cosmetics are immediately present but no DLC missions agave popped up for me to do. What am I doing wrong here? Apparently the Deadpool mission should pop up after Spidey joins but like I said I’m way past that in the story so how do get these DLC missions to appear? Anybody know? Am I going to have to wait to do them with NG+? That would suck because I wasn’t sure I was going to even do NG+ for this game and now hearing it’s not sounding worth it I’m wondering if I just wasted my money on the DLC.
I’ll pass on NG+. As much as I enjoy the game I can’t sit through all the painfully long dialogue portions of the game. And even though it was exciting finding everything on my own in the exploration portion of the game, I just want to just enjoy the combat missions at this point.
I mean, you CAN skip the dialogue, but I agree on the combat part. really dumb that you have to re-earn and re-buy EVERYTHING. not even your upgrades to the abbey carry over.
@@DBfan106 True you can skip through the dialogue which ended up doing. I’m just not the biggest fan of RPG’s n general. I haven’t even played Final Fantasy in my entire life. This game is actually my first turn based style game outside of the Civilization Revolution series. I didn’t expect to love it so much. I’m at almost 100 hours.
@@OutsideTheRopes Not my first turn based video game, but definitely my favorite so far. I love all the interactions between characters and how they did all the characters so well! keeping the things we love about them while still having them be flawed. It's great!
No I mean I was enjoying the game it's pretty bad a$$ REALLY until I got to to half way NGP :) then I have to say it really really let me down. I mean is that not what ngp is a way u get to start the game over with all the things u got in u first play so we can show them how bad a$$ the hunter really is u know ;) but noooo a least something like what u said. Just a lot down Mann n good video. B safe
Well I'm glad I looked up NG+ before starting a new run. The fact that all of the heroes are available in the abbey to talk to at the start _even if_ they're not actually introduced in the game yet is super weird. Like how am I going to be sitting here having conversations with Eddie or Wanda while they're both active enemies in the narrative? Like imagine taking Wanda into the mission to free Wanda. What is this No Way Home? Not to mention that with their friendship levels carrying over it makes it impossible to try out new lines of dialogue in conversations with them. What if I wanted to be more of a goodie two-shoes and see how that affects my relationship with Nico? Or Tony? Also having to repurchase cosmetics again is super lame. It makes it impossible to just have the heroes in your preferred outfit for them from the start, along with your PC. Take Spider-Man for example. I hate the colors on his default outfit but the "Friendly Neighborhood" color scheme is fantastic and makes his suit 10x better IMO. But if I have to repurchase it with only a measly 1000 Gloss to start just so his suit can look better I'd rather just start a whole new game rather than NG+. Because at least then I'll be able to try new dialogue options with characters and have them introduced at proper times rather than just popping into the abbey even when they're still Fallen. Honestly if they absolutely couldn't have cosmetics transfer over for whatever reason they should have just made it so you're reimbursed for all of the cosmetics you have already purchased. That way you could repurchase the same ones again or try new ones. Also while I get that unlocking and upgrading cards is part of the core experience I think having to completely require every card and rebuild every deck is really lame. Like for me the best part of MS is the actual combat encounters, not the boring ass upgrading while standing in the abbey having Blade talk shit to me because I'm taking longer than 5.5 seconds to do all of my upgrading, modding, and training. Seriously I don't think I'll be able to handle hearing Blade say "Yeah, I guess it is a tough decision" or "Just hit me up on Superlink when you're ready" or yell at me "Back again?!" when I have to do more busy work. If they wanted to encourage players to continue finding new abilities they could have made special, legendary versions of all the hero's cards that can only be acquired on NG+. All in all this is a great video but NG+ sounds like the worst NG+ mode I've ever heard of in modern gaming. Which sucks because despite all it's flaws Midnight Suns is one of my favorite games in the last 5 years and the ending had me tearing up. Here's hoping if Midnight Suns does get a sequel they devote more resources to it and really take player feedback into consideration.
Shittiest new game plus i have ever seen. Wanted to start a new game but luckily i read on reddit and saw some youtube videos that it isn't worth it. My thought was that everything, literally everything will carry over. Gloss, champion levels, hero levels, herbs, cards and decks with all the modification you did. Also the recipe books you found. And of course not doing the damn abbey again with the damn words of powers where you spent many hours to do anything. I spent over 150 hours in this game so no thanks, i wont ever do it . Sorry for my english btw its not my first language.
