@@InnovativeJdawg Actually Bulma is around 5 when Goku gets sent to Earth in Jaco the Galactic Patrolman, so he is fourteen at the start of Dragonball. He says he is twelve at the Tenkai'ichi Budoukai but he wouldn't know his actual age since that information was lost when he lost his memory. In reality this only retcons his statement of being 12 and returns him to 14 at the beginning of Dragon Ball.

I always took it as he just traded his life force to Goku. He died so Goku could live. I don’t think the lifespan transferred over with it, BUT, that would be pretty cool

I feel like it’s sort of similar to the Time Chamber he was in with Merus where in the grand scheme of things, even though it does age him slightly, it’s not too important in the grand scheme of things. Although, it could lend itself toward how he physically grew up so much between the King Piccolo and 23rd Tournament arcs

I’d argue it’s us not knowing exactly when Goku’s birthday is. He says he’s 14 in the Pilaf Arc, when in reality he really meant 12 (he says he didn’t know what came after 11 when he said the 14 age) and he confirms he made that mistake at the 21st tournament. It’s likely implied that he had just barely turned 12 in the Pilaf Arc and is in the last little bit being 12 at the tournament before he is officially 13 in the Red Ribbon Arc. It’s all up to interpretation though. Late 11-12 is a good estimate for the beginning of the series.

It’s likely implied that he had just barely turned or is in the early to halfway stages of being 12 in the Pilaf Arc, and combining the length of that arc with the training for the tournament, he’s likely in the last little bit being 12 at the tournament, then there’s that short gap where he officially turns 13 in the Red Ribbon Arc. It’s all up to interpretation though. Late 11-12 is a good estimate for the beginning of the series, late 12-13 for the 21st Budokai into RRA.

@@InnovativeJdawg Yeah in that year he would turn 13, but not much time passes between the 21 tournament and the RR arc: The tournament is during may 7, and Goku defeats the RR Army in may 12, so unless his birthday was in between those days he would still be 12 when the arc ended. He was definetly 15 and 18 in the 22nd and 23rd tournaments respectively, because they were both also in may 7, and he was likely still 15 when he defeated King Piccolo in may 9. The may 7 date comes from the daizenshuu timelines, it's extrapolated from the may 9 date that is directly stated in the manga by Piccolo when he conquers the world 2 days after the tournament, so they simply established that the tournaments are celebrated on may 7 every 3 years. So it seems Goku's birthday would be around the middle of the year. Also i doubt Goku even knows his real birthday, Grandpa Gohan probably just told him his birthday was the day he found Goku which in the Jaco manga it seems to be in early August which is consistent with what Goku says in the 21st tournament.

@StareachValcin Actually, since he’s 13 in the Red Ribbon Army arc, it’s implied that he’s at the tail end of being 12 during the 21st Tenkaichi Budokai as, like you said, the Dragon Balls were still inactive during the tournament. So it’s still likely that he had just turned 12 sometime during the Pilaf Arc or soon before meeting Bulma. We don’t know when exactly the arc takes place in Age 749. So it goes something like this: He’s 11-early 12 in the Pilaf Arc, late 12-13 in the 21st Tenkaichi Budokai, 13 in the Red Ribbon arc.

@@StareachValcin That’s fine if you disagree, it’s all up to interpretation on what months these events fall into, how long the downtime is when things take place, and whenever Goku’s actual birth date is. We only have years to go off of for the most part. But also, I’d like to point out that Goku spends a month in the time chamber as a kid anyway, so that lends itself towards his age being bumped forward, even if just a tiny bit.

He does but in his own weird way. You can see in the goku black arc he was pissed when he heard zamasu killed chi chi and gohan.

He did, but only for about a month. It might alter his age “slightly” but not enough in the grand scheme of things.

They were in there for about a full year. Not exactly 365 days, but mathematically something like 320 or something around there. Which is just about a year anyway.

I think I remember coming up with the video idea sometime when I released my Other World video (the most recent video before this one). I was thinking about characters not aging and I wanted to talk more about it

Goku is definitely one of the most confusing since he’s died AND he’s been in the Time Chamber for long periods of time. Piccolo I’d say is confusing in terms of visuals, cause it’s hard for some people to see him as just a few years older than Gohan. Buu’s age is pretty straightforward, he’s just SO old because he’s been around since time immemorial, so he’s very very very old. Vegeta’s age could be confusing, he’s died a lot alongside Goku and has been in the Time Chamber several times too, even more than Goku

@@InnovativeJdawg For Piccolo, I was more meaning that not only is there already a problem with his age given that he has the memories of King Piccolo as his reincarnation vs physically being a child, but then when he merges with Nail, does that add their ages together? What about Kami? Does becoming essentially the Nameless Namekian again also add to his age, or even reset it? There's several things to factor in there that might make Piccolo currently over 1000 years old despite physically being 30.
