All the comments about how the Knights have anti-magnetic armor because of the time Ben beat the fuck out of them as Lodestar when hunting for Kevin - fantastic point. Makes perfect sense. Wish I thought of that.
Kuro, you legitimately caught me off guard at first. I usually listen to these videos while driving and i happened to glance over and said "who tf is this?"
Yeah, real impressive stuff. Honestly wasn't sure if it was Kuro, or if he got someone to speak those lines and then dubbed over, as some sort of weird retcon nod, but then the costume (You can see the seams on the chest, around the neck) came back at the end.
Aaaand there's the last time we will ever see Lodestar. Ever. Two whole appearances in OV. Will forever be annoyed at that, he has such a cool design, such a cool color scheme, Magnetism is such a cool power for Ben to have and yet they barely ever used it
@@orbboom6119 Nope. The very 1st episode "The More Things change". This episode. And then the fraction-of-a-second cameo in the very final episode where basically every alien makes a cameo
For the non magnetic armor and tools, it might be because Ben went on a rampage against them during the ultimate Kevin arc with Lodestar, so they had seen how easily Lodestar could defeat them and adapted for future situations.
Makes me wonder if they have anything ready just in case another alien that’s trashed them shows up. Like, they might have set something up for Rath or Swampfire, who have beaten them a few times by now
Tbh I always been surprised that the plumber hasn’t arrested Will because of all the crap he has done. He was on the incursions side and now even the forever knight sides. He has done so many things that would probably be against the intergalactic legal system and to se him be an alien was just satisfying
23:46 in Ben's defense even if he can fight hand-to-hand it wouldn't mean jack against guys who 1. are wearing armor or are a robot, and 2. are armed, Ben has no weapons while the knights do, meaning even if he can fight hand-to-hand it would be pretty stupid to even try against the forever knights, plus there's the little fact that they're outnumbered (not by a lot mind you but the knights still have numbers on their side)
14:17 Loadstar has specifically beat the Forever Knights multiples times though, like while he was interrogating them, or with the giant aztec mech suit
27:51 I have a theory about how Juryrigg's powers actually work. I think his species is innately crafty (not as in mischievous, as in literally crafting things) and there's some sort of organ in their brains that releases a quick burst of adrenaline whenever they're hit with inspiration for something they can build. This would explain why Juryrigg seems to move so fast while inventing, but not at any other time.
14:14 I'd argue that scene during the Kevin Arc of Lodestar brutalizing multiple Forever Knights as they cower in fear kinda make it clear why they created non-metal items to use.
I guess it would make sense that the forever knights would make counters for Lodestar since Ben did use Lodestar to torture/beat them up when he was looking for Ultimate Kevin.
It was so satisfying as a kid to see will get mutated to an alien. Karma on so many levels. First of all he hates Ben and now he’s what Ben can be, and alien. Also the machine that would kill all aliens, now he would have been a victim in the massacre
I always thought the reason why Ben decided to turn Will into mutant squid alien thing is mainly because of Jury Rigg's personality, like if he got Upgrade or Grey Matter he wouldn't do that
I think the reason the Forever Knights used non-metallic equipments is because in Absolute Power: Part 1, Lodestar violently attacked some Forever Knights to find out about Ultimate Kevin's location.
By the way, to make this episode more "special" regarding the OS/AF/UA callbacks, this is one of the few episodes in which Ben doesn't use any of the new OV aliens.
-"Do they really did this just for Lodestar?" Did you see what Lodestar did to them in Absolute Power? I wouldn't be surprised if they have entire Anti-Lodestar armament just from the horror stories. -While it's true Ben can fight without the watch, you're greatly overestimating his ability to handle opponents without it, especially armored guys with laser weapons, plus Rook would have to fight them all alone while protecting Ben...but yeah maybe he could have tried destroying the device. -Let's remember everything Will Harangue did to him and other people, not to mention he was ok with every alien being turned into human and when he pointed out they be exterminated he just went "Lalala I can't hear you", the dude absolutely had this coming.
