That's the feedback of the amp, he triggers It with the high frequency harmonics you get picking the strings between the headstock and the nut

The first one sounds nothing like what John would ever play. The closest would be the style of his California solo. The second one sounds like every other generic john Mayer wannabe solo.

I see, but these are just exaggerated example made for you to understand what to do. Also both Mayer and Frusciante come from the same place and their playing Is sometimes more similar than you think. Also i got better at playing Frusciante when i got into Mayer
