Nice video but it misses one important thing: quality control. As you get older, you learn something about Nintendo that most people can’t articulate: Nintendo is the Name Brand in gaming. They dont just make appealing games. They make mechanically rich games. Their games have few bugs. And their games are good GAMES. This laser focus on quality makes a Nintendo system a very easy purchase. If you’re in the know, then you know you have to have a Nintendo. Mario may be a kid’s game but that’s secondary to it being an excellent GAME. and when people feel it and play it, they’ll always eventually come back. That’s the hook.

As some of the other gamers in the comments are mentioning, it is crucial to understand that hardcore gamers also find Nintendo games appealing because of their incredibly creative gameplay. Other AAA companies try to make their games appealing due to graphics, physics, or a good story, but always on the side of realism. Nintendo goes crazy and doesn't really care about an "adult" storytelling, allowing the gamer to have a direct experience of sheer gameplay.

That maybe true, but sometimes I wish that maybe Nintendo could take some lessons from the triple AAA companies and go into depth with their stories and graphics. The high quality of the vast majority of Nintendo's first party titles helps set them apart. They command an air of respect that other companies lack. For example, when a new Legend of Zelda title comes out, it practically goes without saying that the game will be 1) be a massive financial success and 2) be near universally acclaimed by critics and fans alike. Nintendo has EARNED the trust of consumers in this regard.

Nintendo gets that the best stories in games are ones that we want to tell our friends about later, not necessarily the ones that were storyboarded. It was often noted that Shigeru Miyamoto hates stories and loves "scenarios" or "conflicts." His influence at Nintendo is why we have so much more control over what happens in Nintendo games, relative to the more linear story-encumbered Western games. If you and your friends all played a story game, you likely had very similar, curated experiences that matched the creators' expectations. When you and your friends play a Nintendo game, you're all telling stories of what happened to you and how you overcame unique problems due to your choices. The emergent story is really special.

It created the illusion of depth like the screen was a window into a diorama. This effect was phenomenal to everyone who had good eyesight, but for those with lazy eyes, poor eyesight, or weak eye muscles and difficulty focusing, it was very tiring. It was actually used by many pediatric optometrists and ophthalmologists to help diagnose vision problems. I currently play switch games on my PC for 4K resolution and 60fps (sometimes even 120fps, like in Metroid Dread). I buy the games to support the developers though! @@saxoman1 hopefully the deck 2 has a better ui, a bit more plug and play, and quiter fan. Even when I turn the power down to 9 watts the fan still rattles hard in games like forza and even smaller indie games. Personally I don't like emulation as it's not really power efficient or optimized, emulating switch games doesn't give you a decent battery life and you are sacrificing a bit in terms of controls. Performance is hit or miss personally, I tried to emulate citra games on my phone (samsung galaxy s20 fe) but I was only getting around 40fps on super smash bros and the controls bleh weren't good. Not to mention how much you have to go through to get the games on the system. Honestly I'd just prefer to buy the console if I'm really that desperate to play mario games. The biggest one though is graphical glitches in games. Lots of games distort the audio when playing at lower than 60fps on the emulation. Pretty thin research here. There are a couple podcasts in the past couple years that have gone into more depth about their overall strategy, including looking for the open spaces in the industry. This is a pretty superficial video.

I got my Switch in 2018. Don’t regret it one bit!

Nintendo is just fun. Awesome games, nostalgic memories with family and friends, character's & much more. I still enjoy the Super Mario Bros Movie from '93 (it's a fun popcorn flick), though I'm looking forward to the new one this next Wednesday (I got a day #1 ticket 🤟). The Switch is actually one of my favorite systems next to Sega Genesis, PS4, PS1, N64 and NES.

im sorry but you cant call splatoon a "more family friendly shooter" and mention fortnite as a "normal" shooter that comes to mind easily. splatoon is actually a great game, its sad that it is mistaken as a childrens game because of its popping colours.

Nintendo handheld hardware is very mod-able now and retro gaming is huge on older Nintendo hardware. Plus, it's better for casual party games. PlayStation and Xbox really focus on those big AAA titles to drive sales.

Ive owned Nintendo products since the NES days in the 1980s. Always top quality. Nintendo doest release buggy games, or recall or patch their games. Its rare to have a bug, and when they do, Nintendo owns the problem and makes it right. Family friendly is important. My patents never had to worry about what i was playing on my Nintendo, and same now for my son. Fun games, top quality, family friendly.

Nintendo can’t just rely on graphical fidelity to sell games like the powerful ps5 and Xbox so they actually innovate on gameplay

I haven't really played a game in years, the other day I was feeling sad, I decided to grab my switch, I started playing Bowser's fury. I said "what an ugly game, 30 fps looks gross". Ended up playing for like 2 hours and I was happy all the sudden. Nintendo just plays on another field

as a casual gamer i think nintendo is the one and only game company that actually tries to carter to us and the non-gamers. They make games that are really fun and their comsoles are accessible in terms of both gameplay and price. I can’t ever imagine getting my hands on a ps5 because 1) the price it’s incredible high and 2) most of the titles look pretty intimidating and hardcore for a newbie. For Xbox i cant really say much 😅 I can get most of their games in steam so i dont mind. Nintendo has so many IPS that i genuinely love, like Mario, Zelda, Kirby, Animal Crossing and Pokemon. These are games that i play constantly and i never get tired of ❤️ So for me, its nintendo all the way.
