I play bard because its the only job that can give your tanks a chance to score multiple direct hit + crit strikes on the enemy when you go full DH buff for those 15 seconds during burst, afterwards its a ton of fun to read the battle log so Bard is love, Bard is life!
There were also changes to bard that I really enjoyed in endwalker, such as no longer making the ticks of the songs dependent on dots. (at least if I'm remembering this correctly, which I believe I am) Though if they're going to make us the/a dot class, I would like a bane-equivalent spell too. Great video.
For me it's what they did to summoner. They dumbed down my favorite job so hard that I feel embarrassed playing it now. Yes, I know this video is 5 months old, no I'm still not over it.
It’s maddening how boring SMN is now, I legit get RSI if I play it because I’m just pressing a single button 3/4 of the time. And it’s so boring, theres like a millimeter gap between the sunken in skill floor and the skill ceiling. Like I wouldn’t have had issues if they gutted dots, I’ll live. But the pets are just glorified cheerleaders, and being like “the classic summoner of previous games” is no excuse for being such a boring job.
Butt slider? Yes I love bard, I feel like Armys paeon could do so much more. A better change was Natures Minne becoming raidwide rather than single target, and deciding where to use it as a backup to when Troubadour is on cooldown helps during Akh Morn style attacks.
Honestly, a someone who mained bard in heavensward and stormblood(peak bard).I think bard would be perfect if apex arrow didn't exist, or got changed to a ogcd. It just feels super tacked on, not rewarding and another gauge for no real reason. Another change I think could stay was the removal of sidewinder having a higher potency if both dots were applied to target. It was just an extra way to reward players for keeping their dots up. Even with the new dsign philosophy I think something like that can absolutely stay.
Great video, mate! Not much of a bard player but I hope thing get better for y'all eventually. Yes, we need butt slider. Yes, losing Kaiten was a direct critial hit to most SAM players (me included). Also, giving healer an actual rotation would be greatly appreciated
While I do agree with the issue with changing the songs to abilities, I feel like we're going for a more complex abstract cause to a problem that really could just be summed up by saying "fuck the coda system". Radiant finale needs to just be a regular buff that we can slap every 2 minutes like everyone else.
Personally I never noticed the issue with the songs, especially with repetoire being automated in endwalker, right up until hitting 90 and the coda system turning into something I like to call "manual breathing" content, where I was now agonizingly aware of a background mechanic thats supposed to be passive and it just causes this miserable ripple effect on your entire rotation.
Unpopular opinion: I loved stance dancing in HS, the idea of an archer being stationary is completely on par with how you do archery. It made it more risk/reward instead of just being able to run around and shoot as you please.

Kinda fails the argument when you said it "only applies to high end raiders" this entire video only applies to that. No content but ultimates are strict enough on dps checks that this truly matters.
finally one more brd rant after stal's cuz most brd main before alr switch so not much more complaint lmao as brd main, i alr foresee how 2min meta and radiant finale will make this job feel miserable to play since day1 of toolkit release only copium will make me play brd in 7.0 now (will stick to it anyway but more miserable)
A easy solution to the song-dilema with BRD would be to make Wanderers and Mages into stances like the shield- and healing-sects of pre-EW AST that are permanently active. You`re in an aoe-dungeon-trashpull? Go Mages-song-stance for better aoe. You`re almost at the boss or in a raid with only 1 target? Swap to Wanderers for better single-target dps. Make Armies Peon a 60 sec cd and make it so the dot-skills augment your next weapon-skill to have the poison added onto the attack to be able to aoe-dot and we`re good.
@@theultimateevil3430 what variation do we have then right now? At least that wouldn't fuck up your songrotation in dungeons where you alternate between aoe and singletarget.
no, bard has been ruined since day 1 of FF14, you don't take an archer and then turn it into a hybrid that focuses way more on bow-play than actually supporting as a bard should. FF11 is still reigning supreme!
I personally enjoy the hybrid-nature of bard, and I like the way the lore in the job quests makes sense of it. It would be nice though if bard support felt more significant, other than just playing three songs you press every 45 seconds, and the occasional defensive cool down.
