How on EARTH do we go from Lotad to Ludicolo? ||

As a Mexican, I approve of this pokemon evolution line.

Fun fact: Ludicolo is one of the few pokémon that could check the monstrous Kyogre in early competitive pokémon because it resisted rain boosted water spouts by 4x

Ludicolo is such an enigma of a Pokémon, and we love it for what it is. Whether if it is the scary looking Pokémon serving coffee in Detective Pikachu, or affiliated with one of the biggest bangers of a Pokémon battle theme back in Pokémon Colosseum. Still, I’m glad that they didn’t go too crazy with the Mexican influence. As someone who lives by the border in the US, I do get to see the lovely culture from time to time and I like to think Ludicolo does pay fair respects to the influences. That and how can you not love the dancing? *plays Miror B. at full blast*

Miror B's Colosseum and XD themes are timed so that it syncs up with Ludicolo's idle dance animation so Ludicolo will always be dancing in tune to both of Miror B's themes.

10/10 evolution line we dancin to Miror B’s theme all day

I love the Ludicolo line. Everything about the line screams "friend" from little guy at first to the joyous hombre at the end. Every pokemon is someone's favorite, and this line comes close for me.

When Lombre evolves it's depression breaks for the first time in months and it has more energy than it knows what to do with.

I adore this line because it feels the most like a pokemon I would stop in my tracks to want to learn more about. To me, that's more important than raw aesthetics, and even though I usually pick pokemon on their cool factor Ludicolo is a bouncy lil guy I'd always want to have around.

Gen 3 has some of the best designs in my opinion. They are really fun and Ludicolo is such a fun design. Quite weird but fun.

In the American dub of the anime they gave Lotad the goofiest voice that made kid me laugh uncontrollably. That alone ended up endearing me to the line

I stan this line and will forever. They said lets do a little dude in a sombrero for our lilipad design and they went all the way with it.

Ludicolo is forever burned into my brain with Mirror B's theme song from the Pokemon GameCube games. That's literally all I hear when I see them. Either one, it's just... "These are Mirror B's pokemon."

I loved Ludicolo ever seen i saw them busting out dance moves on the Miror B. boss fight music is Pokemon Colloseum - damn that game was good that making memorable animations for each Pokémon :D

I love the Lotad line for the relatability I feel from it. Going from a little guy who has no idea what the heck is happening, to a sort of chilled teen who’s just there going with the flow, to a cheerful adult who just can’t stay still and wants to have fun without a care in the world. Who wouldn’t love this guy? 😊

They're legitimately one of my favorite lines because, it's almost like the design inspirations slowly start working against each other, but seamlessly make a Pokémon line that is totally unique and fun. They're just happy little Mexican Kappa, and I love it.

Miror B helped put this line high on my list of favorites. Ludicolo has some great energy whenever you see it moving.

I remember someone calling Ludicolo a sombrero-wearing pineapple duck nearly a decade ago and I can't think about him without that.

One of the most memorable things for me about Ludicolo, is that it's Japanese name Runpapa has characters in it that look like smiley faces. It fits it's jolly persona.

The lilypads mimic the discs on a Kappa's head, which is a nice touch.

Ludicolo made me laugh every time I saw it vibing out in the woods in Shield.

The easiest description for Ludicolo is "Mexican Kappa". I love it.

You can actually see some Mexican folk inspiration in lombre's design, but it's so much more subtle than ludicolo that I honestly was shocked the first time I saw that final evo.

I really like Lombre’s facial expression, honestly. In my mind, that’s basically the line in its’ teenage years, and I think having it look kind of down despite the rest of its’ design looking really solid really conveys a kind of middle-of-the-evolutionary-line moodiness.
