How Ninjago is FAILING Jay 

I liked how in Hunted, he was the main one who was coming up with the plan and designing the mechanical Firstbourne. It felt like he was really a key part of the team, he was the immature yet intelligent one. But in later seasons his knowledge isn’t really used

Jay used to be the smartest person on the team, he used to be the inventor who designed cool contraptions and vehicles. And his characterization in skybound was pretty much perfect. Now, he's basically the comic relief character (along with Zane, who ends up being unintentionally funny) who's immature and saying silly things all the time. Jay may have been somewhat silly and childish in earlier seasons, but it didn't define his character as he had many redeeming qualities including his intelligence, dedication, and sweet demeanor. He's no longer a three-dimensional character. Bring back the old Jay!

I think the saddest part of Seabound was Jay's child like reaction to Nya leaving : (

It's kinda sad that in season 1 jay alone was able to put bounty in the sky. Then nya suddenly became an engineer and then jay stoped... And nya also did... But pixal started doing it..

Honestly I think this gradual character shift isn’t helped by his new design, while the other characters look somewhat older, Jay actually looks like he got younger

Ngl the voice being super high pitched is prolly the thing that annoys me the most

Personally, i feel both kai and jay have both suffered ever since season 11 to just bring comic relief and nothing really past that, especially compared to previous seasons like 4 for kai and 6 for jay. I hope the next season gives these 2 characters some development and try to fix this problem

I honestly agree, Jay HAS become way more childish then I’d like to admit, but honestly I believe he still has his moments where he shines. I do hope he gets more development in the next season, & for his voice to go back to normal. On another note, I feel like Kai should be focused more, as his character has noticeably become dumbed down than Jay’s.

I agree. I’m not saying that he’s getting worse, but we are more getting a different jay then what we were used too before season 11. Hope season 16 will change that, considering the circumstances after the end of seabound, I think we can agree that will quite a character breakthrough for jay.

Early season Jay felt like a smartass teenager, who was a touch arrogant, and only a tad childish, when the situation was right.

I’m so sad that Tommy Andreasen and the crew decided to take away Jay’s inventor side. When Tommy was asked about it, he said that ‘too many characters already had the role’, and that they had to make the choice. Nya, Pixal and Zane being the ones he had referred to. And while I understand wanting more strong woman representation with Pixal, ESPECIALLY since she’s Cyrus Borg’s daughter, but I would’ve much preferred if they kept Jay as a smart person that doesn’t know how to show his smarts other than inventing! Pixal is a badass, ofc, but damn I miss old Jay

Maybe if we had some serious storyline about Jay's mom, that could be some good development for him

I wish they kept his inventing and dabbling in various hobbies personality. Sure there may be too many tech ppl, but they didn’t have to make Zane a tech person. Zane’s probably the most human of the group in some ways. He just happens to be a robot. I miss Jay’s sharp and sassy character and the bit of a New York accent he had in earlier seasons (with weirdly advanced vocabulary lol). He’s been screaming a lot less too recently.

I will be honest, why they took technical engineering from him?

Thank god Jay's voice isn't squishy in other languages

The truth is that there have been many voice changes in him (compared to Cole, because Kai has also been given the highest voice, and also Nya). But still, Jay is still my favorite ninja! 🤩

I've noticed this too, at times it feels like a completely different character but I'm excited to see what they do with him in the next season though

Jay is awesome but they highkey need to drop the potty humor ans extremely childish moments from him and make his voice not sound like Alvin and the chipmunks