14:03 I think the explanation to why they were trying to counter lodestar is quite simple really Lodestar was basically an instant win button against the knights, everytime ben turned into lodestar against the knights it ended up in ben beating them easily if i remember correctly Like they could actually manage to beat gwen kevin and even take down humoungousar, as soon as ben turns into lodestar the fight is just over So its less of a case of "ben has a powerful commonly used alien so we need to counter it" and more of a "ben just straight up has an instant win button against us and we end up in the yamcha pose everytime he uses it, take it away"
I was honestly gonna comment on how: "How do you expect to Rook fight 3 Forever Knights alone?" But immediately after Rook got out of the restraints he kicked the Forever Knights ass, there goes my point and about Will, i have to say it's kinda cruel but on the other end, was it really undeserved? He tried to transform aliens into humans and he didn't care for their lives until he saw his skin care company would be affected and the times he tried to kill Ben and the attacks over Ben's image, so yeah there's that and honestly i feel it's deserved and I'm surprised Ben didn't sued him since Gwen's dad is a lawyer
I think in a lot of cases where Ben says “how can I fight them without my aliens” it’s less dependency on his aliens and more the fact no one seems to have given him his own set of plumber tech. The Omnitrix is his only piece of combat equipment and as clever as Ben can be even he has his limitations
14:00 Remember, in UAF Will Harangue fought Ben with the Stalker and it wasn’t made of metal. If he’s working with the Forever Knights, it would make sense that he shared the data he recorded.
damn, great costume 6:11 speaking of that, I'm very surprise we didn't get "review alien force/uaf in 10 words or less with an top 5 best/worst like we did with classic
I would like to think Ben being so immediately willing to mutate Will Harangue is another instance of transformations slightly altering his personality, with Juryrigg being more mischievous than usual.
33:00 EXACTLY! He pays attention to this stuff, but he's only ever run with the "conspiracies" that ended up being RIGHT. Like Ben, and the plant thing that was pretending to be him.
I don't know if it was intentional given all the UAF callbacks this episode but i appreciated how many UAF aliens show up even as cameos. Swampfire, echo echo, rath, lodestar, eatle, water hazard, armodrillo, etc
i do genuinely wanna congratulate you on and thank you for your makeover. it means a lot to me to see you being so cool and casual about it, and clapping back in the comments. these breakdowns are some of my favourite things to watch and rewatch, and it feels great knowing you've got the queer community's back.
Adding to the positive queer voices because some people in the comments are being gross- We love a confident king in drag, we love casual queer support!
Been loving all these recent uploads. I think OV handled the Knights pretty perfectly after their dedicated arc in UA. I'm glad they didn't just undo all the damage they had done to them in the UA finale. They kind of have the same vibe as stories using Nazi survivors of WW2, especially the trope of Nazi scientists climbing the ranks. And the new style for them is a great compromise between the two eras. I don't agree with Dan Riba's take on OV negating UAF, especially with the alien world-building stuff. If AF had the OS crew on board like OV did with UA, I don't think Riba could argue that, it's only that fact that there wasn't any real carry over that means he never experienced any pushback on those dramatic changes in the first place. I didn't actually think Tim Curry continued over after AF, but he actually is in this episode, just not the next Benwolf in London episode. The actor they got as a replacement does a killer impression though. I do think it's kinda in character for Ben to still be holding Jimmy's outing of his secret identity against him, and that coming across as him underestimating him and calling him a crazy conspiracy nut, despite it not actually ringing true.
I’m sure Dan was getting a lot of whiplash from all the changes, but ultimately it’s nice he stuck with it and adapted to everything. I didn’t notice the actor change either for that episode. David Kaye was the perfect sound-alike
@@TheInkTank Definitely, that's his point of view and I don't think it's any less valid than Derrick's. They're just coming at it from different angles, and different experiences of the show. I'm really glad as much of UA's crew carried over as they did, I don't think I'd like Omniverse as much if they had started over from scratch.
It's funny that most of the comments in no way relate directly to the review, but to Kuro's appearance and mostly it's shock or surprise, although personally I liked it at least because it's something new and hasn't been in videos before)
It’s interesting that around the same time Tim Curry was playing Glorious Godfrey on Young Justice a character that Will Harangue is very clearly inspired by
I was legit multitasking, already hearing Kuro's voice for an hour or so so I just let it play but when I looked at the screen to pause the video, the screen started staring back.
15:05 That hurts me. Lodestar is one of my favourite aliens and pretty underrated so his final appearance being now where there are a lot of episodes left is sad. But I do understand why certain aliens like him had fewer moments. I'm happy that in Omniverse he was very cool in a lot of his scenes.
Did all us trans folk have that as their first thought? I’m still not sure honestly. Is… is kuro trans? Is kuro NB? Or is Kuro just a cross dressing queen???
