Why would a company who possess something so scarce even bother fighting and wasting that much money to get attract clients, when they can basically in worst case scenario just chill, sit down and wait for the rest of the world to run out of oil so they can sell it to whomever they want for whatever price they want ?????????????????
A lot of the sponsorship aren’t there to make money, but the owners and the execs are fans and want to have influence of the players and to hang outs etc.
For such a beautiful narration and graphic style you don't half put a lot of ugly things in this video - oil dripping over pictures of football players - Abramovich's eyes - Elon Musk - That New York Times italic headline font
15 year old me watching Football: YEAHH LET'S GO. IT'S THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE. 28 year old me watching football: so if PSG wins champions League, the middle East would become richer and it can play out the game of geopolitics better on the world map which may cause the world superpower US to be wary of the new world order emerging from Middle East, South Asia, and East Asian Markets who are already booming as the new age economies to rule the world. Okay.
As an American I just hope we can politely retire from the World Stage and stop being the World Police that everyone screams at when we take action or when we do not take action. I want to be Switzerland X1000 and I don't give a shit if that means the rest of the world goes back to having major wars against each other every 20 years and killing each other.
Blaming the energy sector for climate change is like blaming your shoe for making a footprint, humanity is responsible for climate change - the energy sector actually reduces that footprint greatly. It turns out that oil and gas are far more efficient than burning wood.
I hate the fact that these companies and countries are becoming stakeholders in European football. However, part of me thinks we SHOULD take their money. As long as we maintain our positions as knowledgeable consumers and do not succumb to the senselessness that these companies aren't part of the problem, we can keep taking their money and elevate our beloved game. If we as fans and stakeholders can play both sides like this, eventually these companies will realize that football hasn't quite given them the popularity they wanted, that they just poured a bunch of money into the sport without proper returns. They will withdraw, and we'll walk away with their investments, at least partially.
Have you ever consider making a video about the gambling companies who are behind all the sport competitions? I am very interested to watch and discover something very interesting for sure.
I would highlight the case of Forest Green Rovers, as I think it's an incredibly relevant example of how football clubs can take a stand in regards to this complex relationship with the geo-politics of footbal sponsorships. Other than that, as usual, great video!
@@AthleticInterest I can imagine, what’s the fun of putting cheeky little details in when no one notices them. Love your channel and keep up the good work!
@@AthleticInterest Putin trying to stop a random football transfer between Schalke and Bayern was completely made up. Neither Bayern or Schalke confirmed such reports coming from the media. Also the guy is governing the worlds largest country with 11 different timezones. Do you think he has the time to get worried over some dumb football transfer? He also loves hockey alot more than football lmao. Didnt know you guys were pushing conspiracy theories
@@theimperiumprincipate486 It was confirmed by Schalke's Chairman of the Board Clemens Toennies. To quote him: "I had an order from Vladimir Putin to do everything possible to keep Manuel." Even Manuel Neuer himself confirmed the story in an interview. This is not a conspriacy theory.
This happened once before Oil, when Saltpeter, grains and coffe made the economies of the southern cone the most developed of Latinamerica, thats why Brasil , Argentina, Chile and Uruguay have a long history of football teams too. some chileans teams are direct "descendants" from teams in England like Wanderers and Everton
Because of the Nordsteam 2 pipeline being destroyed? Russia made Germany dependent on Russian gas with the help of football. Then "someone" destroyed that pipeline, crippling Germany. I would say that sounds like Russia making a geopolitical move with the help of football which is what the video was about.
I cannot stand these companies and especially that FC Bayern is in bed with Qatar, it's disgusting. Clubsike PSG, ManCity, and Chelsea have been morally doomed for a long time anyway.
You can't be serious if you're blaming a corporation. A corporation serves the needs and wants of the public. The real blame here is on the people. We create the demand! Stop acting like our coward politicians and blaming our faults onto some "evil corporation"
With no environmental or political concerns peak oil is practically irrelevant, plenty of oil and gas that is untapped. Obviously those real concerns exist so it will eventually fall off
Talking about Romania, one of the most known clubs is Petrolul Ploiești, the city of Ploiești being surrounded by many oil wells and refineries. Also, there's Gaz Metan Mediaș (Methane Gas) as well
I can answer that for you. Created in England, shipped out to the commonwealth through the old empire. European states didn’t have thousands of Englishmen coming over and trying to impose their culture and hence they never got cricket (as in actually got to play it). Now since cricket is in a more digestible and marketable format and due to increasing globalisation and connectivity, those in countries that aren’t in the commonwealth are starting to play cricket, for example there is an actual European cricket championship with teams from all over, but most of the teams are very much below par. As cricket is pushed out to the would more it will come, but it’s a hard game to get into, especially if it’s not in your culture.
